The Looks a Cat Can Give You!

Cat lovers will appreciate this. :D Just came back from the grocery store and cranked on some tunes to listen to while putting the food away. I was shimmying and groovin' across the kitchen with my carton of Newman's Own lemonade when I happened to glance over at the cats; both of them were...

    Limecat's Question of the Day

Assuming that family/friends/SOs/spouses are a given: - books - my MacBook - my Sigg water bottle. Damn thing goes everywhere with me. I tote it around like a toddler. :D

    what's YOUR personal motto???

I have a few I like. I'm not always successful at living up to them but I try. :) "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty, well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, ‘Wow'...

    Don't you love book threads?

I'm trying to learn how to sew! Attempts usually end with me swearing and shrieking at the machine and then collapsing over it in a heap of tears. DH then quietly leads me away while suggesting other hobbies.

Hee hee! LOVE GWTW, one of my favorite books. Scarlett had some BAWLZ. Or did she have a weiner? No no, I think BAWLZ works better. :D She did not however, have Funyuns.

    Don't you love book threads?

I just finished Andre Agassi's autobiography which I thought was excellent. I never read sports bios but really enjoyed this one. Other than that, my nephew has me reading the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series :D and I'm waiting for Michael Pollan's new book to arrive at the library.

I gave up drinking mostly and am now such a light weight that last weekend after two glasses of wine I was practically at the bar with my arms around the old men singing "When This Cruel War is Over."

    COME BACK JONEZIE

My experience is the same as yours. I remember one of my first posts years ago was about my amazing nephew being bitten by my in-laws dog when I was babysitting them both. Shelley, Michele (Miss Lee), Robin, all the "old-timers" were so sweet and supportive and made me feel OK about it even...

    diet struggle vent

Kari, sorry you are struggling with this. Have you tried the opposite approach of not restricting your diet AT ALL, and taking it out of the forefront of your thoughts? I'm not talking about binging here but just one or two weeks of taking the pressure off yourself;iif you feel like having...

Does anyone have any recommendations for gentle yoga DVD's for back pain? Not for me, but for a friend who has lower back pain. Beginner stuff, she is not an exerciser. Thanks!

    Dietary Staples

Put enough butter and peanut butter on it and you don't notice the cardboard aspect. At that point it's merely a conduit for the buttery goodness. :D

    Dietary Staples

DH and I eat a lot of the same foods. We don't mind the repetition and it keeps things simple. My staples include: - walnuts or almonds - Ezekiel bread (toasted) steel cut oats or Cream of Wheat - peanut butter - dark chocolate - butter - cheese - eggs - navy beans, black beans...

    Who to BLAME for obesity?

One of the points he makes is that humans are hard-wired to desire salt, sugar and fat. So many food companies will provide a combination of all three in their products, simply because it's almost impossible for humans to resist or break the addiction to these, chemically speaking.

    Who to BLAME for obesity?

I think part of the problem in the US is that we want to compartmentalize (spelling?) the issue. We give people sound-bite health advice instead of encouraging them to live a healthy LIFE, not just how to prepare a low-cal meal. To me this means not only teaching people about calories...
