Not that anyone needs another DVD right now but...

Ok, I know so many of us have STS coming or maybe have ordered CLX, but I just tried out Amy Bento's All Pump Extreme this week, and you know, it was a great workout. It's very different than anything else I have.

First of all, it is 2 hours long, but I felt the intensity start to drop after about 1 hour 20 minutes or so. It takes a lot of equipment, but I like that, I like when I get to use all the stuff I buy, others might find that a negative if you don't already have the stuff. I had just the right kind of soreness for a couple of days and felt really accomplished when I was done. I like Amy, but many of her dvds are too complicated for me to follow, this one however was not at all difficult to follow the first time through.

It also has some cool premixes, in particular it has a 3 day split option in the premixes.

So if you were looking for something different, this one I think is worth a look.

Dela,

Can you give me an idea of what type of workout it is? Primarily weights, cardio, interval... ? Is it similar to Drill Max, or High Step Challenge, or Boot Camp? I've been needing something new and different, and have heard good things about this instructor. Would appreciate the info. Thanks!

Jan

APX is a great workout. The entire DVD is over 2 hours long, but Amy recommends you do the 3 day splits - she offers two different ones, I believe. I love the back work in this one.

To whoever asked, APX is all weight training.

I love Amy's weight work! Aren't those "push away push ups" killer? I always go from the lowest step height to the highest when I do them (reverse from how Amy does it). It's like plyometric work for your chest!

Sorry, but what is CLX? I don't want to miss out on anything!

I could not finish them and I had to stay up one riser, those are killer! Great idea too, there were some new moves in this, which is nice when you think you have seen them all to find some new stuff.

Jan, as the below poster said, this one is an all weight workout, there are some plyometrics type stuff too. It's not heavy weights, so I'm going to say it's more like the Muscle Endurance style of weight workouts. Most of the exercises are done in sets of 3's. This workout uses almost every piece of equipment I have and in 2 hours, certainly covers all the body parts!

Dani, I know I know, I can't help it. Yeah 2 hours is kind of crazy, I had to eat something around 1 hour and 20 minutes. Someone else mentioned that even Amy recommends the 3 day split. Once in a while though just doing a super long workout is kind of fun. I think I picked this one up when one of the sites, prob. advancedworkouts.com was having a sale on Amy Bento dvds. Hey I just looked, and it IS on sale again for $15, you really can't beat it.

Edited: oops gave the wrong link, I didn't realize there is just and "all pump" vs "all pump xtreme", but it's still only $15!

Ummmm, have you ever tried her SloMo? Love that one too. Not that I would ever suggest yet another DVD ;)

Well actually, I have it, :p but have not tried it yet, I bought a bunch of her dvds over the summer and tried one of the more cardio based ones first, and found it too complicated (for me), so I was discouraged and just did not try the strength dvds, and who knew??? I thought it was great. So SloMo is next on the list of unopened dvds.

I've had this workout for quite awhile now, and I've never done it. Maybe I'll check it out over the weekend.

I love SloMo legs. The others are good too but legs is my fave. You will be sore! I've not done an entire KBox of hers. It didn't seem bad though - I just went off Kboxing. No way, no how could I ever even think about doing her step workouts though!

ok, what do you guys think of Amy's kickboxing?

I have 3 of them, Rumble, is a little boring, but if I'm in the right mood it's not bad. Honestly though I can't remember which one I did, and which one I gave up on. I get frustrated easily when I can't pick up the steps right away. But I have kickbox xtreme and In the Ring.

But that backup person Toni is distracting to me, she's in a couple, but in Rumble it doesn't look like she is even trying, it's really odd. I mean I understand modified moves, but she looks like she is performing them half asleep.

Even in the All pump extreme, Amy's backups could use a meal, I like the way the ladies in the Cathe dvds look, healthy and strong and not so skinny. They are also just not as polished as Cathe's crew. I guess I'm just being picky.

But as long as we are talking kickbox, I LOVE Kimberly Spreen Absolute Kickbox and Powerstrike 4 (I like 4 better than 5).

Cats make fun avatars!

In the Ring is the one I started and never finished. I can't really vouch for her Kboxing ones but they are not as bad as the step ones...that said, I did get confused on footing and I hate that.

Jen, at Advanced Workouts, is in SloMo I think it is. She is really thin, dark brown hair - about shoulder length.

Now, I do remember thinking something like that (the half asleep thing) on one kickboxing workout I viewed... too funny...

I'll have to look at Kimberly Spreen and I have heard that Ilaria's Powerstrikes are pretty good... I have only seen one clip of hers...

so, thanks for the bug (again) ~ like I need an excuse to spend money! Especially after DH's little spree for Christmas! I got some catchin' up to do!
