Zoelda: "Runerval" interval tapes?

Hi, Zoelda! You posted a running question on the Ask Cathe forum, and you mentioned using "Runerval" tapes for your treadmill running.

They sound intriguing; I am interested in adding running track laps once a week but I'm a total beginning runner.

Could you share what you know and think about these tapes, as well as where to get them?

Thanks!

Annette

Hi Annette!

I'm not Zoelda, so I hope you don't mind me jumping in here.

I just received my runervals vid and have previewed it. Here is the website where you can check them out:

www.runervals.com

There are actually three available and also some spinervals vids. I have the 2.0 vid and it looks awesome! It is pretty advanced, so I'm a little scared of it - lol, but all of them can be set at your level because you work on YOUR BP (base pace). Troy (the coach) works in front of several exercisers on treadmills and cues you to the mph and %incline to change your treadmill to and for the time you are there. He's pretty good as far as motivating you to keep on. I actually ran on my treadmill yesterday just previewing the vid - not doing the workout - and it motivated me in my own workout!

Hope this helps!
Nicol

RE: THANKS!

Sorry! I hadn't been on in a couple of days. Looks like you already got an answer though. I was familiar with Coach Troy from Cycleroboxs and now Spinervals. He is the coach for the Runervals videos. I have done all three. You can probably skip the first one if you are used to running. 2.0 and 3.0 would be more geared for you. 3.0... I found VERY difficult, but I am not an experienced runner. I'm not sure if the site describes the intervals, but you basically go through various timed drills which have you running at 3mph, 4mph and 5mph faster than your base pace as well as working with incline... 3, 4, 5, 6, 7% grade. The last set on 3.0 is a DOOZIE where you are running at 5mph over base pace and working your way through some nasty grades. If you live (i.e. don't shoot off the back of the treadmill), it WILL make you stronger!

Sorry for the delay!

Take care,
Zoelda
