Morning Maniacs -

This morning I did Kettlebell Way Empire State. Workout was 65" with Joint Mobility WU and stretch from KB Goddess. I burned 450 calories. Max HR was only 130. I only used my 10-20 lb KB's due to my flare up of pain. I didn't really enjoy this. I kickboxed during the breaks....but it still didn't seem like a great workout. I don't like that Anthony lets Beth instruct in this workout. I don't really care for her for some reason.

Theresa - I can't take Glucosamine cuz it gave me stomach problems. I recently bought something from GNC called Be Flexible from their Be Well line that is supposed to be similar for peeps that can't take Glucosamine. I am just so severe with my problems that hardly anything helps, but it is just a chronic thing I have to live with......which gets old sometimes.

Deb - I always have this spasm down the entire right side of my body....it is just worse now. I have been taking it a bit easy with my workouts and going light with weights. I only used 5 & 6 pounders yesteray and today I only used my 10-20 pound Kettlebells. I am planning on doing yoga one day this week for a rest day and I will have a few forced rest days in the next few weeks prior to Christmas, but yes, I do need to LEARN how to take a rest day somehow.

Ugh.........don't feel like going to work today...........it's like freakin' high school. Too much drama. We're having a meeting this AM re: all the fights breaking out on the sales floor regarding "stealing" sales. I can't stand it! We have been dead still. I wonder if anyone will ever start shopping?

Have great workouts everyone.

Lora-I hope that helps. What makes you not like the workout? I was considering getting that DVD.

Debbie-I just saw the other post, I hope your back gets better soon.

Yesterday was cardio and I did cardio blast premix from LIC and then I added 2 sections from HSC to get to 40. Calorie burn was 576. Not a bad step workout for the days I don't feel like going balls to the wall :D

I follow up with Olesya today :D

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick post as I have to get busy as my carpets are getting cleaned in a little while.

I just can't believe all the pain and injury in this check in right now. Seems like we all go through these time where we are all hurting somewhere.

Last night I order the Pranamaya Shoulder Shape Up DVD. Sure hope it helps.

Did Shoulders & Arms this morning and had a good workout. Kept most the weights the same for shoulders and upped the others by 1 or 2#. I'll post my stats later.

DianeSue
- How's your neck? Better I hope. Oh and next week is recovery week.:D

Lora
- I don't know where to start. Hope everything starts feeling better.

Debbie
- Sorry about your back and having to put P90X on pause. I know you must be frustrated.

Theresa
- Ouch about the shoulder. I'll keep you posted on the DVD and if it helps. It got great raves in the OD.

DianeSue & Lora
- I was thinking the same thing about Racheal when I got the book. While I understand not wanting to maintain superlean I would have liked to see her a bit more buff than she is. Those really aren't arms that I want.

From now on I'm just gonna let someone else post first. LOL!

Day number 2 of rest. Slept good but the center of my low back still hurts when I try to straighten up. I sure hope this gets better soon. I'm really upset that my rotation is getting screwed up. I really want to do Shoulder and Arms tomorrow and I might just try it and see how it goes. We'll see. If I feel like I do right now I won't be doing it.

Got my magnetic belt on, sometimes that helps.

Theresa - I'm sorry to hear about your shoulder. My pain is almost the same, but I have discomfort with chest presses, lateral raises and certain movements where you point your elbow upwards. Like if I'm putting on deodorant and I lift my shirt up with my right arm, my shoulder hurts like hell. Also when I take my tops off, my right shoulder hurts bad doing that. It doesn't seem as bad lately, though, so I'm glad. Any results yet from your new program? Oh, and Dallys was someone who posted here on this checkin. I wish she'd come back. :(

Lora - I know you have been taking it light and easy with your workouts lately and I'm also glad you have some forced rest days on your schedule. Sometimes, though, light weight days are still bad. I wish I could just make you take an ENTIRE week, if not two weeks off. Just veg out, and let yourself heal. I know that is unheard of for you, but you should seriously think about it. {{{hugs}}}

Linda - I'm hoping to do Shoulders and Arms tomorrow, Plyo X on Friday, Legs and Back on Saturday and possibly Kenpo X on Sunday. That leaves me with only missing Yoga X. I'm crossing my fingers that I can do this. I hate sitting on the sidelines.

I just had to post this. Too funny not to:

DAD AT THE MALL!

I took my dad to the mall the other day to buy some new shoes (he is 92). We decided to grab a bite at the food court.

I noticed he was watching a teenager sitting next to him. The teenager had spiked hair in all different colors: green, red, orange, and blue. My dad kept staring at him. The teenager would look and find him staring every time. When the teenager had had enough, he sarcastically asked,"What's the matter, old man? Never done anything wild in your life?"

