Getting it done for January 2015

Thanks to everyone for the welcome. A little about me, I'm 45, been working out for 30 years nearly everyday since. I've always been a home exerciser and struggled to find workouts that I found hard enough and where the instructor had good form and good workout integrity. About 4 years ago I just got lucky and found Intensity. Loved it and haven't used another instructor since. I just decided to order "You are your own gym" and give that a try, maybe in the evenings for a double. Two years ago I got vertigo and couldn't work out for almost a month. I gained 4 pounds and haven't been able to get it off. I'm thinking I may need to do what Belinda is doing and double up, at least some days to try a new approach. I eat pretty clean, but the older I get I notice it has become nearly impossible to lose weight. I only started lifting weights about a year ago (thanks to Cathe's encouragement) and I love it. I have definitely gotten a little bulkier, especially around the shoulders, but I love being strong and seeing some definition. I have only recently started lurking around the forum, and am finding it inspiring and interesting. Thanks Ladies!

Good morning,

Plan today is : SBF Killer abs 15 min and active stretch 2 = 20 min.
I also want to do some cardio? Not sure what yet?

Heidi - like your plan for next week. Congrats on sicking with your RWH and XTRAIN rotation. :)

Sara - I am 51, was born and raised in Germany. My husband retired from the military after 31 years. We lived in Germany most of my life, after DH retired we moved to WV. I had vertigo a few years ago, I know what you mean. I used to run, had a bad case of PF/heal spur. I couldn't run or do high impact for almost 1.5 years. Every time I do high impact my PF flairs up. I had to find low impact options. I did Turbo Fire/Turbo Jam, they have a modifier. I also did a lot of walking and Jessica Smith youtube channel. I'll be honest, once I switched instructors my weight started to come down. I did 5 rounds of STS and still didn't lose much weight. I doubled my workouts around the holiday's so I wouldn't gain weight and it seem to work for me. I do walk a lot for cardio and my dogs get outside. Four pounds isn't a lot of weight, it may be water weight? I gained a lot of weight due to my PF/heal spur. I am trying to get that weight down again. I want to get it down the healthy way. Good luck and welcome to our group.

Waving Hi to everyone that checks in after me. I will do my workout later today, DH is home today. We are going out for lunch and do some shopping. BBL!

Good Morning to you all!

Finally a better nights rest with a little help from a sleep aid my Doc prescribed. I hate taking meds but this has been terrible lately with lack of sleep.

Today's workout is complete! RWH Circuit Legs. A little out of breath getting started but once into it I was fine.

Sara: So glad that you have found Cathe! I love all her workouts too. Now that I am a little older (51) I am careful with the over the top jumping moves. Windmills are just not going to happen. ;)
As for starting with weights: You may notice a little more bulking or puffiness to your muscles. This is more due to water I think. As you get accustomed to weight training this will go away and you will get more defined and cut . This is what I have noticed at least. Just make sure you are drinking enough water too. :)

Belinda: Enjoy your lunch and shopping with your DH! :) Have a great workout when you get to it.

Sherry: Did you get up on time this morning? :) What do you do in the morning to get prepped for your run? Meaning being awake enough? LOL! It takes me about an hour before I feel like am awake enough to workout.

Well my plan for double workouts isn't happening lately. I at least get in the morning one. I am just too tired by the time I get home to do anything. I blame that on the lack of sleep I have been getting lately. Hope to have this change soon!

I guess its that time to get moving towards work. Have an awesome FRIDAY! Make it a good one!
Heidi

Good evening,

I also did RWH Plyo 1 and RWH abs #1. I am done for tonight. Plyo was a lot of high impact (lots of jumping). My right foot was cramping up. It was fun workout, too bad my foot doesn't like it.The music in that one was not bad. I actually liked it.

Heidi - which one has the Windmills? Glad you got some sleep doesn't matter if it comes in a pill, lol! I had lots of sleepless nights. WTG, on your workout today. I am still trying to figure out how to incorporate all the RWH workouts into the XT rotation ? I will figure it out by next week, lol.

Sherry - have a great workout today.

Good night, ladies.

Hi all!

WO's done - sprints, then LBC. Enjoying the mix of cardio and weights in these. And the shorter times, which lets me get in both.

So I did get up this morning, but just couldn't get going to run. I'm really struggling in these early hours. I get up at 5, but need to be hitting the shower by 6 in order to get to work on time. And I need to leave adequate time for a good stretch or it bites me later. So, I think the plan for next week will be to do my Runner's Daily dozen exercises (that takes about 30 minutes) and 15-20 minutes of lo-med incline walking on the tm. Then, I'll run and do RWH in the evening. I've got 2 week left in RWH one month rotation, so let's see how that goes.

Belinda - Great wo's today. I bet you are done for the night. Hope you had fun on your shopping trip - go anywhere exciting?

Heidi - Same wo today, and it did get me sweating. I agree on not taking meds, but if they help you . . .

Sara - Welcome. I'm 48, married, mom of 2 - DS is a college freshman and DD is a high school junior, and work full time. I workout at home 'cause it's just a lot easier schedule wise. However, I'm inconsistent and really need to focus more on me. I'm trying to switch to morning to address the consistency, but as I said already, struggling. Need to get to bed earlier at night, which is hard when running around with kids in the evening.

