Which Lauren Brook DVD to start with?

Yes, start with Vol. 1. You'll love this DVD. Vol. 2 is more challenging in that it has more advance KB moves like the TGU, windmills, overhead squats, things like that. I started with a 20# gofit KB. It has served me very well. I did get a 25# one for Xmas and mostly use it for swings...

Does anyone modify MMA Kickbox and boxing to low impact?

I modified Boxing the other day. I subbed KB swings for the leg drills. I didn't want impact that day and KB swings work legs/provide cardio with no impact.

    A for MMA Boxing

Today is boxing day so I felt it appropriate to do the MMA Boxing workout! I liked it a lot. This w/o worked my core more than any other "box" workout that I've done. I particularly liked the third combo where you do the rock back then cross. One of the things I really liked about this...

Lauren Brooks Ultimate Body Sculpt Volute 2 Kettlebell DVD

Any reviews yet? I got mine, but told DH he could wrap it up and put it under the tree. Maybe it'll be my Christmas Day workout :p

    Cathelete's Cookie (Recipe) Exchange

I'm a tiny bit embarrassed to admit I made 14 different kinds of cookies to pass out to friends and DH's coworkers this year. I try to make about one kind of cookie for each recipient, so 14 folks getting cookies = 14 different kinds. I try to save as many as possible for myself! Keeping them...

Any Recommendations for Healthy Cookbook for a Christmas Gift?

With those guidelines I'd stay far away from Tosca Reno and the Muscle Chow book. Those are both pretty hard core clean eating. Ellie Krieger is more gentle. I also like Cooking Light Magazine. How about a magazine subscription instead? There is also Eating Well that's pretty good, too.

    Help with loose leaf tea

No one's mentioned Upton yet: www.uptontea.com. Not for the beginning tea drinker, perhaps, but once you know what you like it's a great place to get tea. They carry the largest variety of teas I've ever seen (that can be confusing for a new tea drinker). They have amazing customer service...

    2 questions

Pinkquinn, I thought about you this morning when I read on Yahoo that some researchers in Britian found chocolate milk to be more effective than protein drinks in allowing bicyclers to take a second ride four hours later. I'm sure I'm horribly misquoting that, but the point was chocolate milk...

    2 questions

Recovery drink: personally I use Spirutein which is a soy-based one. I tried a whey-based one and it gave me terrible heartburn. I'm a bit intolerant of lactose, so I don't know if that was the problem, but the soy products don't give me heartburn. One thing you might consider is seeing if...

    Starting a new chapter..... HELP

Here's another old broad sending her baby to Kindergarten this year. I'm 46! This year I'm recuperating from my 8 years of being a SAHM and then I'll think about doing something else.

    STS workout journal

I did the 3D binder thing, too, with workout cards saved sequentially. I just add notes each time I do a workout.

    Equipment for best results?

With Meso 1, a barbell is certainly helpful because the workouts move so fast that it works much better to have everything set up as far in advance as possible. Thinking about that first comment, I do have pace weights and a lot of that 30 second rest in meso 1 is spent making non-standard...

So You Think You Can Dance

Am I the only Evan fan? I like him because he is different than all the contemporary dancers they have over and over and over...a breath of fresh air. I disliked the disco number, too. I honestly feel the judges "root for their own" and give positive reviews to their favorites regardless...

    Good anti-aging skin care

I use Renova. This is a prescription Retinoid that works by plumping up the collagen. At least that's what my dermatologist said. I've seen it mentioned in magazines like Prevention as a good way to go. It's about $125-$150 a tube, but that lasts a long time since you only use a pea-sized...

    Botox?

I have not tried Botox, but have been pretty happy with my Renova prescription. Also, have you heard that "bangs are better than Botox"? I love my bangs! They're saving me a lot of $$.

OMG! Started STS over. Major DOMS.

This thread is interesting to me. I am getting ready to go on a 2 1/2 week vacation but squeezed in STS 1, 2 and 3 this week. I thought my backside was going to fall off it was so sore! Upper body a bit, but not so much as lower. Why is that? Just to add, I finished a 3 1/2 month complete...

    Grrr! Forearems--any advice?

One thing that I did on deadlifts to help with forearm fatigue was to use an overhand grip with one hand and underhand grip with the other. I think that disc 15 was the worst for me as far as the forearm burn goes. It got better after that.
