Now we need an upper body workout!

Butts and Guts looks great, but we'll need an upper body workout to go with it. I can't tell you how many times I've done PUB, Pure Strength, Gym Styles, and CTX Upper. I'd love a new long total upper body workout. I know there's only so many ways to hoist a dumbell, but you always come up with...

Which videos gave you the best results?

RE: How do you work this rotation, Kelly? I had very good results with the CTX series. It's very tough and I had to modify some of the high impact stuff, but I still lost fat. I didn't gain quite as much definition as I wanted in the upper body, but I didn't lose anything either. The ab/core...

Ever Wonder What Cathe Looked Like as a Child?

I always thought the actress who played the daughter on Judging Amy looked like Cathe's daughter or Cathe as a little girl.

    High Step Training Variation

Sounds like a great variation. I'm going to try this.

    PS vs S&H, GS

The workouts are more straightforward and a little shorter than the GS workouts. There's no band work in these and the leg floorwork uses a 15 lb BodyBar for the resistance (you could use your green band from the GS series if you don't have a BB). I also like the fact that I don't have to figure...

Another Instructor for low impact step aerobics

Kari Anderson is another good instructor. I've seen her beginner step dvd "GO" at stores like Ross and Borders. Cathe has a "Basic Step Body Fusion" dvd that is very good.

Can anyone suggest a circuit workout...

Low Max is not exactly a circuit workout but it does give your legs a good workout.

Legs & Glutes or GS Legs

I like the straightforward nature of GS Legs but I hardly ever have time to do it in its entirety so I end up using L & G or even PLB a lot more often. If time is an issue for you, choose L & G. If not, go with GS Legs.

    Splitting Up GS Legs

I'm presently doing a Gym Styles rotation but I find that the Legs workout is so very long that I'm thinking about dividing it up into two separate workouts. Does anyone do this? Has it affected your results?

New to working out with Cathe

I think Step Blast is somewhat similar to Rhythmic Step and the dvd also has Step, Jump & Pump which is a lot of fun. I actually prefer dumbells to barbell because with a barbell it's easier to cheat with the stronger side.

WHAT DVD IS SIMILIAR TO POWER HOUR?

    I would suggest Muscle Max.

Cathe or Anybody: What makes this move so challenging?

I'm not Cathe, but you may not want to straighten the leg all the way anyway. This leads to knee problems in a lot of people. Straighten the leg, but not completely.

Why does no one trade away GS?

I'm another one who loves these workouts. This is the best weight training set available today. They can get kind of long, but you don't have to do every set. You'll still get great results. I admit to substituting in Legs and Glutes for the lower body simply because it's a shorter workout...

Cathe, why 2 or three sets for a weight exercise?

In the Pure Strength series, Cathe mentions that it's very hard to lift heavy enough at home to exhaust the muscles (ONCE YOU'RE PAST THE BEGINNER STAGE). She makes up for that by doing more sets. You can always just do one set with the heaviest weights you can manage and see how it works for you.

A Question about Cardio and weight workouts

I would go with Body Max. It has a challenging step section, a circuit section combinining step cardio and lower body weight work and then an upper body section. Cathe states right in the workout that this workout is meant to challenge your endurance. I also like Cardio and Weights, but I...

    Substitute for CTX Upper Body

I think the upper body portion of Muscle Max would work pretty well.

    Toughest Cathe Workout?

I think Leaner Legs has to be right up there. When you have extra time, combine it with the upper body section from Power Hour and you will have a very tough full body endurance workout. If you separate your upper and lower body workouts, use CTX upper body instead. These are endurance...

Upper body workouts when using L&G in a rotation

I use it with the upper body section of Body Max, but if you don't like S & H Legs, sub it in.

benefits of lying floor work for legs

If you lift the whole leg it will work the outer thighs, but if you rotate out the knee only, it'll hit the outer edge of tie in area. Clear as mud?

benefits of lying floor work for legs

Based on my own experience only. When I do floor work, I have a cut in the glute/hamstring tie-in area (the thutt). When I do only squats and lunges, I don't. My favorite exercise for this is clams. Lie on your side with knees bent at a 90 degree angle and open your knee up, but not your foot...
