Yummy mummies check in

shopaholic

Hi all,
Looks like no post for this week. I hope no one takes offense at this week's title. My hubby terms in shape mothers at yummy mummies.
Ms. Alexis continues to teeth and now has awful diaper rash. we went to my in laws house (the one 2 hours away) over the weekend. They stayed at their house here on the cape. Ms. Alexis did fairly well and did sleep in the pac and play but friday night didn't go to sleep til almost 11pm, leaving her cranky on sat. we went to a christening but the house was not toddler proofed since their older child is 4, needless to say it was a little stressful for me. Alexis is now saying momma alot and when asked what a doggie says, she says "aruff". She is getting a flu shot on Wed. i am going to ask them to weigh and measure her. Alexis fell asleep at 7:30 pm tonight, tired out from swim class. Melanie, i am glad you are getting more sleep. Briee, i feel for you.

I must brag for a minute. I had my yearly ob exam and weighed in at 101 with sweatpants. This is the thinnest I've been in many years. please do not throw tomatoes at me, remember I am not even 5 feet tall and small boned. At the end of my pregnancy I weighed in at 133.

Now, to remember my workouts.

Sunday--Franny Benedetto-two workouts with a vengeance-step portion +abs
Monday-keli roberts-new bodybar workout, added some biceps
Tues-Christi-cia 9801+totally hot cardio dvd abs
Wed-firm bootcamp +cathe-timesaver shoulders
Thurs-Reebok intense moves and reebok power step
Friday-firm-supersculpting plus five more 5 day abs-day 2 and 1st 2 seg. of firm tt2.

Hi Elyse! I'm glad someone had a chance to start post. :) Busy week, last week. Justin is doing well. Sleeping most of the night. Sometimes he gets up twice, sometimes once. Someday he'll sleep through. :) Baby Justin has his 9-mo check up on Wednesday.

I'm lucky, as Justin hasn't had a diaper rash as of yet. What are using on Alexis' tush? That sounds so stressful having a one-year old at an unchildproof place. Esp. since it was for a longer period of time. Whew. No wonder you barely weigh 100-lbs!!!! I feel as if I'd look like an Amazon woman next to you, my friend. I'm at 5'8" and 135 or so pounds. It reminds me of my sister in=laws wedding. I was one of her maid of honors...and everyone who stood up for her was around 5 feet tall, all size 0-2...and then there was me. :D It was comical. I looked like an Amazon!!!!

Curious, shopaholic,...is your pediatrician going to give Alexis a flu vaccine series with the shortage? I'm thinking that they will not give to baby Justin. I"ve even been turned down, as a health care professional with direct-direct patient contact (even work with nursing home patients).

Okay, where's our challenge? Yew Hew? Where did it go? Who else needs to go on a chocolate fast around here?!?!?!? Am I all alone? Who would like to go SEVEN days without chocolate with me? Anyone?... don't even think you're going to take my Mt Dew away though... }( }( }(

Okay, here's my week:
Sun: KPC --only 40 min Justin fussed
Mon: off
Tue: CTX Cardio Circuit
Wed: off
Thurs:CTX 10-10-10
Fri: CTX Kickbox + Ab Ripper
Sat: off

Have a great week ladies!!!

Hi ladies! By definition, the post-partum period lasts approximately 6 weeks, so I think I will be moving over to this check-in despite my lingering pregnancy weight and linea nigrea. :)

Shopaholic, I don't know what you are using on the rash, but the best stuff (at least for Jordy Bug) is Aquaphor. He had a rash that did not resolve using Desitin or Balmex. The Aquaphor cleared it right up.

Melanie, I am in the same boat re: the Flu shot. Guess I'll be screening everyone we come in contact with. :)

My baby is doing marvelous (except the sleep issue... no routine... what a wild man ;). He loves baseball... I considered recording a few games... thankfully, I haven't since my Cardinals have lost. :( Anyhoo, he is cooing and talking. I turned the baseball game off the other night and he "complained" until I put it back. :)

Sydney has fully recovered from pneumonia. She is my daredevil. She was attempting to ride her Barbie big wheel thingee down the basement stairs while I was working out. It is difficult to "Bring it" and explain to a 4 y/o why she can't ride down stairs. :)

Jessi, my mom is still searching for my Wonder Woman pics.

Well, here's my week:
Sun: Rest
Mon: Chest & Back plus Ab Ripper
Tue: Plyometrics
Wed: Shoulders & Arms plus Ab Ripper
Thurs: Yoga
Fri: Legs & Back plus Ab Hits (couldn't face Ab Ripper)
Sat: Kenpo

Have a great week ladies!