DH is done with dinner, and I'm hungry. At least tomorrow is Saturday. Catch ya in the morning.

Good morning,

After my coffee I will do XT SuperCuts and SBF Intm. Seat work and Adv. Quick Hiit.

Sherry - it's tough getting up early and getting your workout in. I am sure being so dark outside isn't helping.

Heidi - what are your plans this weekend?

I will be back after I am done with all my workouts. Have a great weekend.

Happy Saturday!

WO's done - RWH Plyo2 and BA1. Really liked this plyo wo - really gets my hr up. Then came upstairs to pancakes - not exactly clean but very good. Getting bundled up to take the dog for a walk next - need to get out there before it gets in the 30's and everything becomes a slushy mess. Then we're picking up DS for the long weekend.

Belinda - Love your wo plan for today. Early mornings are rough - we turn the house down at night, and if I kick it up early it disrupts everyone else's sleep. Plus I wo in the basement which is cold in this weather, and worse 'til the heat kicks on. And of course, the dark doesn't help. But I'm still trying. Going to bed earlier in another one. But I'll get there.

Waving Hi to Heidi and Sara!

Have a good one.

Good afternoon,

I am done with SBF Interm. Seat workout and HiiT. I also did XT Super Cuts.

Sherry - good job this morning. That one got my HR up too.

Hallo Heidi and Sara.

Have a wonderful day and workout.

Morning! Happy Sunday to you all. :)

Yesterday was just house cleaning. :/

Heading out this morning with my Mom for new sneakers. :) Not sure if or when I will workout today.

Belinda: Nice job on your plyo and abs the other night.
As for the windmills: These are in other Cathe workouts that I end up modifying. ;)
The RWH cardio does have quite a few high impact parts. So do be careful and modify for sure! Don't need to get injured at this point.

Wow! Awesome job on your workouts yesterday as well! :) You Rock!

Sherry: Nice job on plyo and abs yesterday! :) Those workouts do get your heart rate up too. I end up stopping to catch my breath here and there. ;) I really do like this new series.

Glad it seems to be getting a little warmer to be able to get out. We should be in the 30's this coming week. Nice break from the single and low 20's for sure!

Hey Sara! How's it going? :)

Well it is 7:40 now so I better get moving! Have a great Sunday!
BBL
Heidi

This weeks plan:
Get my meals cooked ahead!
Workout at least 5 days! ;)
DRINK MORE WATER

Happy Sunday!

WO done - sprints again. Doing them to really work my heart so I can handle the distance running better. Will do UBC later but not sure when - we're still working on logistics for the day. I did some laundry earlier, but now it's DS's for the rest fo the day

Belinda - Wow! That was some wo's yesterday! What are your plans for today?

Heidi - Enjoy shopping with your mom. And enjoy the rest day. Great plan for the week.

Waving Hi to Sara!

This week's plan - mornings for incline walking and runner's exercises, evenings for runs and RWH. I, too, am really like the new wo's. Also, stick with portion control and # servings for food groups. I will follow 21DF.

Off to take advantage of the day. Make it a good one.

Hi! Back from shopping with my Mom. We had a great time and got a sandwich at Panera Bread.

Workout: I did it this morning before heading out. RWH Circuit Upper. WOW! That really spikes my heart rate. I still can't go
as heavy as Cathe for all that shoulder work. Using 8's mostly.

Came home to make banana muffins from a Forks over Knives recipe. YUM! No flour or egg in this recipe. I noticed that I do much better
without using any white flour in my foods.

GOT MY NEW SNEAKERS! Yeah! Haven't bought running sneaks in years! Got a new brand I haven't tried out yet. They are very squishy and
I think these are going to be my new favorite brand.
Brooks Glycerin 12. Quite the flashy colors too!

My Mom bought some new walking shoes too. :) Fun day!

Sherry: Great job on your running in the morning! I like your plan as well.
Have fun with your upper workout later!

Belinda: How was your day today?

Hello to Sara!

Off to finish cooking.
BBT
Have a great evening!
Heidi

Good evening,

Went for a nice long walk with the dogs this afternoon and I just finished doing 30 min yoga.

Heidi - Cathe did windmills on Saturday. Thanks for clearing it up for me, lol. I have no desire to injure myself, I been doing so great. Want to keep it that way, lol. Glad you had fun shopping with your mom and eating at Panera Bread. My son's loves their sandwiches. Glad you found new sneakers. Yeah! Never heard of Brooks Glycerin 12? Need to look them up. I am always in the market for new shoes.

Sherry - wtg, on your double workout today. Have fun with your UB later today. I took it kinda easy today. Sometimes you need a break.

Sara - what did you do today?

Good night, ladies.

Back to report UBC done. Loving the double wo's, but do need to get the eating under control. Did I mention that working out hard makes me ravenous? Adding more vegetables to help fill me up, but may still need more.

