Cathlete
Morning Maniacs!

I did Tracey Staehle's Strike Zone today followed by Cathe's PS abs- good workout and I burned 629 calories. The calf feels pretty good so I'm happy.

Have a great day everyone!

Today was Biceps and I had an excellent workout. Burned some major calories today.

10 minute warmup on treadmill.

8 sets - 20 seconds on/10 seconds off each exercise.

2 minute rest between each set.

BICEPS
Dumbbell Curls:
15's - 8 sets/8 reps
***Probably should have raised this a pound or two but by the last set I was struggling. HR spikes with thise exercise.

EZ Preacher Curls:
35# - 8 sets/8-7 reps (up 5#)
***Good weight for this, not sure I can go up any higher here.

Reverse Up, Curl Downs:
12's - 8 sets/6 reps
***Probably could have added pound here.

Hammer Curls:
15's - 8 sets/8 reps
***Good weight, was wiped after this.

Then I got on my treadmill and did Cardio Coach #6c, Challenge 1 & 2. Both are sprints. Really got my HR up with that.

Not sure whats going on with my HR monitor. It kept losing my HR during the sprints. I was getting pissed. Maybe the battary needs changed. It's just unusual that I'm having trouble with this, I haven't had any problems with it since Gene got it for me.

HR STATS:
65 minutes total
2 minutes below zone
37 minutes in zone
27 minutes above zone
1.5 miles travelled
528 calories burned

Patti - Glad your calf is feeing better.

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

We got some sunshine here today!!! WOOHOO! Yesterday I finished up with Chest/Shoulders and Triceps after the Cardio Coach #7, which I posted yesterday. Feeling stronger and going up in weight some. Today I am gonna do Cardio Coach #2 and Back/Biceps/Abs.

Yesterday's

CHEST:
Bench 70# 5/8 (up 5 more pounds)
Incline DB Press 25's 3/8 (feeling alittle easier, but not ready to go up yet)

SHOULDERS:
Arnold Presses 25's 5 sets 7/7/6/5/5 (reps increased slightly)
Lat Raises 12's 3/8

TRICEPS
Lying Tricep Ext 12's 5/8 (stuck on this weight for now)
Dips (used own body weight) 3/12

Debbie,

Glad to hear your leg is not bothering you today. Good job with workout! Nice burn..wow. I really think I get more calorie burn when I work biceps and so that is why I am just gonna do an easier cardio coach workout today. lol

Patti,

Glad to hear your calf is better. Nice burn!

Char - Excellent workout yesterday! You go girl! Nice job on the benching! And my leg still hurts, I just work through it. Nothing stops me as you well know. I have been stretching it (pigeon pose) and that seems to help quite a bit. Hopefully it will work itself out soon.

My workout this morning was Step Blast burning 432 calories, then Circuit Max skipping the w/up and stopping at the floorwork. I just used the 5&8# weights that Cathe used since I was doing this more as a cardio workout and burned 426 calories. I then did STS weights and plates abs stopping at the plates since the grandbaby was happily playing with my gliding discs, then I did the non partner medicine ball abs. I finished with Tracey's Yoga Solutions post cardio segment. Total calories burned today was 1043.

Patti, You did very well on burning calories. How do you like Strike Zone?

Today was Biceps and I had an excellent workout. Burned some major calories today.

Debbie, Awesome workout. Will you also send me info on the workouts you are doing. I'm thinking after STS, that I would like to do them. Sounds like another effective routine. May I send you something in return? I'm glad your leg is feeling better. Hope it continues on healing. Keep us posted please.

Char, great workouts. Looks like another great one today. Don't you rest in-between weight lifting workouts? Is this how you exercise all the time, or is it to confuse your body? I've tried doing that, and it's just too much for me. I need a break between them.

Diane Sue, Fantastic workouts. Great idea on using Circuit Max as your cardio. I'll have to try it that way one time and see how it feels for me. Keep up the good work!

Today my cardio is working in the garden, weeding. There are two 31 foot beds I have to get to before the dandy lions loose their seeds. YUCK!

