Your school best friend and where are they at now?

I was looking at my school year books and come across my best friend that I used to do and share everything with. We were cheerleaders, we double dated and just had great times. Well the time came that I met my husband and things kind of thinned out, but we still kept in touch. she was even in my wedding and that was the last day I saw her. It seems she had her plans and I was married and moved a hour away and we took on different lives. I really wish I knew what she is doing now, like if she got married, had kids or is she successful.

Wanted to hear any of your stories about your best friends and if you still comunicate with each other.

And hate the reunions, I left some of those people and I want it to stay like that! I hated the town actually!!

Ummm interesting you brought this up as my 25th highschool reuion is tonight ..I'm not making it its 1200 miles away .. But about the "bestfriend" Well we still see eachother even though she lives 1200 miles away .. sometimes a few years go by but we do always talk on the phone ... We did everything together ,back then .I still love her dearly shes a freind for life . But our friendship has changed as we both need a "Bestfriend " that lives near by and we both have that ...thank goodness . Its all good .

My best friend growing up went to a different school and is 2 years younger than me. She is working on her PhD in environmental biochemistry in Alberta. We don't keep in touch as much as we should, but she's very busy, as you can imagine. I should drop her an email.

My 20th HS reunion is in a few weeks. I am going, just to show off how great I look.}(

My best friend and I went to different universities and live in separate cities now, but we still keep in touch and try to see each other when we can. In fact....she does Cathe too and we "see" each other on the forums here sometimes!

Well, I was dating my DH back in HS so I am married to my best friend. :) My best female friend and I run into one another. She moved out of town, and we are REALLY different now. I actually have known her since the 5th grade.

I met my best female friend of today in college, a year after high school. I cut in front of her in the bookstore line. :) We had a few classes together and hung out occasionally. We survived the nursing program together, which was a bonding experience. :) She was with me during my labors and deliveries, deaths of my parents, the list is huge. We try to meet every other Friday for lunch. She is crazy, and I love her to pieces.

I didn't have any best friends in high school. I went to three different high schools in three different countries. Doesn't give one much time for bonding.

I had three very good friends all through school.

My friend Melissa, which I knew since I was 4 years old, and went through school with is still a great friend. We see each other once or twice a month.

My friend Leslie is a great friend that I have known since Junior High. We get together, talk on the phone every few months.

My friend Cheryl, who I was friends with all through senior high and college is not really a friend any longer. She went a little crazy, and I can't take the drama, but she is a wonderful person. I had crazy, wild times with all of these friends. Good memories.

Kim...your best friend sounds similar to mine! Although I was a cheerleader once and she wasn't. But we did play on the softball team together, double dated and she was my maid of honor at my wedding. We do still keep in touch thru email as she is 600 miles away. In fact I met up with her and another friend for 3 days in Sante Fe last year...Had an AWESOME time. My friend is taking the bar to be a lawyer...

About reunions. I went to my 20 and one was enough for me...:)...Carole

My situation is a lot like Shelley's, except I wasn't international. But we moved a lot, and I had "best friends" every place we lived, but they weren't really long-lasting bonds. I don't keep in touch with anyone from the high school I actually graduated from. I do keep in touch with a couple friends from the high school I was at for 9th and 10th grade though, via email. Haven't seen either of them in years - one of them works on a ranch in Oregon, and the other is in the Navy and travels a LOT.

I met my best friend when we were 3!! That's 34 years ago. Today we work in the same office!! She is a receptionist in our veterinary hospital. She has worked there for I think 5 years now, and we still get along, even though at work, she takes orders from me!! We really are very close, and still get together with 2 other girls that we went to grade school and high school with. In fact just last week we all went hiking together!!

Hi Kim,

I'm blessed to have three best friends that I've known since kindergarten and the first grade. (we're all 39 now) I've made lots of acquaintances over the years but none like them. We've been through happiness and heartache together and I couldn't imagine my life without them.

Christine

P.S. I'm the one wearing the "it's all about me" tank.

I just got off of the phone with my school best friend about 1/2 an hour ago:). She lives about an hour away, we have been best friends since our teens and her friendship has kept me sane through complete and utter insanity. I am as happy to be in a church with her as I am to be in a skanky old bar with her, we just 'get' each other. We were both widowed in our '30's and I feel blessed beyond measure to be able to share the unique challenges of living through loss and raising children alone with someone who really knows. We go a few months without seeing each other once in a while but we chat on the phone at least once a week. We spend a lot of time together when we can, in fact we are meeting at the beach tomorrow afternoon:) No one, but no one, can make me laugh and think so hard as my friend Ruthie:) My kids love it when we get together because they get to see my silly side and for some reason they find it very entertaining:7

My best friend in school lives only about an hour from me but we have lost touch. I guess just busy lives. When our kids were younger, we'd do all sorts of things together with them but since our kids are grown, we've grown apart. I need to drop her an e-mail (something other than a forward) and see what's going on. Her oldest girl has two children now so she's a grandmother. I guess I could be too since my son is married and will be 25 next month.

My best friend now is someone I've known since 1993 when I went to work at our local hospital. Even though we now both work at home and at a different hospital than the one I met her at (we both quit around the same time and went to the same place), we talk on the phone almost every day, go out to eat together with our husbands, and are talking about the four of us perhaps going on a cruise sometimes together. She is 13 years older than me but we just click. We've had a great relationship since day one.

My best friend and I had a big ugly falling-out just before we finished college. She's now a lawyer somewhere on the other side of the world. Such a waste. I've known her since kindergarten.

My bestfriend died 16 years ago from an aortic anuerysm. I will never, ever forget that day.

We were babies together, lived only two houses apart from each other and we were inseperable. She was my maid of honor and we had babies very close together in age.

I haven't bonded with another female since then -- and I just realized that writing this.
