    Need to lose weight

I agree with everything the others posters said. Go for it with STS but watch the diet. I have just started M3 and have dropped 2 sizes (I have cleaned up my eating during M2, not so much during M1). The clean eating makes all the difference. Good luck!

Derailed by the flu...where to pickup?

My advice is to pick up where you left off, starting with the workouts you missed. So start with the UB workouts you missed, as part of a complete week of STS (that means repeating the legs, but if you were fighting the flu, you may not have gotten as much out of it anyway), and then keep on...

    Anyone start Meso3 yet?

I just finished Disk 24, and am heading into my rest week before Meso 3. I was just wondering if anyone has started M3 yet, and if so, what do you think? What do we have to dread, I mean look forward to? Mel

    I do not want children!

We are not evil! I've been hearing the same thing from all the parents since DH and I got married 14 years ago. Everyone said we would change our minds, and we haven't. We have always known that we did not want children, and haven't wavered a bit. For the parents, we just told them that this...

    Redoing Meso 1

For what it's worth, I also thought I would skip the 1RM tests and just pick up the weight I thought I could handle (been doing Cathe WO's for 5 years). After reading so many posts about the tests, I finally did some of them (only those with 4 or 5 stars in the guide) and it turned out that I...

SNM: uploading 1 meso at a time?

SNM - Is it possible to upload Cathe's rotations 1 mesocycle at a time, instead of all 3 months at once? Also, would it possible to look at 2 months at a time, instead of 1 at a time? It would be so much easier to drag workouts around the schedule if this option were available. Thanks!

    Redoing Meso 1

I am also regretting not doing a 6 month rotation. Because of my travel schedule, I have been cramming each mesocycle into 3.5 weeks. Had I known what was coming, I would have just redone M1 when I finished it, but instead, I moved ahead. So now, I have 3 days left in M2, then the rest of...

    feeling overwhelmed

I also use a stability ball instead of the slanted risers, and tubing instead of a pull-up bar. Like you, I am trying to do this without spending a lot of extra money. The few things I did buy for STS that I love are weighted gloves (my gloves add 1.5# per hand and were less than $10 at...

Are there any gains by doing 6 month

I second that -- don't be afraid of M2. M1 was super hard for me too -- I never had such DOMS in my life. But M2 has been really different. I am lifting much heavier than I ever thought I could, but with the reduced reps and longer breaks, I found that I am not nearly as sore with M2 as I was...

    What comes next?

Question about 1RM For those of you who plan to repeat STS after the last rest week, will you redo your 1RM tests? Or will you just bump up the weights a bit from this round?

    Meso 2 Week 4 chest

brainstorming I just did that same workout today and found my 1RM to be spot-on. But in previous workouts from this mesocycle, I had similar issues. I found it to be more related to sleep, what I had been eating, and my general energy levels. So you might think about whether you were just...

    Weighted vest questions

Meso 2 I first figured out that I needed one in Disc 14, where I was supposed to use a 32# DB for the plie squats. My heaviest right now are 25's, and I have a hard time holding them (small hands). So I got a vest and used it on Discs 17 and 20, for the tri-set that has the plie squats. I...

    Question About Using Dumbbells

it depends It depends on how you entered in the numbers for your 1RM. If you used a BB for your 1RM test, then the number that appears on your workout card should be your total weight (so split it in 2 for each DB weight). If you used dumbbells for your 1RM test, you could either enter in the...

    Injured myself with Disc 17!

ice and heat too Oh, I am *so* sorry for you. I can definitely sympathize -- I have been there too, laying on the floor, having thrown out my back during a workout, screaming for DH to come help. I am not a medical professional, just someone who has injured herself over and over. I second...

For those of you already in Meso 2-vest question

vests on sale at Big5 I checked out weighted vests last weekend at Big5, and they had a 10# vest on sale for $20. I bought it, and it's working out well for me. They also had Cathe's vest there for $50. Hers looked smaller (it doesn't go down as far on the waist) and more comfortable, but I...

    Why dumbbells?

good question I would really like to hear an answer for this too. Since I have teeny tiny hands, heavy DB's are a real challenge for me, whereas a BB is usually fine. I also wonder if there is a reason for using DB's or if we can switch to a BB without sacrificing too much.

    For all you cat lovers

keep us posted I'm really glad you have an appointment today. We waited too long to get mine to the vet, and after a year of surgeries (including the sex change that a previous post referred to), we just lost him 2 weeks ago. So I have been following this post closely. Please let us know...

    Disk 14: Plie Squats

Hi Cathe and fellow STS-ers, I just did Disk 14, and have a question about the alternating hand plie squats. I'm supposed to do them with a 30# DB, which I don't yet have (I never thought I would need weights that heavy -- I owe that all to you, Cathe!). For today, I substituted 2 15's...

    For all you cat lovers

My advice is to get him to a vet ASAP. We just went through this with a male neutered cat. They are highly susceptible to urinary tract blockages, which cause them to squat everywhere. Sometimes they are able to get a few drops out (the smell you may be noticing), but yours may be unable to...

    Trouble holding dumbbell

I am having the same problem. I have tiny hands, so even my 25's are hard for me to hold for very long. I think the weighted vest might help with that, so that we still are working against the right amount of weight, but not all in the hands. Others have also recommended hooks (you can search...
