Hey..Cardio Coach People!

TXGin

Cathlete
I have not ever used CC, but have read all of the praises about it. I recommended it to a friend who is interested and she wants to know which one to start with. She runs about a 10 min pace if that helps.

TIA!
Gin:)

I started with Volume 1 and worked my way through them in order but you don't have to do that -- it just made sense to me. You rely on perceived exertion to gauge effort so you can start with any of them. IMO the workouts get harder with each volume, but only because the challenges get longer with shorter rest periods. You really can't go wrong no matter which one you choose, and she'll probably end up with all of them sooner or later. :p ;)

People end up buying all of them in any case.

My favorites are:
Vol 4 - best music in my opinion, challenging but not scary challenging
Vol 8 - for everything about it - glorious workout - love the long endurance treks versus the shorter challenges in other CCs
Vol 7 - for intensity
Vol 2 - for the motivation and for getting in a shorter but kick-butt workout

I would not recommend starting with vol 7 or 8. It is nice to do them after you have been doing CC for a while. They are deliciously intense once you work up your interval training abilities.

The beauty of CC is you never outgrow them As you get fitter, you see your settings improving and you cover longer distances or higher inclines.

Let us know which she gets and how she likes it.

Hi Gin~

I usually go for volume 7 when I want to run. Volume 4 & 5 are a close second. Basically, they are all good and eventually she will want them all.

She can go to the cardio coach website and read the descriptions of each workout to see which one fits best with her. Some have more sprints while others may have more hills or treks.

Exactly what Vee said -- I agree with every word (except the part about Volume 8 being glorious. The 2nd challenge still frightens me -- LOL!!) :D

We are such enablers:D:D:D

Hey Vee...how do you put more than one quote in a post? I can't figure that one out:eek:

Just tell her to get them all - with his discounted prices ...she just can't go wrong with any of them.

i just tried volume 5 the other day...I am new to it as well. I loved it!! i am going to download more soon. It definatly kept your mind working and not on the clock.

Thanks everyone for the CC suggestions for my friend. She is going to start with vol. 4.

Thanks!:)

Woo hoo! Vol 4 is superb. Tell your friend the Cathe CC-ites are eager to "meet" her in Cardio Coach Land.

I was holding out on the whole CC thing- kept putting it off. But this thread convinced me for some reason to try it out and OMG it was FUN! I did Volume 1 on the elliptical yesterday and really enjoyed it. It made the intervals seem, less painful? I was distracted? I don't know what exactly made it great, but I really loved it. So thanks for everyone for talking up CC! It's going to be a great addition to my workouts. :)

Patti, distraction from the WORK of working out is, to me, what makes CC so great! Cardio has always been absolute drudgery for me, but Sean is able to direct my focus away from the work aspect. It's like you're off on some adventure or something. There is no way I could spend 45 minutes or an hour on my elliptical without CC! You have so much to look forward too as each volume presents new challenges and adventures! :D

Michele- ITA! That's what I was trying to say...just never quite got there. :) Yep, it was a great distraction and made me enjoy my 35ish minutes on the elliptical, when otherwise I would have been staring down the timer on that darn thing. I will probably have to get Volume 2 very soon!

Question- do all the volumes work OK with equipment instead of running? I will likely use them with my elliptical or stair machine and only jog here and there.

Absolutely! I use my treadmill or elliptical all the time and I know others here use their bikes. CC is very adaptable....just another reason why it is so great;)

Patti, I've only done CC workouts on an elliptical, and IMHO, I think the elliptical is ideally suited for ALL CC workouts. I'm actually considering getting a gym membership just so I can try some other machines. As much as I love my elliptical, it's probably time for me to branch out a bit *SIGH*. Oh well, at least I'll have Sean whispering in my ear to get me through the shock of a bike or, heaven forbid, a dreadmill. :D
