So what were the titles of your favorite books? I recognized some. Mine was The Shipping News by Annie Proulx.

As Michele so rightly said, my recent fave was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. My all-time fave is Cat's Eye by Margaret Atwood.

To Kill a Mockingbird
Gone With the Wind
The Sparrow
Pride and Prejudice

Wow, excellent selection (but I've never read Gone With the Wind and didn't like the movie). Love those others, though.

Mine was The Once and Future King by T.H. White and Pride and Prejudice.

ETA: Is that why you've got Sparrow in your username?

I LOVE the first line of GWTW. Hollywood just couldn't go this route:

Scarlett O'Hara was not beautiful, but men seldom realized it when caught by her charm as the Tarleton twins were.

Yup. :)

I loved The Once and Future King. The title was enough for me to fall in love with it!

I'd definitely recommend GWTW. The movie really was "just" a romance, but the book is about what it takes to survive. :)

Sparrow

The Sparrow was a pretty amazing book. Did you read The Children of God as well? (I think that was the sequel if I'm remembering right.)

I did! I don't think it was as good, do you? I know with The Sparrow I pretty much stayed up all night to read it.

Hey have you read The Mists of Avalon?

Yeah, I think I thought The Sparrow was better, though it's been a while since I've read either. I certainly remember The Sparrow better. I haven't read The Mists of Avalon; I guess you recommend it?

The Mirror, OMG!

The only one I recognized yesterday was To Kill A Mockingbird. Mine was Pride and Prejudice of course.

Reading this thread (and yesterday's posts) is like looking at the part of the bookshelf where I have all my favorites! I LOVE The Once and Future King, and The Mists of Avalon, and Outlander, and everything by Jane Austen, and Rumors of War (Beavs), and To Kill a Mockingbird, and Stranger in a Strange Land!! They were all great! What a cool thread.

My all-time favorite, though, is "Watership Down" by Richard Adams.
