Update on my back!

Today I went to the Doctor the orthopedist) for the MRI review; good news is that it was not as bad as they originally thought, although I do have three herniated disks. The nerve is more than likely being aggravated by and inflamed bone between the rib and the spine. There is wear and tear a well as what appears to be Arthritis. The orthopedist gave me another shot directly to the inflamed area and prescribed more pills for inflammation and muscle relaxers. They have also scheduled me for Physical Therapy, Massage Therapy, and a back support. I am still very frustrated because I am still not allowed to exercise to any great extent. She said No high impact aerobics, no step, no lifting(not even light lifting!) and no running (I will miss my CC’s). What can I do? She did say I can do a few ab crunches (what like 5 crunches?) nothing to crazy!

If you have any thoughts/advice, it would be greatly appreciate it!

Can you walk using your CC's? I've done that when I haven't wanted all the impact of running and let me tell you Coach Sean still kicked my butt!:D

Linda, I can walk slow! Doctor's order's:( I tried to slow walk doing CCV1, yesterday, I was speeding up:rolleyes: I only burned 124 cal! Thanks!

Thanks for your advice, Linda! I have never done a CC on the bike, that gonna be interesting. Is it still low impact if I go fast on it? I also trying to burn some cal.! I went for a long walk today and burned only 228 cal. I am so frustrated! I been doing so good losing weight, I am afraid I will gain it all back!

Our gym has a TreadClimber, is that low impact? I totaly forgot about that one.

Bayerngirl - Yes the bike is low impact even if you go fast, just don't be gettig all crazy and standing up and all.:p And the tread climber looks like a great idea. I found this on the internet as part of a review on the Tread Climber - get special note of #2:

Through our treadclimber reviews we uncovered some positive and negative aspects of the Nautilus and Bowflex tread climbers, as noted below:

PROS:

1. These machines do provide a great cardio workout - we worked up a good sweat and our hearts were pumping.

2. Tread climbers offer a low impact workout, especially good for people with knee or back problems.

3. They are easy to use once you learn how, and offer good control and displays.

Hi Melinda,
I'm glad your back problem is not to bad as the thought, I don't have ant suggestion for you, just to be patient, and you'll see that in no time you will be up on you feet doing everything you like to do!!;)
(((((((((hugs))))))))
I hope you feel better every day!!:)

Belinda,

Linda, thanks for the info on the Tread Climber. I thought it was low impact, but I wasn’t sure. I haven’t used the TC in so long (I only used it once or twice); I usually run for cardio. I am so glad to hear I will get my HR up. Now I can do the bike, TC, elliptical and walk, that will keep me busy for awhile.

Linda, I can not even tell you how much I appreciate all your help! Thank you! :D
