Hardcore Fitness Maniac Hotties for 10/29

Today was cardio and I decided to do Step Blast. Wow did I have fun with this one! The workout went by in a flash and I had one of the best cardio workouts that I've had in a while. Actually, it was puke status - in a good way. The challenge at the end got my HR up to 170 bpm and I've only done that once before and that was with IMAX 3. And the weird thing is, it didn't really feel like I was up that high.

Love this workout! Especially when "Painted Black" comes on.

HR STATS:
58 minutes total
2 minutes below zone
8 minutes in zone
49 minutes above zone!!!!
514 calories burned!!!!

I guess we posted at the same time, I'll repost
GM LADIES-
Yesterday was supersets. workout was 35 min and I burned 478 calories. It said no intervals after the weight work and I was okay with that

SS#1 bulgarian split squat/elevated push up
SS#2 pull up/bear crawl
SS#3 kb swings/ burpees
Ab circuit: turkish getups, plank, side plank

My lats are sore today which never happens and my abs are tight.

Linda-18 years ?!!!That gives me quite a bit of hope. Let me ask you, were you depressed right after you quit smoking? Did you gain weight? The reason I ask is I have gained weight and my habits have not changed, and I have been depressed ever since I quit. I go to the doc next month and hope I get some blood work checked to make sure something else is not going on...how was your dessert?

Debbie-nice workout. I haven't done that one in awhile

We seem to have two threads going. Theresa and I both posted at the same time this morning.

Lora - I did see your post from last night.

Thanks everyone for the Kelly Coffey-Meyer reviews!

Hey everyone! I told you I'd try to pop in now and again. We have a snow day!!! Yay! We got to go home at noon yesterday. LOTS of wind so hazardous roads and lots of drifts. So I came home yesterday and got a fantastic leg workout in. Now I'm getting ready to work my back, shoulders (b/c I missed them earlier in the week) and abs. Then I'll do cardio. I would actually LOVE to do Imax 2. I started to do it Monday morning but those KILLER cramps I get the day before I start stopped me dead in my tracks about 15 minutes in. I can't WAIT until my hysterectomy in December! :)

I posted a couple of new pics on Bodybuilding. One is of my back (and my little Boston Terrier rescue dog who just happened to jump up and pose with me - silly girl - she's just adorable). I really want a more ripped back like so many of the gals I see on BB and just last week increased the weight on almost all the lifts I do. That's been such a long time coming. I might have mentioned I have finally added back in pull-ups after a very long shoulder recovery.

Debbie - I think I actually bought Step Blast since you all kept saying how much fun it is. Maybe I should try that one today.

Theresa - So have you quit smoking? Good for you! My boss quit 25 years ago! She's 50. And our vice president quit 30 years ago. You CAN stick with it!

Have a great day everyone!

Susie-snow day?!!! already? Nice workout, and hear you about the cramps. I go to the doc next month to discuss some stuff. I am miserable. I'm only 31 and I have hot flashes-I just started today and I am miserable-nausea, yeah. And yes, I quit smoking in Feb. I have no desire to smoke again, but I have had a lot of things change and not for the better. I thought I would feel fantastic when I quit, but I don't. So hopefully the doc can figure out if there is something wrong.

Lora-I wasn't quite a chain smoker but I was at a 1/2 pack to pack a day. Good for you for quitting for so long. I also had an addiction problem 10+ years ago and smoking was the last vice I had (besides chips and chocolate :D ) and it was the worst. DH and I quit together, and now it seems like that was the way we used to bond. It's weird, I don't miss it but I have not felt right since I quit. It will get better soon .

I will post my workout quick and come back for personals after I shower. I did 4 miles on the treadmill and burned 560 calories. Max HR was only 159. Then I did Amy's Rumble Heavy Bag 1 and Heavy Bag arm drills 14 minutes 120 calories. Then I did Rumble stretch 14 minutes 66 calories and I train stretch 19 Bootcamp Grace Lazenby yoga segment 1 31 minutes 147 calories Total calories burned was 893 I did do about another half mile but didn't record the times etc because I was working at my hr monitor settings. Tried to do my ownzone using the treadmill and raising and lowering the speed to get my hr zones was not working right. Anyway, I got a pretty good workout in and graces yoga segment really gave me a nice stretch in the hip area. If I had more time I would have did the 12 min yoga cooldown at the end. But wanted to get done before dh gets back. He is off today.

Suz - A snow day already? Wow! I don't envy you at all. I usually look forward to winter, but ever since I got a motorcycle I don't want the cold weather to come anymore. Lucky you on the day off!!!

Diane Sue - I have Rumble, I haven't tried it yet because my heavy bag isn't hung in my workout room yet. Can you do this workout without a bag? Nice job!

