    Powerbelt

RE: Hi Bebop!! LAST EDITED ON May-30-02 AT 10:16AM (Est)[p]Hi Hollie. I did a search at VF on the Powerbelt and came up with a little information. One Powerbelt user/poster said that she is an intermediate/advanced exerciser and that she has yet to go beyond level two (she bought the complete...

    ultimate upper/lowerbody split by Cathe?

LAST EDITED ON May-30-02 AT 00:17AM (Est)[p]I do two separate upper body splits using the S&H dvd. I start with my own warm-up on the treadmill, incorporating light hand weights, but you could use one of the S&H warm-ups. I start the split with chest; flat bench presses and flys. I then do back...

    Powerbelt

Thanks honeybunch. I've been thinking about this for several weeks. The guilt factor is the only thing that's stopping me...oh that, and maybe the fact that I just ordered a Black Diamond yoga mat over the weekend }> ! It's just a matter of time before I cave.

    TREADMILL WALKING

Hi Janice. I'm so happy to read your positive comments concerning you experiences with treadmill walking. I'm a runner, but I simply cannot tolerate the boredom of steady state running on my treadmill. I have to power walk or do walk/run intervals. When I walk, I maintain a 3.8-4.0 mph pace and...

    Goals for June....

Hmmm...I'm preparing myself mentally for the heat and humidity. Heavy weight work will get shelved for the next few months, in favor of heavy cardio and some major flexibility training. My strength work will come from yoga and lighter weights, and I'm going to tackle Pilates.

    S&H Legs - Lunges?

I agree with jillybean. I can't execute the S&H stationary lunges in good form with a wide stance. I've also tweaked the sequence; I do the first two sets with my left leg forward, then I do the last two sets with my right leg forward instead of alternating left and right legs between each set.

Two schools of thought on bulking issue

Rachel, you make an excellent point: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I do know that although I question the attractiveness of my muscularity at times, when I am training consistently and my body fat % is reasonable, I get many compliments from both men and women on the shape of my legs.

    Let's talk strength.......

Hi Janice. Thanks for your kind words! I'm so glad that I could be of some help to you. You will really get alot of useful information out of Ken Sprague's book. I've had it for several years and I refer to it constantly for information and inspiration...it's packed with interesting tidbits...

Two schools of thought on bulking issue

I agree with everyone, muscles are beautiful. As someone who is naturally muscular, I know that the difference in appearance (bulky vs. curvy) is an issue of body fat. It's that simple.

    Let's talk strength.......

Janice, I have a book titled "More Muscle" by Ken Sprague (Human Kinetics) which answers all of your questions. Here are some excerpts (this is a great book, by the way): When dieters fight fat, their bodies fight back! In other words, your intellectualized goals might be contrary to your...
