Cathe, How Much is TOO Much?

Current studies show that your results will slow with too much sustained exercise as the old bod becomes efficient....having said that, watch out for injury..with me, I was 10 hours a week hard impact- for years...and at 43, the joints began to fail....more isn't always more....

The worst live class I have ever experienced!!

I can't imagine boxing moves with weights! I taught Turbokick for a year, really mindful of form and STILL developed rotator cuff AGONY due to simple overuse! That's really awful!

I'll be passing on these new DVD's

HI Olivia, Funny, before 4DS, I felt the same way....the workouts had become SOOO long and inefficient that even Cathe herself was injured...too much overuse, too long cardio ....then came 4ds - and STS seems like they will be shorter but more effective....keep an eye open - I'm closer to 50...

    taking a break from Cathe-long

Yeah, you're burned out...and Cathe's old stuff is extreme and not current with today's training suggestions (less, more intense training)...take 6 weeks and relax..... Lots of us have been there.....avoiding life by centering our lives around our diet and fitness rather than having diet and...

Do you think a "Master's Certifcate" would be worthwhile?

RE: Do you think a My undergrad was in International Studies, and I spent a year at the Sorbonne.....it was 1983, and for working class kids, Reaganomics crippled our families with high interest rates, lay offs etc....so I took a loan and went for the MBA...What got me an executive position at...

    jari love

If you use appropriate weights, Jari is a GREAT and economical choice...she's very low key (and way too thin) and warm....I can't take much in perky - except Tony in p90x+, he's sweet, but either Jari or Cathe are great choices.

Will 2 days of cardio be enough?

Kariev - that apparently is a myth as well....or at least, the research using real people in real life settings has NOT proved that out at all...that long cardio sessions are counter productive and cause more injury in fact.....makes sense when you think about it...same with lighter weights/high...

Will 2 days of cardio be enough?

All the newest research in training journals and studies done by actual people who do the work - like Cathe.....long cardio makes your body VERY efficient...i.e does NOT burn more calories....short intense intervals - like the 4ds and the workouts of the past couple years are more...

He's at it again. I hate my life

mtnmom - thank you - I had tears in my eyes as I wrote that post - who would think, all these years later, my dad, now dry and wonderful for over 30 years, remarried to a great woman - that all that hurt could spring up fresh again. Anonymous - I did feel angry at your post - any more...

    My poor kitty :(

Did the vet suggest food that would help prevent the crystals? I had a cat die from that 20 years ago and I still feel so bad - I didn't know there was one food better than another!

At the risk if incurring wrath of everyone - you've told us twice your life is unbearable - first time, shame on him....second time......shame on....well, you know the rest......I grew up for awhile in a house like yours until my mom left, and we ended up moving from a big house on the beach...

passing the plateau of weight loss

As a vidiot/gym rat since my 20's, my weight didn't start sneaking up until I hit 43 (I'm 46 now) - my thyroid? Totally efficient! My hormones? Every 30 days (just what I need, used to have 4 in a year, now every month!), have taught as many as 10 classes (turbkick, bodypump, and spinning) and no...

    Luna Bars

Luna bars and green bars etc, aren't bad tasting as far as those things go, but for Cathe and weight/HIIT training, they are very calorie laden with dense pack of carb/sugars....not enough protein....the eas bars, even south beach are higher in protein....and personally, I'm getting away from...

    Body for Life for Women?

I'm with fitmom - BFL is the one to go with - or NROLW, or fityummymummy - BFL for women is comparing Cathe to Richard Simmons (who I love, but he wouldn't kick my butt!)...I get a half hour at Barnes and Noble every week while my son takes guitar lessons (sure you're all thrilled to know that)...

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH - you know, I have free access to a gorgeous gym on the river - I'm a group ex instructor myself, and could put together my own sts...but I'm a vidiot! I like having company! Sigh, I'm supposed to pay everything off too this month............ But...

    HIIT and Heart Rate

HI Debbie, This is from the Body for LIfe women's yahoo group - and just my 2 cents....I DON"T go for lung burning vomit intervals....to 85 percent of my max (which is 160 for me) during the high point is just fine.... From BFL Women's chat, author is Skwigg: "Here's the deal. The 20...
