    Using mini-trampoline for high-intensity drills

I've done MIC on the rebounder. The jumpy stuff from Kick Max also works well on the rebounder. Even when not doing all the workout on the rebounder, if there are intervals or moves that are two high-impact for you, keep your rebounder set up to the side so you can go to it when needed.

    Do "split" routines really work???

I would agree with this as well.

    Do "split" routines really work???

Hi, Nancy! Yes, they do work, for several reasons: 1) recovery is important for muscle growth (to repair microtears in the muscle) and splits give sufficient recovery time 2) when you work only 2 or 3 muscles groups during a session, you are spending more time on those muscle groups than...

Container for taking smoothie to work, anyone?

I put mine in a stainless steel water bottle, then in an insulated lunch bag. Though sometimes I don't even use the bag (but make sure I use frozen fruit so the smoothie is cold to begin with. You could also use an insulated stainless steel bottle (like those sold for hot and cold beverages)...

    Walking and Aerobic Capacity

I actually haven't done a Cathe cardio workout for a while, but I definitely can walk at a pace that gets me to my aerobic threashold; then I'm breathing heavily (I don't usually use a HR monitor, but at the racewalking clinic I attended, we used one to find our lactate threashold and estimate...

    Favorite Water Bottle

I have several stainless steel water bottles of different sizes. I think they are more ecofriendly than plastic, and I trust that they get clean when I wash them (I use a bottle brush). They also work well for smoothies. I picked up some at my local Walgreens, and some at a food coop.

Touch of the flu & rest

Drink lots of fluids, nap, get rest. (It may feel 'passive,' but your immune system will be given the opportunity to actively fight off whatever is ailiing your). And don't get back into things too soon.

    Walking and Aerobic Capacity

Hi, Shannon! In the past 3 years, my main form of seasonal cardio (spring through fall) has been outdoor walking and it's something I've become quite passionate about. I'm currenlty in transition from 'speedwalkingn' to actual 'racewalking'. It takes a while to develop speed, and it's...

Organic Milk or Organic Fruits and Veggies? Help me pick.

The Environmental Working Group keeps a list of the most and least contaminated produce here: EWG's Shopper's Guide to Pesticides | Environmental Working Group | EWG.org I highly recommend buying organic for the 'dirty dozen,' conventional for the 'clean 15,' and organic when you can for other...

    The 200+ Club.....Really?

I've always heard that, too, but more recently have read that racewalking burns more like 120 calories per mile (and it's definitely intense enough to have a good afterburn, especially if you do intervals). That's once you work up to walking a 12 minute mile (or 13, depending on source) or...