Knowing my Dad, I quickly swallowed my food so that I would not choke on his response, knowing he would have a good one, and in classic style he did not bat an eye in his response: "Got drunk once and had sex with a peacock. I was just wondering if you were my son."

I started my workout with Tracey's Results Fitness Boost Your Metabolism 55 minutes and burned 338 calories, then I did 2 rounds of the metabolic workout group 4 in Rachels Book the Female Body Break through. This only took 13 minutes and I burned 114 calories. Each exercise 45 seconds
Body weight squats
Body weight jump squats
squat thrust
static squat in and out jump
kettlebell single arm clean alternating arms
kettlebell swings
box jump (jump on step off)
I then jumped on the treadmill for 25 minutes doing 7 8 mph sprints with a jog 5mph, then level 7 hill at 4mph, then back to a flat walk repeat and burned 200 calories
I finished with Tracey's Yoga Solutions post run segment 17 minutes I always forget that this one makes my arms tired. They start shaking because you stay in the down dog position so long.
Workout was 1 hr 48 minutes, 754 calories burned, 40% fat, 168 max hr, in zone for 24 minutes

Debbie, LOL that is too funny!!

Lora, I really like Empire State. I think that is probably my favorite. I really like the second dvd joint mobility too. I have to be careful with Glucosamine. I can't use the ones with msm in them. Makes me terribly sick. I found out it is because msm is something like sulfa and I am allergic to sulfa drugs.

Linda, my neck is good now. Every once in awhile it feels a little tight so I make sure to add a few more of the neck stretchs and exercises. That is good that you have the recovery week coming up soon. I hope that dvd helps your shoulder.

Debbie, I hope you can get your workouts finished this week. I went through a time that my shoulders hurt like that. Was really painful to pull off some of those snug sports bras. And reaching behind me for something in the car or to take care of the grandchildren was really painful. Finally am past that and hope I can keep from having that happen again. Today I dropped to 5# dumbbells on the shoulders in that metabolism workout. 8's were causing discomfort and I really didn't want to get the neck area started again.

Diane Sue - Nice workout! I am hoping that DVD helps too, as I have found that the numbness in my hands at night is actually coming from my shoulders. I also ordered Yoga Solutions the other night.

I just got this big box from Beachbody. I was so disappointed when I realized that I had purchased 3 of the add on Insanity's and two containers of P90X recovery drink. Here is the link. I just wanted the entire series. I feel kind of dumb after going back and looking at it:( Almost 7 # of recovery drink is going to last me a lifetime. I don't use my Aftershock recovery drink that often.

Linda - Let me know how you like that DVD. I have it but have not done it yet. Yes, I don't envy Rachel's arms.....and from what I remember, your's look better than hers!

Deb - Your father is a trip. How does he come up with them so quickly? That's funny! Re: the weights, etc., I'm sorry you are laid up. It sucks. I didn't think light weights were too bad......but since you say so, I'll do straight cardio tomorrow. I wish I could rest easier, but sometimes being inactive flares my pain even more. I need to get my blood pumping with some cardio at least (or even yoga) to help my pain.

Diane Sue - I really liked Empire State when I first got it....perhaps I was just in a mood this morning with the pain and weather and such. I don't care for Beth Chamberlain though. She's not "miss personality" in my book.

Theresa - I love that KB Way Empire STate has Hot Potatoes and Crush Curls for biceps! Maybe I just didn't like it today cuz I was in pain and I don't like Beth's personality or the fact that Anthony's busting his butt workout and letting her lead the workout. I got irritated! That's unusual for me, as I'm usually quite tolerant. It also had a lot of plank work, squat thrusts and those types of movements are really flaring my core/shoulder/neck/back injury from both my fall, disc problems and everything in between. I think I just had it with this workout this morning. I remember liking it in the past, so take what I said this AM with a grain of salt...........so to speak.

Later Maniacs.........off to watch GH and snooze. I have a long day tomorrow.

Oh, DianeSue , how disappointing! I hope you like how the recover drink tastes.

Linda, the thing that I hate is P90X recovery drink only has 10 gr protein where my aftershock has 30. Also about twice the sugars. Aftershock also has a stack, more creatine than P90X recovery, and has glucosamine and chonroitin. If I were to chose the P90X recovery drink would not be my choice. It does look like the workouts are pretty good though. Even the cardio seems to have some cardiovascular work in it.

Lora, I usually am paying attention to Anthony myself. Maybe it is just me but Beth doesn't look like she works that hard at it. I feel the same with the blonde soap star on Barry's Bootcamp with her 5# weights. Even dh commented on her physique lacking on Biggest Loser. I am not saying they are not in shape or anything. Just saying I find people with muscle definition that shows more motivating. I can diet and have no definition, you know what I mean. But I guess that is a healthy body type?? Does weights but not too low in bodyfat?? It is obvious looking at Linda's avatar that she has nice muscle definition in her arms:)
