    Worms on my cashews!

Knoxville's post reminded me: If I store nuts, seeds or grains out of the fridge for any period of time, I store them in Mason jars, sealed with a "Pump-n-Seal" (I LOVE this little thing! So simple to use. It takes all the oxygen out of the jars, and keeps stuff so fresh!): </title> <link...

    Amazing My 120 pound journey

Interesting. I didn't know there was a connection between antibiotics and weight gain. Is it because of their affects on the good bacteria in the gut?

Trying to Stick With a Budget

Thanks for the recipes, Tracy! I knew about using white vinegar in the wash, but never thought of using cheap hair conditioner. For eating on a budget, it really does help to make things from scratch, buy in bulk (beans, grains, seeds, nuts) from a co-op or similar store (or join a buying...

    Amazing My 120 pound journey

That is inspiring. I'm always astounded and amazed when people lose what amounts to the weight of an entire person. But also perplexed at how anyone can gain that much excess weight in the first place. Good on him for taking things into his own hands and achieving his goals. An Ironman is...

Cathlete Turkey Trot 5k Race Challenge?

I haven't found it. I wonder if they haven't got it up yet, and will set it up next week?

    What are your substitutes for....

I was rinsing some containers out for recycling, and ended up with two really nice caps from and açaí beverage: not quite as tall as the cup (which adds to the challenge, especially since I'm taller than Cathe and the crew) but a pretty purple color, and matching!

    BPM of Triset Upper-Body workout?

Would love to know, as I'm planning on using the "no-music" option on this one and using my own music. TIA!

    Working out with DOMS

If it's "intense" DOMS, I'd give the body parts that are suffering a bit of a break by either working different body parts, or doing a mild-to-moderate workout for the area. Usually moving is better than not for recovery, so anything from a yoga/stretch workout, to a walk (if it's lower-body...

    cathe's discs

Mindy's and Cathe's seem pretty much the same to me, at least the 'carpet' versions. IMO, Cathe's "bare floor" covers seem like they'd work better than Mindy's Gliding discs made for bare floors. Josie, if you haven't done "Slide and Glide" yet, you might want to do that workout, as there is...

Low Impact Series: What were they thinking?

There are a lot of functional/balance type moves in the entire LIC series that work the core without specific ab work. I, for one, prefer to work my core that way. I agree that some of the music is not that good (Upper Body Trisets is the worst). I used to really like Cathe's music choices...

    Slide & Glide disc problem

NO type of gliding disc works well on puzzle mats. An easy 'fix" is to buy a piece of carpet remnant, or use a bath rug when you need to slide and glide.

    Seeking workout friend

Check out the "check-ins and challenges" forums. You might find a group you'd like to join. Or, if not, you could start your own.

    Catching up on old posts

Hi, Kenja! A while back, I think Cathe decided to keep her private life and family life a bit more private, especially when the forums grew so much. She did post a recent photo of the boys in their halloween costumes, I think.

What have I signed up for? Waivers!

I signed up for a 5k called the "Goose Poop Challenge" (had to have one of those shirts!) that takes place tomorrow. Like most 5ks, there is a waiver to sign, but this one takes the cake. Rather than a couple of general sentences releasing them of all liability in case of injury to myself, or...

    Garmin forerunner 410.

I have a 205 (no HR monitor) and a 305 (same as 205, but with HR monitor). I haven't used the HR monitor yet, but I LOVE my Garmins! IIRC, some reviews of the 405 on Amazon are not very favorable. Quite a few people compare it negatively to the 205/305.

    What are your substitutes for....

I was thinking of using catnip mice if I forget to pick up Dixie cups! Tony Horton uses a water-bottle cap for some moves in P90x and other workouts. That would work as well.

    Is Amanda Dymanic or What?

I often found myself watching Amanda while previewing: her moves are nice and crisp and powerful. I'd like to see her in a kickboxing workout (from the little bit of KB that's in this series, she looks like she has really good form, especially with punches.

So what do you think of the music?

I've previewed all but the yoga videos, and overall the music is okay to good*, except IMO for Trisets Upper Body, which I will have to use the music-off option for (or risk throwing a weight through my TV): continuous screetching guitar with no melody or rythm doesn't work for me, even as...
