cirucit max, bootcamp and ctx kickboxing

I would go with Bootcamp. It's more recent and the weight and core sections are more thorough IMHO. The cardio is high impact in both, but it lasts longer in Circuit Max.

Should I keep my Timesaver DVD?

I didn't keep mine. There was too much duplication with the other BB workouts. There is new weight footage, but it's very short, and there is no total upper body pre-mix (how could they have missed that?) which would have made the DVD more attractive to me. The push-up section is tough, but IMHO...

    Leg & Glutes-Modification question

We'll have to wait for Cathe to chime in, but I do think this exercise adds extra core work. It reminds me of the kneeling side kicks in Pilates, but it's slightly different from those.

    Over training

Clancy, I'm glad you posted. I thought I was the only one. I also find that when I do a strength workout for the legs, I cannot do step (especially Cathe's step) the next day. I just can't do it. I am also in my late forties. I've read that as you get older, your muscles take longer to...

    Any of you CLEAN eaters

Of course I'm a clean eater! I always wash the dirt off my fruits and vegetables before I eat them. :-)

    CTX - Upper Body Split

I sometimes split up the CTX upper body tape in a manner similar to the Pure Strength workouts. I do chest, shoulders and triceps on one day. Then, I rest or do cardio the next day, and do back and biceps on the third day. You can also put a lower body workout in between the two days. Leaner...

    Cardio Durations on Timesaver

Having just completed the Timesaver Rotation for a month, I'm pretty familiar with all these workouts. Timesaver #1 Warm-up 5 min. Step Aerobics 16 min. Timesaver #2 Warm-up 6 min. Step Aerobics 10 min. Hi Lo 10 min. Timesaver #3 Warm-up 6 min. Step Aerobics 20 min. Timesaver #4 Warm-up 7...

Freestyle book, LBS book or Imax 2 DVD

I bought the book at Borders when it first came out. As I said in another post, the routine is good but it's boring to work out from a book every day. To give you an example of one of her routines: 15 oblique crunches (she calls them cross crunches) step ups (3 sets of 15) pec dec (3...

Freestyle book, LBS book or Imax 2 DVD

The LBS book was about 12 dollars if I remember correctly. It does have lots of good information including a ballet style workout where you do every possible variation on a plie that there is. It can be done at home. Of the workouts you already have, you could do Leaner Legs on Monday...

    Freestyle Training

Most of the exercises in Laura Dayton's book can be done at home. If you can't do them at home, you can usually substitute in another exercise for that muscle group. You do have to have some knowledge of weight training to know what to substitute though. The problem I had with the program was...

Does anyone think MIC is harder than the Imax's??

Today I substituted in the first half of Kick, Punch and Crunch for the MIC Hi Lo. There was less impact, but I still got a great workout.

    Last high step question....color differeance

I suppose it depends on the dye lot, but my step topper purchased retail is closer to Royal blue than turquoise.

Have you ever played Hookie to workout with CATHE?

I have to confess that I've sneaked them in to watch them on my work computer, but I've never stayed home to exercise.

Does anyone think MIC is harder than the Imax's??

I worked my way up to doing the whole thing this summer. I was immensely proud of myself. I too think it's harder than the IMAXs, but in a different way. The impact is really tough, especially on my middle aged body (I don't have a good floor surface). I find impact on the step more tolerable so...

    decreasing thigh muscle size

I'm not Cathe, but have you tried walking lunges? You lunge, but continue moving forward as you do so. I tend to incorporate these into walking workouts. I find walking decreases my quad bulge, but I throw in some sets of walking lunges so I don't completely lose my muscle tone.

    Slim Series like PH?

I have not done the Slim Series, but I have viewed them. They use much lighter weights than Cathe. I would classify PH or LL as medium weight, medium rep workouts. SS is truly low weight and high rep. She three pound weights, but goes on and on. For the lower body she often uses no extra weight...

    Thought provoking question

I didn't see Legs and Glutes in there. I think it's a terrific lower body workout. I like to aternate it with CTX upper body. I think the two of them are a great match. I tend to match up Leaner Legs with Body Max Upper Body because they are comparable in length. Both have ab workouts so I...

    pilates workout suggestion

I haven't seen Maximum Burn but Accelerated Body Sculpting is pretty advanced. For a real advanced Pilates workout, I'd go with Hilary Burnett's Mind Body Mat Advanced Workout. That one is truly advanced and it's Pilates at its purest. Her intermediate workout is no slouch either.

Basic Step - Pictures and Details

I used to own a step just like that. Seeing it brought back memories. Now I can point people in the right direction when they ask for a beginning step workout.

    TS workout #1 - those push-ups!!

I tried to do them yesterday and I agree. This is a really tough section of the workout. Funny thing is that I'm not sore in my pecs today at all, but I am sore in the triceps. I'm wondering if I did something wrong.