Heidi - I switched over to Brooks with my last pair of running shoes. I had been a die hard Asics runner, but want'ed something a bit more neutral, and liked how the Brooks Cadence fit my feet. So far, liking them. Need to get them outside a bit more.

Belinda - I love Panera - however, with all those tempting carbs, I think I gain weight just by walking in the door. Lol!

Sara - Waving Hi!

Dinner time. Catch ya tomorrow.

Was gone to CA this weekend - visiting my Gma who is very ill. Got in a 4 1/2 mile walk yesterday and a bootcamp type workout at my Aunt's gym this morning. I love the instructor - very "Cathe-ish". I'll continue on week two of the January rotation tomorrow. I got some You Are Your Own Gym CDs that I am going to try to fit in as doubles, hopefully 3 times a week. We'll see if I can make it happen.

Sherry, I LOVE the Brooks Cadence running shoes. They are my all time favorite. I wish Brooks would make some for Cathe type workouts, the Cadence just doesn't satisfy the lateral support.

Good morning,

Today I am starting week 8 of the XTrain rotation.
I will do Burn Sets Bic's & Triceps. I also will do some core work? I am getting a little tired of doing the same core workout in XT.

Sherry - I need to check out those sneakers? Once I checked out all those cal in Panera, that sandwich didn't look that good anymore. I make my own sandwiches, a lot healthier :)

Heidi - what are your plans today? Whatever it is have a great one.

Sare - hope you grandma feels better soon (((HUGS))) Good job getting your workouts in too.

Waving Hi to everyone that checks in after me. BBL!

Since I missed LIHI Back workout today I'm going to do it and add on a low impact RWH workout to get back on my RWH rotation.

Belinda, I love Xtrain and think I have just now gotten all of the workouts. I would love to get a look at that rotation. I was still a rookie to Cathe's website when those came out and didn't understand what an awesome deal it is to preorder so I don't have the user guide. I wonder if you could just change up the abs and use some others for variety's sake. :)

Wishing everyone a good week!

Hi girls,

XT Burn Sets : Biceps & Triceps are done. I also did SBF LB Barre3. I was suppose to do the abs in XT too, but getting a little bored doing the same ab week after week. DH and I Prevention Fit AB Advantage: Core Training = 12 min + Classic Abs = 12 min. DH thought Core training was to easy for his abs so we added another core workout. That one was super hard:D

Sara - I always switch dvd's / workouts up. I get bored easily. If you do a search her on the Cathe forum you probably find the XT rotation. IF you have the dvd's and not the book, add the XT rotation in the workout manager:p You can delete afterwards. Easiest way to look up rotations. Have fun with your workouts today.

I am done for today. Have a wonderful day and workout, everyone.

AWESOME JOB LADIES ON YOUR WORKOUTS! :)

Sara: Wishing your Grandmom healthy vibes! Sorry to hear she is not feeling well.
Great job on sneaking in your workout!

Belinda: As for Panera Bread: too expensive for my tastes and those sandwiches my and I had were tiny. LOL! I had a gift card so trying to
use it up because I hate waste.
Great job on the ab workouts! LOL on your DH not thinking it was hard enough. I bet he is feeling it now!

You and I are the same on getting bored. ;) This makes it really hard for me to stick to a rotation. But as for abs: you can always do a different one. Any of hers are great!

Sherry: Great job on the upper workout.
I use Asics as well but they are too stiff and heavy now for me. Maybe because they are old..LOL! Really needed a shoe for neutral running and more cushioning. Haven't ran yet in the new Brooks sneakers...Going to shortly. :)
Waiting for my Son to call for a pick up. He is at Drivers Ed this evening. Can't wait to get this over with and he has his license finally!

Great job filling up on veggies or fruit rather than junk! Yes, all that mixing up of workouts or double workouts per day can make you hungry for sure! Have you tried splitting up your meals to 6? If you wait too long after training this could make things harder to resist bad quick grab foods.
Believe me! I know and have done it! LOL!

Well...off to more waiting. Maybe I should just run...while I am waiting. I am just not sure how long he will be. :/

Have a great evening!

Good morning,

Last night DH and I went for a nice long walk.

Today is XT Legs and SBF. Aleisa and boyfriend visit us yesterday. She helped me to go through my closet. I have a hard time letting go of cloth. Not sure why? I had cloth they haven't fit me in over 2 years, why do I hold on to those things? LOL! I also had a lot of business dresses, I know I never gonna wear again. I want to simplify my life.

Did you see the RT announcement? Who is in?

Heidi - I agree, Panera Bread is too expensive and very high in calories. I know, I can do any of Cathe's ab workouts, but I bought and still have so many shrink-wrapped, unused dvd's I have to go through. I figured I have to start somewhere. I like doing planks for ab workouts, not so much traditional crunches. Did you get your run in yesterday?

Hi Sherry and Sara.

Have a great Tuesday, everyone.

Good morning!

Incline walk already done this morning. :) Starting week 3 fo RWH this evening - legs on schedule. Yesterday was a rest day and a day off for all of us, so was spent with appointments and errands. Took DS back to school last night.

Gotta shower and get ready for work, so will catch up on personals later.

Have a good one!
