Pathways to the brain

Does anyone know what Cathe means when she says that the 100 rep challenges help with the neural pathways from the brain to the muscle? Totally confused by that one

I think it brain body connection, if u train a muscle sometimes i dont feel it to well till i have done it a few times. Like i cut my thumb real bad i had to have microscopic surgery on nerve fibers tendons i was told id probly never be able to move my thumb again. But i kept thinking of moving it n squeezing the tennis ball it did take along time but, by me trying to concentrate on moving it attempting to move it . Mind body conepction over and over (mind body connection), .well it then twitched, then more! Now my thumb is numb 20 yrs later still but i can move it every which way. Im not sure but i think this is at least close to the idea.

It may have to do with recent research along the lines of, "when you really focus on the muscle group you are working, rather than tuning out or going through the motions, you can record bigger improvements in the strength gained in that muscle. The mental focus contributes to strength gains."

It may also, secondarily, help to develop muscle memory when you come back to these exercises after a break.

It makes sense: you do 100 reps of just one exercise, in very focussed fashion, you are solidifying connections between the brain and the muscle way more than can be achieved with "10 reps-throw my weights down-and off I skip to the shower"!

THese are my humble offerings on the subject.

Hi Atompki,

It means 100 helps getting your brain connected to your muscles. Better connection means you feel your muscles contract while you are working it out.
