beet juice

Does anyone know where I can find 100% beet juice? I've checked Whole Foods but the version that they have has sugar added. I don't have a juicer either although I'm starting to think I should get one.

Anti cancer fighting properties. Mix with pinapple juice and it tastes really yummy. Both pinapple and beets are high in antioxidants and vitamin C. They both have the enzyme bromelain which can help to protect against breast and lung cancer.

Thanks this is the first I heard of beet juice! ;) LOVE Beets eat them while I am cooking dinner so I wouldn't munch on other things. Will have to give it a try.

Therese how do you cook them? Maybe I'll just eat them whole. They stain like crazy so I'm not fond of preping them. They are super good for you though.

Janie....I keep thinking that this thread is about:

:p:p

My mom is batteling kidney stones along with other health issues including cancer. I made her a batch of beet jucie the other day. An old amish recipe I found was:

Get 6 whole beets scrubbed but not cut except for the stalks.. Put them in a pot and simmer with 3 qts of water. It takes about two hours. Then strain and refrigerate. You should have almost three quarts if you simmer low. Drink 1 4-8 oz glass a day.

Taste like dirt literaly. She added some other fruit juice to it but if you want 100% pure beet juice this is it.

Back when I was juicing, I read that it's not a good idea to drink pure beet juice. Something about it causing constriction of the throat.

I also don't think it would be very drinkable (and even if it didn't cause constriction of the throat, it would have you in the bathroon more than you'd like to be!).

I used to make a combo of carrot, celery, beet and sometimes garlic (a small amount!). (Not as tasty as the carrot/pineapple/winesap apple mix, but not bad).

If you really are into beet juice, I think it's best to juice it yourself.

MMMMmm red dirt juice. I guess do you simmer till it pulverizes into mush? I'm gonna try this. I could probably dye some fabric while I'm at it. :)
My mother in law has terminal lung cancer and I wanted to brew up some up for her.

Actually the beets stay whole the entire time. The water changes color and the beets are just thrown away whole when done. I'm sure you can use them for something else but the properties of the beet are now in the water.

She did speak with her cancer doctor about the juice and he says anything homeopatic they just don't know about yet. For us it was a good choice.
