RE: The primary reason I work out at home rather than t... For me, the time factor is HUGE. With two kids, a DH which sometimes is like a kid and a house to manage, I don't have an extra 40 minutes to drive to and from the gym. (20 there, 20 back). Also, I used to get up at 4:00 AM and workout...

    12 Week Challenge Check in....ALL WELCOME...12/31 START

This is just what I'm looking for. I use SparkPeople to track my food and follow my own eating plan but consistency is what I'm looking for -- and accountability. And fellow Cathe-ites are my favorite people, so hey, I'm in! I actually started today. No more Xmas cookies or chocolate. I have 10...

Do Cathe's comments ever make you laugh?

Think of how boring it would be without her remarks! I think half the reason I love her stuff is her personality shining through. And the other half is the quality of her work, which can't be denied.

Any suggestions for dry, cracked hands?

Yes, I second the Norwegian hand cream. But the best tip I have is to put moisturizer on your hands right out of the shower, right after you dry off. You will actually seal moisture into your hands. I'm a nurse too, so I have to really pay attention to this or my hands literally hurt.

    Does youth end at 35?

The only thing that bothers me is the skin. And I have pretty good skin as it's always been oily and I was not into tanning, but at 45 it's catching up with me. I always looked younger and in my 20's it was actually a disadvantage at work. Now I think it's a good thing. I've actually not told...

Night Shift - fitting in Cathe?

Thanks, that info does help me. Yes, I'm a new grad so I will have to do nights for about a year before I can get on days. Maybe I will get used to it and prefer it, I know women that have. I had not thought of doing a shorter workout, that's a great idea.

Night Shift - fitting in Cathe?

I am about to start working nights as a nurse. I will be doing 11 - 7 for 5 days a week for a while, then eventually (after about 4 months) be able to work 3 nights a week from 7p-7a. This is going to be a shock for me. I've been getting up early to do Cathe for about 8 years straight now, I get...

    Who gets one???

I get one. I got the flu once and then got pneumonia (a common complication) and took forever to recover. It was weeks before I could do Cathe again.

Suffering with ADULT ACNE any suggestions for me????????

RE: Suffering with ADULT ACNE any suggestions for me???... I just want to chime in that even though my skin breaks out, I need a moisurizer in the winter. I finally found one that works -- it is a gel, it's called Beyond Hydration, made by Bioelements. You can do a search to order it on-line...

    What's your discipline strategy?

I had to find a time to devote to working out that wouldn't interfere with the rest of my life. That meant getting up at 4 am to do it, but once I made myself get in bed at 9:00, it really became a routine. I just found that if I thought I could fit in a workout after working all day and with...

    what is a charter member?

I know it was after 1999 or 2000 because that's when I discovered Cathe. And I remember the old website design, this is better. I wish they would do an upgrade so that when you hover your mouse over a post's title, it would display a few lines of the body of the note. That's a new feature I've...

How long have you been working out with Cathe?

7 or 8 years. Can't remember if it was 1999 or 2000. I started with the first IMax from Collage, then loved it and I ordered the boxed set of CTX on videotape directly from Cathe. It's been nothing but pre-orders ever since! And the previous roadtrip, to meet my idol. That was quite an experience.

    Why Do Muscle Endurance?

Well, I must admit that when I saw your post I thought "Because it's FUN!". I just love this workout. I would like to see Cathe's reply, but I'm not giving it up. I definitely feel the burn after this one and that's one of my measures of effectiveness. I also have increased my weights over time...

    Live class report!!

So Jerry, I live in NJ and am thinking about doing this too. How do you make sure that she's there and didn't get a sub? Do you call the day before? And what's the club daily fee? I think it would be a big inspiration/motivation shot in the arm.

It is okay to rest. Your body will thank you.

I agree. I just find it awfully hard to figure out where the line is. I want to challenge myself and get stronger and increase endurance, and it's hard to figure out how to do that without increasing intensity and frequency. I force myself to take 1 day off a week and I hope that's good enough...

Why does food have such a hold on me???

You've gotten great advice. I also wonder if you're feeling too deprived. Instead of focusing on all the things you're taking away, focus on new things you're GIVING to your body. Try some berries or some other healthy but wonderfully tasty treat. I would rather eat fresh blueberries than...

How many of you don't eat bread?

Thanks for the responses. Some things to think about. I agree completely about the fruit, I would never cut that out because of the fiber & phytochemicals. It sounds like some of you don't eat bread but eat other complex carbs -- and I'm not hearing anyone saying no to complex carbs to an...

How many of you don't eat bread?

I am wondering how many of you don't eat any bread at all, including whole wheat. I got an Oxygen magazine at the store, something I don't usually read because it's a bit extreme. They had a lot of diets listed in the magazine and it was striking to me that it was all basically lean protein and...

    Eating and Exercise

RE: I think.... It's interesting to read the different things people do. 1. I've worked out very early (4 am) on empty stomach for years but have just started drinking 4 oz of that new V8 Fusion drink because I was running out of gas. Can't tell yet if it's helping enough. 2. Post-workout...

The "buzz" from a great workout!

RE: The Jerry - you are so right, I always scratch my head when people complain about working out and say that it's such a chore. I guess I just can't relate. It's such a rush to see myself get more skilled, it is fun to dance across the step with Cathe, and like you said, I feel like a zillion...
