    Anyone try Jari Loves DVD's?

With regards to working out with a foot injury, I recently sprained my foot so badly I thought it was broken. The doctor said this kind of injury can take months to heal. Bummer. I have slowly been easing back into light impact, but what saved me for cardio has been spinning. You might be...

    P90X rotations

For me, the strength workouts of P90X are the program's best aspect. I like Kenpo (not the warm-up, do that last as a stretch), but not the other cardio workouts as well. If I were to combine, I would use the X strength and Cathe cardio. Also, I would add in or sub a Cathe leg workout as the...

Finished the Hunger Games Trilogy- now what?

I read Divergent for book club and pretty much hated it. Loved Hunger Games, though. Divergent is much more violent and for me not in a good way. Also, I did not find the writing style to be as engaging. Book club also considered reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone as the young adult pick...

    STS Turbo Tower

yep, just checked the walmart.ca site and they have it. Search on Altus and scroll down a bit. That should be more convenient anyway, not having to deal with shipping and customs from the states.

    STS Turbo Tower

Did you try Walmart? Not sure if Walmart Canada carries the Altus products but I was able to find it at Walmart when Cathe looked like hers would be out of stock for awhile.

    What brand of green tea?

i like www.uptontea.com. Their selection is pretty intimidating. I like the gunpowders, especially the special grade temple of heaven. I also like the Chun Mee "Precious eyebrows". Those are both pretty inexpensive, but still high quality. More expensive teas I enjoy are the dragon wells...

    brazil butt lift

I like this set. The workouts are fun and someone who enjoys Zumba might appreciate that. A complaint I have heard is that all the background exercisers are quite young. That sort of thing does not bother me but thought I would mention it. Also, the workouts are only about 1/2 hour each. I...

Need ideas for meals that can be frozen

I am the freezer queen. I freeze almost everything. Soups freeze really well, anything without potatoes or cream. Most casseroles like the lasagne mentioned earlier, stuffed shells, chicken and rice, etc. Bean freeze really well, as do muffins, scones, other quick breads. Stuff...

    Thoughts on invisible fencing?

We put our invisible fence in ourselves and it is not very expensive at all that way. The main cost is in the labor. One of our dogs learned pretty fast, like in one day: the 85# weenie, afraid of our 8# cats dog. The other dog is more stubborn but seems to be trained now. He went...

    iPhone apps for little kids

You're never too young for Angry Birds! I would think Stack the States is a bit much for five, but my seven-yr-old can do it with help. Try the free version. Icee maker might be good, or any of those food-making apps. Fruit ninja free version Sky burger Farm story Talking...

    Excessive water weight gain?

Had you done the LIS workouts before as well? If you are layering on two new systems at once, that is a lot. Also, since you describe bloating, could that be anything to do with your diet? Month two will be layering on yet more changes with new intensity. I would ask if your goal is to...

    Cathe DVDs using heavy weights

The one series I would stay away from if you cannot lift heavy is STS. Others could probably be used with lighter weights and still get results, even the gym styles, but they would be less good. Also 4DS uses "heavier" weights. Go more for the endurance-type offerings and you will be ok.

    Different perspective on Muscle Hypertrophy

But if you are actually building muscle, actually layering on new tissue, that would not be adaptive loss, I wouldn't think. I guess my question would be, "what is the difference between hypertrophy (increase in muscle size) and new tissue building (also an increase in muscle size)"? Over...

Can anyone recomend a good fiber supplement

I have been hearing a lot about chia seeds and was actually holding them in my hand at the store the other day, but was not quite sure how to use them. So basically just sprinkle into smoothies or onto yogurt? Other ideas?

? for those that feed birds.

You will attract the largest variety of seed-eating birds by offering black oil sunflower seeds. The millet is largely enjoyed by ground eating birds such as juncos. So the other birds will kick it out of the feeder, it lands on the ground where juncos (and doves, too, I believe) will eat it...

    Botox experience requested

I can't remember who said it, but I love the quote, "Bangs are better than Botox". Probably because I wear bangs and they do help cover the 11's! Cheaper, too.

    STS for Teens?

I am normally all about the 1RM and pushing yourself with STS. However, for a teen just starting out with weight training, I would probably start with an easier set to lay a muscle foundation. Supersets/push-pull comes to mind, but if you don't have those, possibly the pryamids. Then the...

    Weights for Squats

If you need to be careful with squats, I would be very cautious about going heavy. I, too, can squat way more weight than I can lift safely at home. I just don't do the squat rack legs set, or if I do, use less weight than my 1RM. Personally, I find the leg trisets in Meso 2 to be a...

Question about STS 6 1/2 month rotation

In general I stay with the same weights for both weeks. However one of the advantages of the six month rotation is it allows you to tweak weights on that second week if they were not correct the first week. That is one of the big advantages of the six month rotation, IMO. So take careful notes!
