Favorite Cathe Live's

So, I received an e-mail regarding the Labor Day Sale, and it said 50% off of Cathe downloads when you spend $50. I don't do streaming, and I've never purchased a download. Out of curiosity... I decided to look at what was available (you know, to avoid doing the housework that was waiting for me lol). Wow! Cathe has a LOT of live workouts to choose from. It was quite overwhelming, so I buckled down and did my housework. lol I really have no business spending money that I don't have when I already have a huge Cathe DVD collection that was neglected for 2 years (just got back into exercise about 3 1/2 months ago). So, I'm not going to ask about workouts that would meet my current needs and interests. I thought, though, that it would be good to start a thread where Catheletes that do the Live workouts could post and discuss their favorites. The last post I could find on this topic was 2019 (yes, I wasted a LOT of time trying to avoid cleaning the house lol). She's released a lot since then. If anybody would like to comment on their favorites, I think it would help others that are interested in the sale. I'm going to try to resist the urge to purchase anything this time around, but I may write some down for next time around, once I feel fit enough to tackle more than I currently can.

Hi @Braille
I don't subscribe to Cathe Live, but we do purchase downloads when they're on sale. I create a list of potential candidates by watching the clips each week and reading Cathelete's reviews. We select from that on-going list based on our current interests & needs. For instance, Cathe has 3 PHA dvds. We bought some LIVE No Repeat PHAs so we can do a different one each week for a month+ rotation. Same with Bootcamps. I like low impact cardio, so those go on the list. We also like UB/LB splits so when Cathe makes complimentary ones, those go on the list. I bought the used FitTower last summer so we bought some of those LIVES to get more use of it. I also bought ones that featured the Boss Bands & Loops to get more use of those.

That's how we approach the LIVE downloads. There are sooo many to choose from, it can be overwhelming to decide how to approach it. An option we've considered is subscribing for a month or so & trying out the ones we're interested in & then purchasing when the sales are on.

Since some smart users are excelling in deletion of their "mind"/posts, a quote is prooving to be a must! well for transparency purpose.

@Braille Thanks you for posting this thread:)

To reply to your post, I am interested in live/on demand catheletes reviews on their favorites. I am specifically interested in cycling live classes. I love challenging my legs again HEAVY flywheel. The one I am currently using is a 18kg/40 pounds.
Can anyone who has listed all cycling describing drills details share his/her list?. I am after jumps, hill climbs, surging against challenging resistence and partials alternating between seating, standing and third positions.

I actually asked in the past but have not had any reply.

Hoping to read some answers here.

Kind Regards,

Hey @Braille , maybe it would be easier if you mentioned the kinds you were hoping to find or ones that were like the Cathe DVDs you prefer?
Do you still have a link to the 2019 thread? Maybe it will help others jog their memory.
(It IS an awfully overwhelming list though, isn't it?)
I think that may be more helpful. I've asked Cathe-Live-letes about their favorites a few times in the past too. You can get all kinds of responses as there're over 500 workouts and everyone is looking at it from their own viewpoint. I found it more helpful to think about what I wanted to supplement my current collection, then do a search on the CL download page, review the clips, review the comments on the forum (and FB if you're on). Then ask for feedback on a few specific LIVES I'm looking at. If the ask is too broad or big, the response may be little to none. And really, what is one person's favorite still may not be your cup of tea - we're all different.

I couldn't list any specific "favorite" but I am a fan of PHA workouts and I like all of those Lives (and there are quite a few offered). I particularly like the PHAT one, partially because of the name :)D) but also because of the format. That is just me, and as @Debinmi commented, we are all different. Please give us an idea of the kind of workouts you enjoy or that you want to fill out your collection--metabolic, total body weights, splits, step, cardio, etc. It would help to narrow it down.

I didn't keep track of the link, because it wasn't really a list, but more of a discussion of favorites in answer to someone wanting to narrow down the cardio category. I did write down the Warrior workout (it was mentioned several times), because I want to get back into kickboxing once I feel ready.

