Hungrier after strength training

Does anyone else notice that they are hungrier after strength training than a cardio workout?

This morning I did Muscle Endurance from 5:30 - 6:30. Had a protein shake with yoghurt right after. Then at 7:30 had an eggwhite omelette. Then at 9:30 had oatmeal. At 10:30 had 2 tsp. of peanut butter on 2 pieces of melba toast. Now its 11:40 and I'm eating my lunch (salad with a cup of wheat berries). I just feel that I've been eating all morning!!

Hopefully this afternoon this will slow down!

Since I do cardio first thing in the morning, and weights after work, I have to say I don't have the same experience. By the time weight work comes around, I've been eating all day. Dinner usually is some sort of meat, a veggie and a salad, so that tops me off for the day.
 
I do notice a general increase in hunger when I lift heavier, I kind of picture it like my muscles want more calories to grow. I also find I am just hungrier in general, not necessarily right after or during a workout.

I lift heavy all the time and am hungry all day long. I eat every few hours. My dh can't believe how much I can eat. :eek:

That's so funny! My hubby too will sometimes make a comment jokingly, but then I remind him very lovingly that I could probably beat him up with all the strength training I'm doing.

At least I'm eating healthy foods all day and not junk. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who feels this way after strength training!
 
Is this an everyday thing or just today? Sometimes if your hormones are acting crazy you can get those hunger increases. If it's an everyday thing, you might start your day with more healthy fats to satisfy your hunger cravings early.
