What is the saddest movie you've ever seen

It is good, but man, it's a tough one to see. I literally had to turn the TV off and leave the room for a bit afterwards.

    Oh No! Patrick Swayze!!!

Very sad! What a horrid disease.

STS shocked the hair off my head! Telogen Effluvium anyone?

Have you been to the doctor? Every thing I have read points to sudden hairloss being a medical condition and is often reversable. Worth it to check it out.

    Amy Bento

I like Amy's step. My problem with all step is that after I do them a time or two, all of the repetion becomes BORING!! I get tired of doing the same thing over and over again to get it down. (Do I really need 4 repeats of a repeater - seriously?). I tend to take Cathe's finished products...

** 29yo F needs HELP w/30-DAY WORKOUT PLAN to prep for Firefighter Agility Test!

I third what Gayle said. From what I know of fire fighting training, Cathe workouts will not cut it. Cross fit is much more the kind of workout you'll need. However, that being said, knees are not something to mess around with. They are such a pivotal part of the way we walk and move that...

Pizza Shop Must Pay for Employee Weight Loss Surgery

*Jaw drops to floor* Oh, that is crazy!! And the reality is that because of lawsuits such as this, companies like that will hesitate before hirer someone overweight again. After all, all they have to do is run into a door handle and claim severe back pain and they, too, can have free weight...

What is the saddest movie you've ever seen

One of the most heart wrenching movies I've ever seen (to the point I absolutely cannot see it again) is "Boy in the Striped Pajamas". Girly tear jerkers - yes, Terms of Endearment, Steel Magnolia's. I read Marley and Me and decided then and there that I can't watch the movie.

    Best Running Dog Breed?

I agree with the having DH help in selecting the dog. Animals as surprises are rarely a good idea. Like Carola, I have an Australian Shepherd - I have the full sized version, not a mini. He's about 55 pounds and can run for miles. He's very energetic, but also settle well (which is a Jimmy...

    Clean Chili receipe

I won a chili cook off (have a trophy and everything) with this recipe from cooking light. You can sub turkey for the pork, but the pork makes it good: http://find.myrecipes.com/recipes/recipefinder.dyn?action=displayRecipe&recipe_id=1867598

if it ever happened to me...

Oh, believe me, he'd be on the floor wondering if he'd ever rise again (in every sense of the word - I have a mean groin kick), and I would be calmly explaining to the police officers that he assaulted me and mine and I was merely giving back. I'd get off and he'd go to jail. You have the...

    CCPP results!

It's not easy, but it's not as hard as it looks, either. Even if the bike falls, it falls off and stops. You don't really hurt yourself. And you do get a lot of benefits from it. There is a nice little learning curve though!

    CCPP results!

Carola - rollers are pretty much what the sound like. Three big rolls that move you set the rear wheel between two and the front wheel on the front one and try to stay upright. Here's a video of a guy who CAN ride them on them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXV4S5TPctc Thanks to Cathe's...

My boys first day at doggie daycare/kennel..

Jimmy, the boy in my avatar, LOVES his doggy day care. Just LOVES it. I've had him to several (he's very well socialized) and currently he's going to daycare on Thursdays and with the Dog Hikers on Tuesday (www.beyond companions.com - local group). They do a 1-2 hour hike, then come back...

    CCPP results!

I decided to do CCPP today. My friend (I thought he actually considered me a good friend, too :p) gave me a set of rollers for my bike so I tried them today. Figured CCPP had that nice long intro, so I would have plenty of time to get my balance. Ha! Took me 20 minutes before I felt safe...

What to do after ten years of stay at home

If the medical profession interests you, go to the American Red Cross and start getting training. If you don't need the money there are so many volunteer things you can do through the Red Cross and you can do those anywhere - the training transfers. I would start with getting your First...

Would you let your 13 yo daughter do this?

One of the companies I worked for brought in Neal Petersen for a motivational speaker. (he wrote Journey of a Hope Merchant). He was a poor kid from South Africa (mixed race, I believe), who managed to build himself a boat and enter one of the world's prestigious solo around the world races...

    Border Collie application-DENIED

Janie - you're in California right? Let me talk to NorCal Aussie rescue (www.norcalaussierescue.com). I've fostered dogs for her and she's pretty good about it. She's also good at matching Aussie's to people. She has so many of them that you'll get a good choice. If you'd like to me to look into...

Talk to me about road bikes and road biking....

Gayle - I just completed a 100 mile ride on my bike in July. I spend a lot of my time on my road bike and I love it. As you get more used to riding and can go faster, you can get your heart rate up and keep it there. The only thing that burns more calories for me than road biking is running...