I'm focusing on getting my strength back right now, and I am still doing mostly premixes (especially for lower body - I am now starting to be able to do entire upper body workouts with adjustments). So, I'm kind of thinking of the future... when I get where having a higher heartrate doesn't spook me. I used to love kickboxing, and I never felt like I had enough. So, I'd be interested in kickboxing (low impact or modifiable). I wouldn't mind workouts that use the balance discs - I only have LMR for that. I REALLY liked the Cardio Party DVD, so something along those lines is something I'd like to add for the future. I can dance and play pickleball and it doesn't bother me, but if I do anything more than Basic Step, I panic when my heart rate goes up, so fun steady state is what I'll be focusing on when I'm ready.

That sounds like a good strategy. You found a Fit Tower? It took me years to find one, but it was worth it. I didn't see Live workouts (didn't think to look for them) with the Boss Bands & Loops. I'm going to go back and look and write those down. I didn't realize Cathe had made more. I really like getting "toys" out most of the time, and there's something soooo satisfying about weights, but there are those days that I just don't feel like it, and my Travel Bands and my Boss Bands & Loops is what I grab. I could definitely use a bit more variety in that area. Thank you!

I don't have a spin cycle, so I was surprised when you mentioned "jumps". It sounds like Cathe makes spin workouts fun and interesting too. Hope someone that knows more about Live workouts has some favorite spin workouts they share with you.

I feel silly. lol I'd clicked on categories and read through workout titles, but I didn't realize there were video clips. lol After I read your comment, I went back to see what you were talking about. I just looked and figured out how to click and play them. That's going to help me a lot. Ugggh! Sometimes I feel fairly intelligent, and other times... I feel like my brain fell out. The day I looked at those workouts and didn't realize I could see video clips... that must have been one of my broken brain days. lol

Right now, I'm focusing on strength (and trying to keep my heartrate as low as possible while doing it, because I'm having anxiety when my heartrate goes up). I think I have plenty of strength workouts, but I am kind of interested in having more fabric band workouts, now that Debinmi mentioned some are available. I wouldn't mind one or two balance disc workouts either. I am hoping to get to a point where I can add steady state cardo (probably shorter workouts), so favorites in that category are something I'd like to purchase in the future, and eventually... if all goes well, I'd like to get back into kickboxing/martial arts type workouts, because I used to really enjoy those, and I don't have very many. I kind of like toys... so, if Cathe has any Live workouts that use something different from the norm, I'd be interested (ex. I LOVE medicine ball abs and stacker abs).

I hadn't even heard of PHAT workouts. I just looked it up, sounds interesting. Can't wait until I'm strong enough to try one. It sounds like a neat way to format a workout.

I had been eye-ing up a similiar FitTower on Amazon when Cathe announced she was selling off the ones she kept in stock for the LIVEs last summer. So I jumped on it. I had badly injured my knee last year & was doing barre & Pilates for LB while recovering. I wasn't a big fan of those types of workouts, but you do what you can while injured. I'm glad to have it. We bought a bunch of LIVEs that use the FitTower in the Columbus Day sale.

There's a band LIVE called something like Fantastic Elastic you might check out. Happy looking ... $5 for a Cathe workout is a good deal even though they aren't chaptered.

This may be something you already have done, but here is how I sorted through the CL downloads when I bought them (prior to subscribing). I went to the shop page that lists Downloads and entered my search term for the type of workout I wanted--i.e. barre--and it would list all the downloads with the term in the title. I could read each of the descriptions and decide if they were on a "short list" for purchase or not. It's not a perfect system since it obviously includes the regular series that were released as downloads, but it did work when I was determined to buy every.single.step CL download that was made! :D Good luck trying to narrow down your list!

@Braille
Did you purchase anything this round? If you need more time to compile a list, there's usually a Black Friday sale & last year there was a Columbus Day Sale too. I spent my money this round on Road Trip Gear, so I'm keeping my list updated for later.
