What did you feel on the day you found out you were pregnant?

The book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler is excellent like shopaholic said. When I got pregnant my biggest sign was feeling the usual cramping and bloating associated my period - but it would peak and then abate like going up and down on a rollercoaster. So, I began to...

Stupid weight charts - a rant

My normal weight is also deceptive. I am 5'7" and usually around 160 pounds (so my bmi is around 25.5 i think - "slightly overweight") - but I am healthy in every way and a size 6 normally (i say this b/c it doesn't apply to my current pregnancy figure). My body fat, however, usually hovers...

    Dyson vaccuum cleaners

oh I didn't mean cheap as in expensive...I was refering to the quality of the product...I think that Dysons are cheaply made from a quality standpoint:) They are most definetely expensive!!:o annie mta: I don't think that Miele and Bosch vacuums are available to buy in the US in...

Anyone ever broken a pinkie toe??

Ouch! I did this a few years ago. I couldn't workout for about a month. I put ibuprofen gel on it a few times a day and wrapped that puffy medical tape around it and the 2 toes next to it for some support. I hope it feels better soon!

    Dyson vaccuum cleaners

The original Dyson plant is located 10 miles from my home. I have owned one and bought my parents one. I didn't like it - lasted about 2 yrs and after that it lost suction. The parts also began to fall off of it. My parents, who have 6 pets, love it. But, it's starting to fall apart for...

Vegetarians and results without high protein diet

Hi - I'm a veggie too and I am not sure if you are looking to reduce your body fat percentage, lose weight, or just become very defined and lean? I achieved good results using the glycaemic index and eating more higher protein foods (yet vegetarian friendly foods) like beans and eggs and...

Moms to be check in week of oct 23rd

hi all, I had a slow week this week and only managed to get in two workouts: Basic Step and Chriti Taylor's Solid Gold Cardio. I've decided I'd try a belly support tube - so it should arrive any day now. Has anyone else tried one of these things? It sounds like everyone is doing very well -...

    Protein powders ?

Maybe others could provide better advice in regard to this (I have no experience with eating these at all), but I would be unsure or wary of taking a protein powder. I would suggest asking your doctor or midwife about it before coming to a decision. Someone here a few months ago suggested...

    Postpartum rotation?

Oh I agree with Morris, but part of my motivation for getting back into shape is to help manage my pcos (polycystic ovaries). I have insulin resistence and difficulty losing weight in general because of it (it usually takes me about a year to lose 20-25 pounds)...so, it is something that I feel...

    Postpartum rotation?

Does anyone know of a postpartum rotation for Cathe's workouts? I know that I have lost some of my fitness level since the pregnancy and it would be nice to have a 12 week plan to help post-pregnancy women get back into shape. There is a 12 week rotation posted elsewhere on the site, but my...

    Do you do kiegel exercises?

I do, but I am pregnant. It was recommended that I do 60 a day and work up to 120. Presently, I do about 80 a day..sometimes I forget and do nothing. Also, it's supposedly good to tighten and release on three steps, each step getting more tight or loose and then release after the 3rd...

    Just checking in....

I am very sorry that you are going through this. I wouldn't worry about whether you workout etc at this point. Just do what you can when you can. I can't offer any words of advice because I have never been confronted with a close relative suffering from a long term illness. But, as with any...

    Do you take antidepressants?

I answered no - but I did take Wellbutrin about 6 years ago for 6 months. I then started exercising regularly and taking care of myself and the depression eventually lifted. They were very helpful during the time that I took them.

Moms to be checkin Oct 14th

hello moms-to-be, I got in my requisite 3 workouts a week. I can't wait until I no longer view them as a chore and find them fun again! I spent yesterday afternoon in the hospital for some monitoring because I passed out at the supermarket. I still have no idea why - my blood pressure...

    quick question-

It was also recommended that I didn't have any artificial sweeteners as well. However, I think nutrasweet and sucralose are fine for the most part as long as you are comfortable with them. My only fear about some of the diet drinks is that they have Acesulfame Potassium in them - and I read in...

Has anyone ever used those morning sickness braclets???

I used these, but they didn't work for me. I am sorry that you feel so sick - this period is not easy! Strangely enough, preggipops (these little fruit candies) helped alleviate it somewhat while I sucked on them...You can find them on the net but I got them from Target. I also tried...

    Nursing sports bras?

I've never tried this. But, I did notice some at JC Penneys for about $20. I have no idea how good they are - it doesn't seem like there are lot of choices out there. I did find the below link for a more industrial looking nursing sports bra. http://tummystyle.com/detail.aspx?ID=851...