Hi all,
At 5 foot 8 inches, Melanie , you are certainly not an amazon but a normal height. As you can tell, it is no accident that Alexis is small. She must have gone through a growth spurt though because she all of sudden fits into some of her 12 month outfits.
Autumm, welcome to our mommies check in. we missed you. Once your little one starts to crawl you will probably see more consistent naps. Alexis's litle bum is looking much better. I used desitin(store brand). Alexis will be able to get 1 flu shot at her pediatrician. I did hear they are charging a fee though but 6 months-23 months is one of the groups targeting as the highest risk.

Hi guys,
Hope your weekend went well. Mine was all right. I think I might be getting a cold. Tennyson's tooth finally pushed through and you can see it clearly now. He's back to his happy crazy self. He's bouncing/walking away on his Step & Play Piano. Nicolaus is one crazy kid. How do you get a 2 yrs old who used to eat SO healthy but stopped when he started visiting his aunt on weekends back to eating healthy?? I never had a problem feeding him fruits, veggies, gains, etc but now he refuses almost EVERYTHING even his favorite foods. It's been 2 weeks now.

Mel, don't feel bad. I'm towering over you by 4 1/2 inches. Shop, you're probably up to my bellybutton in height. :D That's great you weigh less than your pre-preggo weight. I wish I was at that point now. Mel, 135 is not too bad for someone who's tall. It depends on bone structure. Old ladies have big mouths anyway. ;-)

I really slacked off a lot last week. Didn't feel like getting up early to workout so I did a lot of short ones.

Sun- High Step Circuit
Mon- Aerostep with Gin
Tues-Reebok Circuit Challenge
Wed- Walk Your Way Slim advanced level
Thurs- Tae Bo Extreme (my hams and glutes were killing me afterwards)
Fri- Terminator, Gauntlet
Sat- Off

Have a great day!:)

Also, I forgot to mention to Shopaholic, I use Aveeno diaper rash cream on my boys. The rash is totally gone the next day with Aveeno. With Desitin, it took a few days and I hate the smell of Desitin. Another thing you could do when Alexis has a bad case of rash is buy Aveeno oatmeal bathe, let her sit in water with a bag of oatmeal for about 10 min. and use the cream. It'll be totally gone or 98% gone after a few hours. Just a suggestion. :)

Cute title shopaholic!!! Autumn what do you mean postpartum's only 6 weeks - holy cow - we were in post partum violation for months ;-) . It's a good thing we finally renamed ourselves :7 :7 .

Autumn are you enjoying the P90X? I realized the other day I've done almost 5 months of it now. I'm beginning to mix things up a bit, but sticking to it for the most part while adding some heavier leg work. (I don't do their plyo or any cardio - Cathe's just the best)

Sun-Tues. kalahari rest days :) :)
Wed. Shoulder's and arms P90X
Thurs. Imax II and S&H legs
Fri. Chest and back
Sat. too busy
Sun. Legs and Glutes 39min standing stuff, S&H legs HEAVY, Ab ripper

Melanie....confessions....I was drinking diet pop almost everyday this past summer and was truly addicted!!!!! I don't mean little ones - big 64 ouncers. But I was having headaches and couldn't figure it out until I cut out all the pop and now...no headaches. I've been pop free for 1 1/2 months now and I had to cut out all coffee too. How on earth can you tolerate the mountain dew every day....actually what I mean is do you get headaches if you don't drink it? I had to go through three days of headaches to finally get through the withdrawal. Pop is a VERY tough one to drop so I understand!! I could on the other hand live without chocolate for a week....when do we start!! (don't take away my donut day though!!!) Actually to make it even....I'll give up donuts for one week - ouch- and you give up chocolate }( }( }( and I'll race you to the pop machine...last one there's a rotten egg :p :p :p

Briee

Adding......wow hotspur are you really 6 feet tall? I have a sister in law whose sister is 6 feet tall and she's beautiful!!! She's very athletic too. I always wanted to be a little taller, but I'm kind of a shrimp at 5'3 (a hair under actually). Shopaholic how tall are you exactly?? Again...I've seen a picture of Melanie and she's got these LONG thin legs...she looks great. Mine are pretty short and stalky. Oh well...we all have what we're supposed to have!! :)

Thanks for the re-welcome! I was spoiled by our DD as far as far as sleeping. She started sleeping 5-6 hours stretches a few days after we brought her home. She was great with naps too. DS is his just the opposite.... he sleeps when the mood hits. :) He has done well 2 nights in a row though.

Glad to hear that Alexis' bottom is better. The acitve ingredient in most diaper rash ointments contain Zinc Oxide, if the the what you have works that is what matters. Don't you hate to see her bottom red. The doctor recommended the Aquaphor when I told him nothing else worked... I even tried some samples I had. The Neonatal Intensive Care Units in St. Louis use the Aquaphor... even the other local hospital uses it... my nursing students have to do a drug sheet on it so I'm not sure why I didn't think of it. Anyway, glad she is better.

