hello, i'm a bit outdated-- i'm the one with either the discman or the sports walkman strapped to my arm at the gym.

i just bought a new car and saw the ipod hook-up--- have no idea what's that all about.

time to break down and join the rest of the music listening world... any suggestions on what i should buy?

just need for those times or the few times i fly. i guess what put me off for so long was the idea of having to copy my cds on to the computer and then download them to the ipod-- that is the idea, right?

someone suggested a nano? what do you think-- and where should i buy one?

thank you.

a nano is good if you dont have a lot of music. my parents have one and it is perfect for them. it depends on what size you get, but a nano can hold between 240 and 1000 songs. as for me, i LOVE music and i have so many cd's so i bought a 60G which holds about 15,000 songs. the size you get also depends if you are planning on downloading videos onto it, as this would require more memory.

this link shows you all the configs for the ipods that are out there: http://www.everymac.com/systems/app...q/how-many-songs-does-ipod-hold-capacity.html

you can buy ipods at the apple store & best buy that i know of. maybe even amazon.

i LOVE my ipod!! i used to carry along those huge cd booklets with me everywhere i went. now i can have my entire collection at my fingertips. they are great for workouts too because you can create all sorts of playlists to keep you motivated.

good luck!!

OMG you get out there and get yourself a Nano right NOW, young lady!! :p :D

You can get them just about anywhere -- electronics stores like Best Buy, or an Apple store. I got mine at Circuit City but I think they went out of business. Make sure you get a good sports headset. I have a wireless Jaybird Gear which is really nice to use on cardio machines -- it keeps you from getting caught in the dang wires, but Sony makes some very nice regular sports headsets, too.

And by all means, put your CD's on your iPod -- you'll be so glad you did! It's so much nicer to use than a big hulking CD walkman!

And don't forget to stop by the Cardio Coach website www.cardiocoach.com and buy a few GREAT workouts to use on the cardio machines at the gym. They are AWESOME!!! :D

P.S. When choosing an iPod, you want to make sure it's good for workouts. I'm not well versed on electronics and don't know all the lingo, but I think you need one with a flash feature to prevent it from skipping when you're active.

I love my nano. There are two: 8GB 2000 songs 8 hours of video $149.00.
16GB 4000 songs / 16 hours of Video $199.00

I have the 16 GB and it's not going to be enough to hold all my stuff so in retropsect I probably should have gotten the Classic which holds 120GB130,000 songs 150 hours of video $249.00. So what I am going to do eventually is keep my nano for Cardio Coaches and other fitness related and buy the classic for all my cd's.

I was just looking at the new generation Shuffles for only $79.00. the old shuffles you could not have playlists but apparently the new shuffles you Can have playlists.

You are going to wonder how you got along all this time without an iPod!!! I absolutely adore mine and it's a first generation! It' still going strong! I'm getting my DH a Mac for his birthday, so I'm upgrading to an iPod Nano since they're doing the rebate and I'll get it for free!

It's not that difficult to copy your CDs to iTunes! It take no time at all per CD and you don't really have to babysit it. Just start the download and go do something else, then check if it's finished pop in another and continue! Initially, it's kind of time consuming. We did your joint collection a little bit at a time, starting with the music we wanted/liked best, then working our way through a bit at a time! We're still not done, but apparently, the music that's left isn't too important or we would have put it in by now!

Just do it! You'll love it!

Miss Lee: CC should really give you a percentage for all the plugs you make for them! (And the converts!) LOL! :D

I say make a giant leap from the dark ages to the future with an iPod Touch. That's what I did. I even skipped cds. I only own about four of them. DH and I have totally different tastes in music so we just don't listen to it very much. But I got a iPod touch for Christmas and in addition to music you get apps. I have one for tracking calories, one for Facebook, email, LOLcats, and some games. Most are free. Wherever there is wifi you can access the net. I can post on the forums from my ipod! You can also download free software that allows you to transfer dvds into itunes and than onto your ipod. I love mine and never go anywhere without it.
New apps come out daily. Whenever I get bored I go app shopping and again most are free!b Plus everyone will think you have an iPhone so there is a major showoff factor.

Just tell Sean Michele sent you! LOL!!!!!

I often wonder if I should put a disclaimer in my sig line to let everyone know that I have no monetary interest in Cardio Coach whatsoever -- I'm just a HUGE fan!!!

I would LOVE an iPod Touch!!! My DH bought one and he has never looked back. The only thing is, its BIG and a lot heavier than a Nano, so if you're going to use it for work outs, I'd probably choose the Nano. Get them BOTH -- one for music and videos, and one for your workouts!!! :D

Get a Nano. I've got a big old iPod that usually lives in the car. For travel, I usually listen to music on my iPhone. I'd really like a Nano for workouts. It'll be my next gadget purchase :D.

Loading the CDs isn't that bad. I just kept a stack by the computer and loaded them in while web surfing or doing other things. I love having all my music so accessible now.

Well, the regular Ipod can hold every piece of music you own if you want it to, which is good if you don't have any other way of listening to music. The nano is much smaller than the regular Ipod, and is ideal for working out because it has no moving parts. It holds fewer songs, but if you're just using it for working out and travel, it's perfect. I also wound up putting work seminars on it so I could listen to them while traveling by train or airplane. Like so many others, I just adore my nano!

ETA: Oh, and these earphones are my most prized possession, but I'm not a runner, so I can't necessarily recommend them for very active sports: http://www.v-moda.com/collection/modaphones/vibe.aspx