- Nice job on the supersets again. I don't remember being depressed, but thinking back I may have been a bit moody. I didn't gain weight, but my answer the the cigarette cravings was to down a huge glass of water. Also I was only 23 at the time, trying to quit now at 41 would probably be a whole different story.:p

Suz - Those cramps sound awful? Maybe I missed it but what makes them so bad?

DianeSue - Awesome workout as always! I haven't done Rumble in forever, guess I kind of forgot about it. Would have been perfect for the mood I was in today, maybe I break it out on Saturday.

Can you do this workout without a bag? Nice job!

Debbie - Way to go on Step Blast, love when a workout flyes by like that! I haven't done Rumble in a long time, but the first half is without a heavy bag and I think she has someone showing how to do the second half without a bag.

I went to bed finally kinda yucky last night and had a bad night so really did not want to workout this morning at all, but I did anyway. I did Amy's Kickbox Surge Combos & Surges 1-4, but I did not put a whole lot of energy into and modified the surges. And I really wanted to quit at the 30 minute mark my head was beginning to pound. Also didn't help that DH didn't get to bed til 2am so I had to be real quite. Workout was 58 minutes and I burned 390 calories.

Thanks about Rumble, I really need to get it out and watch it. I want to do it.

Sorry to hear you are feeling yucky. Great job on getting something done today, though. Us Maniacs is hard to keep down, aren't we??? WE ROCK!!! Hope your head doesn't get worse.

Theresa - 31 and hot flashes? Yikes! You poor thing. I hope you have a good doctor. That was the key for me finally. I'm sorry about the smoking issues too. I hope you get that all worked out. I still say bravo to you for quitting! This is our SECOND big snowstorm already. Can you believe it? So early.

Diane Sue - Great workout as always. Enjoy your day with hubby. The city is closed down too so Mitch is off. :)

Debbie - That's funny you say that. Now that we have the motorcycle Mitch hates for winter to come! He just wants to ride, ride, ride. He just got heated clothes to plug into the motorcycle and he has heated hand grips too. Crazy!

Linda - When they did the ultrasound the doctor showed me my uterus and he said is has an odd shape on one side (he seemed very intrigued by this) and he suspects that causes a lot of the pain (for some reason???). Also, he found a growth on my uterus that he said could be causing some of it as well, although I've been having that pain for as long as I started running - when I was 19 and I'm 47 - and I can't imagine I've had that growth that many years! He wasn't sure what the growth was but when my OB GYN does the hysterectomy they will send it to the pathology lab and just make sure it's nothing. Which I'm sure it isn't. :) He thought maybe a cyst or a polyp or something. I hope your head feels better!

I am finally back. Showered and dh and I went out for awhile. I had some yogurt with cranberries and almonds post workout. Need to cook something soon.

Suz, I bet you are enjoying your snow day. I like when I am not rushed in the mornings to get that workout done. I think I have another morning tomorrow to get STS shoulders, biceps and triceps in. I am sure you will be glad when that surgury is over.

Debbie, yes, Linda is right, they have someone doing the Rumble Heavy Bag without the bag. The rest is all Kickbox some with the weighted gloves. You really should try it. It is not difficult to follow at all.

Linda, so sorry that you are feeling under the weather. But like many of us you get that workout in. I choose a lot of floorwork type workouts when dh is here sleeping in the mornings too. I starte out feeling lousy this morning so thought I would take it out on that heavy bag :D

Theresa, good workout combination. I think when we quit a habit it is difficult to feel right for awhile.

Debbie, I love Step Blast. Finishing my cardio recovery week of Insanity and Monday I will start month 2. A little nervous, I have not even looked at the dvd's. I think I am just going to have to take it as it comes!!

Roselyn, I have not done the Insanity workouts but from what I understand they get progressively harder. I am sure that you know that though. Good luck and I hope that you get some great results.

Deb- I LOVE Rumble. It's simple to follow and if you use weighted gloves and put your ALL into, it really gets your HR up (at least mine). I've gotten my HR up to 160 or so, but I use it when I really need to let out some pent up frustration. I LOVE the heavy bag segment also. The first half is without the bag though. I was addicted to this workout when it came out. I did it almost every day.

Theresa- good to know that I'm not alone with my lil' ol addictive personality. I've been clean 21 years....that was "my other life". Now I have exercise and you ladies!! I also quit smoking with my DH. It was hard, but it's nice to have support.

Lora, I get my hr up in the kickbox segment wearing gloves on Rumble but not as much as with the heavy bag. Sometimes I have been able to get my hr up on the heavy bag above 160. You must have worked all day:)

Theresa, I would not think that you would be having hot flashes that young. Maybe it is something else altogether. I had them for a long time, but I had a hysterectomy due to cancer and then menopause so I am sure that is why mine started earlier and lasted a very long time.