Yup, I'm really 6' 1/2" tall. Sometimes I HATE it only because I can't find too many shoes that are "cute". I wish I could say I'm athletic looking. That was a year ago. Now I'm all jiggly wiggly. Weightloss is really taking FOREVER with this second post-partum. Oftentimes I wish I was a little shorter like 2 or 3 inches. A lot of shorter women have better bodies, more curves. I wouldn't say I'm curvy but I wouldn't say I'm a ruler. I'm an in-between. I get jealous of shorter women's bodies a lot of times. Men check out shorter women more anyway. :p I've never seen pictures of Mel or any of youses but I am very sure you all look GREAT regardless the heights. You guys work out a lot and hard. I just started working out HARD a month ago. I had 2 surgeries over the summer so I got sidetracked quite a bit. Fun, isn't it?! :p

Post-partum violation... Briee, your too funny. :) Thankfully, there is not Post-Partum Enforcement Agency.

I am loving P90X!!!! I broke through my plateau and am now within 9 pounds of my pre-preg weight, which I stayed witin 10 pounds after Sydney. I can't believe the strength gains!!!! I am going to work in Cathe cardio after I complete Phase 1. I thought I'd see how my body responded, but I miss Cathe. The Yoga is too long for me at this point. I like including it, so I am going to subsitute.

Giving up chocolate??? Soda? You ladies have more willpower than I. :9

You are a tall one, hotspur. Can I call you amazon gal? J/K :D You certainly know how it feels being amongst smaller than you people...so I"m sure you know exactly what I meant about the wedding thing.
Briee, thanks again for the compliment. Yes, I have small extra long legs. I like them b/c I don't have to work them thin. However, I think my torso is disproportionate to my legs, making my tummy bulk out a bit. :D :D I'm just LOL at my description of myself. We're so cruel about ourselves, aren't we?
Guess what?!?!? DH got Justin asleep. Better go workout right away before I miss my chance....

Hotspur, I am glad you recovered from 2 surgeries and hope you are doing well! It is very frustrating recovering from surgery when it keeps you from fitness goals... well, it is frustrating for many reasons. I believe I am having gallbladder attacks... and you know what I keep thinking about... the recovery time. My mom did great after hers but there is still recovery.

Melanie, your description is funny. We are pretty tough on ourselves. I am 5' 6" with a short waist, long arms and legs, chicken legs, flat bottom... not a pretty picture ehh? :)

Okay I'm loving your descriptions of yourselves. The imagination can paint an incredible picture of our crew on the "mom's site".

Melanie....had to post as I was downstairs not longer than 1 hour from when our challenge began (it began right?) and DH took out chocolate chip cookies and I ate a few (yes it's morning) and said "no problem, I vowed not to eat donuts for a week ......and Melanie's probably having a donut about now". This isn't going to work Mel x( x( x( . New strategy - new game plan!!!

I'll be thinking.

Briee

Nope, I had several handfuls of peanut M&Ms that were stategically placed in front of me on the pharmacy counter as I worked this afternoon. I was thinking we should see how many Mom's would like to hop onto the NO CHOCOLATE fast---7 day challenge to begin NEXT week (or Sunday)...
I'm game, anyone else?

No chocolate! After Halloween weekend! And there will no doubt be left over brithday cake! Oh, I don't know if I can join. Does my vegan chocolate chunk breakfast cookie count? These are not bad... really. :)

No chocolate, not my kind of challenge. I need my little treats.
Alexis got her flu shot today, napped for over 2 hours after the shot. I had her weighed and measured. She still measures 27 inches but weighed in at 15.15 pounds, over a pound gain from her 12 month. i can't believe she is already 13 1/2 months old. I am sure Bardric, Max , justin and everyone else still towers over her. I definitely feel the hospital gave me the right baby as i track her height.

November 1st? Can we do that. It's just 7 days ladies. Anyone?!?!?

Melanie, you call me an amazon, I'll barbel butt your head. :p Seriously, it's not the first time. I remember a few yrs ago, my sister and I went to the nursing home to visit my aunt. Some older guy, I think he was a Veteran because he wore those clothes but he doesn't look old. Perhaps in his 70's but sharp mentally. We walked past him and he said "HOLY SH*T! You guys must've ate a lot of Wheaties! Do you two play basketball??" My sister wanted to hit him :) but it didn't bother me much because I'm used to it. I was already 5'10" in 6th grade. Sis is 5'11" now. Did you ever get asked those sort of dumb questions by people i.e Do you play basketball? Do you play volleyball? Are you a wrestler? Questions people come up with at times! It's funny though. :)
