Hey Guys,

I have been eye balling Zumba "Total Body Transformation System" as if I need any more workout dvd's  on TV and these workouts seem like much fun. Can anyone share there results? And what do you think about the workouts? and are they high intensity cardio workouts. Thank you

Zumba is more fun in a group setting. It is a blast and a great calorie burn. I suggest u look for a class near u first to try out. Most places charge $5 per class. I think u will like that better than dancing at home. I find that you feed off the energy in the room. The class I go to has age range of teens to 80 y.o. everyone moves and its a blast. I lost 3 pound when I fest started zumba helped me break a platue. Now I use it change up my cardio and keep it interesting. Check YouTube for video of my class. Zumba with Becky in fort Myers. Good luck!

Just my 2 cents

I don't care for the Zumba dvd's. Most of my complaints have to do with production quality. Anyone who is on this forum is advanced enough to be able take the intent of the video and modify it to fit their level and get a great workout from most videos. I was just disappointed since I love live Zumba classes. I tried to do the videos several times and was just frustrated each time and ended up doing another video. My gripes do make you appreciate how difficult it must be to come up with a concept and bring a video to completion. So if you want the details read on/if you got what you need you can skip the next several paragraphs.

My biggest three complaints are the gratuitous shots of women's shimmying chests, the fact the video can't keep the beat, and the toning sticks are pretty much a joke. Some times I think these videos are shot by men for men. There is a well endowed woman who is in the back wearing a spaghetti strap workout bra what they like to do a close up on just her chest when she shimmies her shoulders. I actually find it kind of offensive. I like to dance and I like to shimmy, but I don't need to see a close up of other women shimmying to do it.

When they were splicing together the footage they were not consistent with directions and beats. What will happen is the initial shot will be shown of the move going to your right and as they cut to other shots the group will be moving left to another beat, by the end of the move they are back with the original shot going the correct direction. Of course when you have been doing videos for a long time you aren't always looking at the screen. And you certainly know how to finish the movement as originally described. It was just that this added with the shimmying issue really undermined the credibility of the videos.

Finally, those toning sticks. They weigh maybe 2 pounds (I didn't weigh them). I thought it was a great idea when I saw the commercial of them doing things like holding a static bicep curl and shaking them, a creative take on an isometric bicep curl. That is not how they are used. In the toning tape you use them in traditional bicep curls and overhead presses which for anyone who is used to Cathe will find useless. Of course you can use your own dumbbells to add weight to the movement, I just had been charmed by the concept of using them like maracas.

After watching the infomercials I really wanted to order this set. My friend offered to lend it to me and I am so grateful she did. In any case I would choose to go to a live class if given the opportunity. The music and energy in a live class just can't be beat and I think that is Zumba's greatest strength.

Thank you ladies :) $59 bucks in my pocket:rolleyes:

I will check it out on YT tonight. I didn't think about looking for Zumba classes in my neighborhood. There's a YMCA and Bally's really closes to me. You guys have a wonderful and safe weekend:rolleyes:

You can check out the Zumba website. There is a tab on the top of the homepage that says "find a class". It will help you find a class in your area at a time that works for you. Good luck.

I have these, and really enjoy the cardio party, the live class, and also like to add on the short cardio to Cardio Axe from Brazil Butt Lift. The sticks feel like a pound to me so I don't really see any benefit to them (except the dog loves them). I love to dance, and had no problem learning the steps and following along. I work up quite a sweat on samba, quebradita, and calypso, and the African segment on the live class. Cardio party is about 45 min., the live class about 55 min, and the short cardio is 20 min. The Zumba class available around here is 25 miles away, and I prefer to work out in the early morning, so it just wouldn't work for me.
