What's Your Favorite Piece of Clothing?

It would be very unfair of me to choose one piece of clothing above all the rest. I don't want to give my clothes a complex or hurt them in any way. They treat me very well & I love ALL my clothing equally. :P

    low impact, high intensity

I've never tried the gazelle, but from what I've seen from commercials it appears the pedals go forward & backward, while the arc trainer has more of a circular motion. Also you can adjust the intensity level & the incline, which can make a huge difference.

Janet Jackson has ruined my wardrobe.

I agree Marie that things are cyclical with just about everything. I just hate it that now my body's in the shape I want it to be I can't find the type of clothes I want to wear. I think you can wear midriff tops & low slung jeans w/o looking like a ho. And I really hate the new Victorian...

    low impact, high intensity

Cindy, here's a link: http://www.epinions.com/Cybex_Arc_Trainer My gym has this kind & also the ones with the moving handles, similar to the elliptical.

    low impact, high intensity

I don't know how much you're willing to spend, but if you're gonna purchase a major piece of home workout equipment I'd recommend the arc trainer rather than the elliptical. I use both at the gym, but the arc trainer is definitely my preference. Both use the same basic movements but the arc...

Janet Jackson has ruined my wardrobe.

OMG Lori, with the bows on the top of the zippers? And remember that ugly stonewash? LOL! I always get stretch denim but I get one size larger, they fit perfectly.

Is that you fitness freak 366 in oxygen

Wow, Debbie, that is so awesome! And I just checked out your picture trail, you are so amazing--I just can't believe the transformation in a couple of years--did you do that all with home workouts?

Janet Jackson has ruined my wardrobe.

Well, it's not really a matter of NOT buying clothes I don't like, it's more a matter of actually FINDING clothes I do like.

Janet Jackson has ruined my wardrobe.

OK this is my latest fashion rant. Has anyone else noticed how much more conservative the latest fashions are? No more belly baring tops. The "boyfriend fit" jeans are more popular than slim fit. Super low rise jeans are on their way out. "Blouson" tops, dolman sleeves, baggy shirts are now...

    What worked for you?

Ditto on the clean eating. I've been a gym rat for the last 16 years but definitely put on some lbs. after I turned 30. Went from being able to eat anything I wanted to having to watch every bite I put in my mouth. Back to the question--the gym has always been very inspirational for me b/c...

Do not under estimate the power of plank work

Same here. First did planks with Cathe, then I started pilates & my core is now officially, totally awake! :) It's definitely given my abs more definition, plus the pilates has had a very positive effect on my other workouts. Using that core awareness with things like pull ups is so...

    Good Luck Tomorrow Jes!

OMG just reading this thread is making my teeth hurt & my stomach queasy. Jes I'm glad everything went OK--4 pieces, ICK! I remember having my wisdom teeth removed though--they did give me some good drugs.

Has anyone ever broken a toe?

Yes you have Sarah--I read somewhere that people break their toes an average of 450 times during their life without even knowing it. :o The bones in your toes are so tiny you fracture them pretty much every time you stub a toe. Anyway I've had some major stubs--once I took of the entire top...

So I tried my first live kickbox class over the w/e

Same with the ju jitsu--knife defense, gun defense, etc. etc. I still won't go back to it though--I learned what I needed there for the most part, & it's just too damaging to my hands.

    Wisteria Lane chat.....spoilers here!

Well, I think the prisoner in the basement is Mrs. Applewhite's son, & the hot teenager is Bree's daughter. So Mrs. Applewhite's son was eating or hiding out in Gabrielle's house, he surprised her & she fell down the stairs at the end of the show. I think he's developmentally disabled & hurt...

So I tried my first live kickbox class over the w/e

Oh yeah, I've heard of that. Ours was shorin do kenpo ju jitsu, it was pretty serious stuff (actually where I met my ex husband too). I was the only woman in the class & you had to interview to get into it, I remember sensei pointing to spots on the wall & saying "see this? This is...

So I tried my first live kickbox class over the w/e

Shelley, I took ju jitsu for 3 years in my 20s & you're right--the real thing is SO much more intense--not to mention fun! I remember the heavy bag work was a killer--2 minutes of hitting the heavy bag was like 2 hours of high intensity step LOL. Anyway, all the boxing totally screwed up my...

So I tried my first live kickbox class over the w/e

It was very high intensity but totally uncreative. She only used 3 basic kickbox moves--jab, cross & front kick. Mixed in with a lot of lunges, squats & jacks. Twice during the workout she did these jumping front kick drills where we just did the kicks for supposedly a minute, but it seemed...

NEW Step from Reebok - What do you think?

I don't know, it doesn't look like its major components have changed much--I had the Reebok step & I hated it. The plastic is harder than the club step, plus it doesn't have grips on the bottom so it would slide all over my hardwood floors.
