Ever Wonder What Cathe Looked Like as a Child?

Can't wait to see the pictures! I too have worn glasses as a child - very, very nearsighted. I wear contact lenses now, and glasses sometimes. I wish I could have laser eye surgery, but my eye doc told me that I'm not a good candidate because my pupils are get too large - I'd be at a very high...

    frustrated - workout clothes!

That's funny! I've never heard that 'belly' isn't to be used, but I do hear 'tummy button' instead of 'belly button.' As far as I know, belly isn't like fanny - a word not to be used in polite company! It's a 'bum bag', never, ever a 'fanny pack' in the UK. (If you don't know, fanny is your...

    frustrated - workout clothes!

Hi Buffy, We have TK Maxx (TJ Maxx equivalent in the UK) and that's where I get most of my workout clothes. All the bottoms seems to be low-rise there too. But, I did get a new sports bra )£5.99) and a Nike top (only £10!) there today. I guess I'm mostly frustrated at myself, because my...

    frustrated - workout clothes!

I just got back from shopping for some new workout clothes and I am frustrated! I have a long torso, and it seems like most of the long w/o tops stop at about my belly button, and the bottoms are all low-rise. So, my 'muffin top' (which isn't huge, but it bothers me) hangs out in-between the top...

Strength training - what to add (buy)?

OK! After much watching of video clips and reading workout descriptions I've decided that Supersets/PushPull will suit what I want best right now. I just don't have time to do 3-day splits (like the Gym Styles) and I prefer the variety and balance of exercises in SS/PP better than those in the...

TTOM: I think I just died and went to hell...I have a ?...

RE: TTOM: I think I just died and went to hell...I have... This happened to me, especially when I hit my mid-30s. No headaches, but cramps so bad that I had to take Nurofen Plus (ibuprofen + codeine - available over the counter here in the UK!) I started taking Evening Primrose Oil and...

Does body fat percentage correlate with fat intake?

I would say yes, in that fat is the most calorie dense nutrient. 1 gram fat = 9 calories, 1 gram carb = 4 calories, 1 gram protein = 4 calories. So, if you eat less fat, you will consume less calories, which should lead to weight loss, i.e. fat loss. Your total calorie level is important, too...

Planks - which version is more advanced?

Which version of planks is considered more advanced - palms on the floor, or forearms on the floor? Just wondering, as elsewhere I saw a suggestion for doing ball pikes w/ forearms on the floor as a modification, which leads me to believe that forearm planks are easier than straight arm. Or am I...

Workout for Someone with Back and Foot Pain

Hi, I'm not Cathe, but wanted to offer some suggestions anyway. Does your mom have access to a pool or water aerobics classes? Swimming or water aerobics would be good for her - the water would help support her body, and keep pressure off her foot. A recumbent stationary bike might work - again...

I think I'm obsessed with Cathe!

I'm right there with you! I love Cathe's workouts because they are challenging, yet she cues so well and is so friendly and encouraging. I used to (8 years ago, yikes!, before my son was born) work full-time as a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor, teaching primarily Step & Cardio...

Strength training - what to add (buy)?

Hi all, I'm itching to buy another Cathe DVD, and not sure what to get. I think I'd like some more strength training stuff - I've got Muscle Max and some circuit workouts. Here's what I have: Muscle Max High Step Challenge Step Jump & Pump/Step Blast Legs & Glutes/Kick Punch & Crunch...

Need advice on taking two weeks or more off!

Hi all, We are planning on moving back to the States this autumn, and I am already thinking ahead that I probably won't be able to work out for 2 weeks or more. Between packing up and shipping out here, and getting to the US and getting somewhat settled in our temporary digs (in-laws) I'm...

    Any Golfers?

I am getting back into golf! I just started getting into the game before I got pregnant w/ DS (now 8) and have dabbled in it since then. DS is now really interested, so I'm getting back into it too. My DH loves to golf, and is quite good. It's a nice family thing for us to do together. After...

any one here get depressed or lonely

I have struggled w/ depression and isolation in the past. The best thing I can do is keep active (both w/ exercise and other things) and get out of the house and do stuff. I enjoy my volunteer work - I think you would too! Good luck, and know that you are not alone.:-)

    TOM and feeling unmotivated!

Hi all, I'm feeling terribly unmotivated today - started my period and slept very badly last night, and feel just exhausted today. I was scheduled to do a cardio workout today, but I just can't bring myself to do it! I'm hoping I'll feel better tomorrow and can do a long, hard workout to make...
