    Our Yosemite Trip

Robin, We did do all our hiking in the park. We were hoping to do some outside of the valley like up on Tioga Pass, but there was still 3-4 feet of snow up there. It was crazy - one day we were driving thru 110 degree heat, and the next day we're having a snowball fight:eek: PM about the...

    acupuncture or chiropractor

I'd like to know if many have had positive responses with lower back issues and acupuncture as well. This disc and sciatica is driving me bonkers. We have ONE acupuncturist in town and I'm tempted to give it a try. Good luck with your training - hope the lower back issues don't slow down...

How does one stop being a worrier?

Thanks - I do have 3 dogs and they do help to a certain degree when I'm home, and I am on Welbutrin as an anti-depressant. I think I'll check out Amazon for some self-help books. Can't hurt, I guess. Thanks, Heidi

How does one stop being a worrier?

Yes, but mine is worrying becoming anxiety - I have migraines, back problems, esophageal ulcers and am worried about further physical manifestations of constant worry. I am the problem solver too. I'm a phenomenal multi-tasker,and I do get almost a sick sense of self gratification out of...

How does one stop being a worrier?

I am a worrier and a pretty high stress /type A individual. I have been since I was a child. I know some of it stems from my childhood and my parents' divorce and being separated from my mother at such a young age. But, I worry about everything. I wish I could be more of a laid back...

    Our Yosemite Trip

Elaine - Alaska is on our next must-do trip! Either that or Glacier NP and Yellowstone. I'm not dissing Disney, but I know so many people that go to Disney yearly with their kids. I'd take a national park ANY day. Disney doesn't interest me in the least. Now, to try and get over this...

    Our Yosemite Trip

Thanks everyone. It sure was hard to go back to work today and act like I has happy to be there:confused: Especially since it's muggy and 86 and out there it was so nice and dry..no bugs...no clouds.. Janie - we hiked as a family mostly. However, we did do an interpretive hike one day with...

    Our Yosemite Trip

Hello all, Well, we did it! We had such a splendid time in CA and Yosemite. My leg held up very well - used hiking poles, sometimes two!, which helpd tremendously. I hiked up to 5-7 miles per day, and really didn't have much pain, just some numbness and weakness, but that didn't stop me...

    I'm heading out west today!!

Well, today is the day. The dogs are at the kennel, the house is cleaned, the bags are packed...and this old gal with the back problem is heading out west today with the fam! It's been a long haul with the back, but it's actually becoming less painful and more tolerable. We are so excited...

    night time splint for pf

I got mine from my podiatrist - total rip off! When I got the bill from the insurance compancy, I saw it cost $250! I only wore it a few nights - it hurt and I ended up kicking it off in my sleep, so I found it pretty useless. I know you can find them online. There are other things you can...

Fingers crossed my cortisone inj works!

Thanks for your collective thoughts and good wishes. I'm really hoping that it will kick in within the next couple of days. Somehow,we'll make it work. I can handle some weakness on that leg, just not the radiating sciatic pain that makes it unbearable. I'll be sure to hike with TWO hiking...

Fingers crossed my cortisone inj works!

Well, with our Yosemite trip looming in one week, I bucked up and had the cortisone epidural today. It went well - painful but fast and now I'm home taking in some dog snuggle therapy :) Fingers crossed that it helps and I can enjoy my vacay...trying to remain positive here - send me some...

Money during travel - traveler's checks?

As long as my back is in half decent shape, our family is heading to Las Vegas and Yosemite from June 2- June 13th. We really don't want to carry a large amount of cash. What is the best form of currency to carry? I really want to stay away from credit cards...are traveler's checks still...

    Garmin Forerunner--opinions wanted.

Another vote for the 305 here. DH uses it ALL the time, and really loves it. It's reliable and easy to use. We did a lot of research and did hear abundant bad reviews of the 405. I say go for it! Heidi

    Grey's??

I knew it was going to be an intense and longer episode, so I DVR'd it which was nice since I could watch it when I wanted, BUT I will say that not having the commercials as "down time" to register everything made it super intense! I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep if I'd have watched it that...