Have a great day and also for those who follow,

Janie

Afternoon! DD is back from preschool but it's rainy out today- rest of the week should be beautiful and in the 80s. I can't wait!

Diane Sue: Don't know why I don't think to use the circuits with light weights for cardio days- good idea!

Charlotte: Great workout! I am envious of your shoulder weights- me and my wimpy shoulders, lol.

Janie: I did like Strike Zone- trying to take it easy this week (no step) and it seemed like one I could either go all out or take easy if I needed to do that. I admit to a slight crush on the guy in that workout with her- good cuing and he kicks butt on his combinations! I let my DD pick my dandelions, btw. Ha! I'm such a lazy gardener- million other things I would rather do. I admire that you do it- wish I liked it like you do.

Debbie: I saw what you wrote to Roxie about challenging yourself and how the body will adjust- I needed to hear that. I've been frustrated with a few shoulder exercises in STS where I'm stuck. My body will get there, just have to be patient and keep trying and pushing a bit.

BBL.

Sonya: You look amazing! I love the pictures. Are they doing an article on you too? Don't you love those plyo workouts in STS? I think they are going to be a permanent part of my leg routine, even post STS.

Sure Janie, I'll pm you. I need your email address.

All I can say is WOW! Sonya, you look totally freakin' AWESOME!! Are you competing or something? If not, you should! Nice progress.

Hey Maniacs!!!

Decided to go in town for a fast walk/run for 4 miles. The day is just too nice to be inside, once again, it is beautiful and perfect for running, etc.

Janie,

I divide up my workouts and do them in parts so after lunch I will hit the weights.

Sonya,

Looking good, girl! Yeah, you should be competing.

Patti,

Thanks! However I am always in awe of your calorie burns, girl.

Debbie,

You get my pm?

Diane,

Thanks for the recipe ideas. I have one that I do that is simple:

Chicken or Shrimp Stir Fry
Package of peeled cooked frozen shrimp or a package of boneless/skinless chicken breast
2 green peppers
1 onion
broccoli

**If you use chicken, cut it up in pieces and cook it in wok first til brown. If you use shrimp then add shrimp and all veggies at once and cook til desired tenderness of veggies, etc. Add in, before it is cooked, red pepper flakes and alittle honey. When it is cooked, put in some cornstarch in a pyrex dish or something and mix with some water and then add the cornstarch mixture to the cooked stirfry and stir til it becomes saucy..like a gravy. Better then most chinese food I have tried! Really good!

Patti - Happy to hear the calf is feeling better.

Debbie
- Done true Hardcore Maniac style working through a pain in your bum as Sonya said!

Janie - Want to come do my flower beds next?

Char
- Nice Workouts!

Sonya - Awesome Pics! I agree you should compete at least once!

Today was Triceps and Biceps. I don't know what my problem is, but even though I feel like I am working hard and I am, my heart rate does not spike during these workout except leg day. In fact it plummets during the ten second rest.

IMAX2 through first blast as warmup.

8 sets - 20 seconds on/10 seconds off each exercise.

Ran during two minute rest between each set.

TRICEPS
Close Grip Barbell Press:
40# - 8 sets/11-8 reps

Lying DB Extensions:

15's - 8 sets/ 9-7 reps
***Left wanted to give up long before the right.

Double Arm Kickbacks
8's - 8 sets/ 14-12 reps

BICEPS
Dumbbell Curls:
15's - 8 sets/9-8 reps
***Added a turn at the top which was toasting my biceps

Reverse Up, Curl Downs:
12's - 8 sets/8-7 reps
***This one will make my massage therapist happy. But my right elbow was hurting a bit, have no idea why.

Hammer Curls:
15's - 8 sets/11-8 reps

Then did Combo & Blast 2 from IMAX 2 and stretch from 4 DS HIS. Workout was 1:02 minutes and burned 456 calories.

Patti...actually I was featured on FA as a "new member" a few months back. Olesya, my coach, is the editor in chief of FA. She will be posting my pic on the site(not sure which one) but also said she wanted to use some of the other ones (she liked the 'back' pic) in different articles.

Yeah, the plyo workout was great. Easy to just skip through the weighted exercises to make it just a plyo workout.
