Your favorite strength training dvd

hey! I absolutely LOVE lifting weights...I am curious what is your most favorite strength DVD. I have muscle max, pyramids, muscle endurance, and gym style biceps. I want more if necessary. Haven't been able to find a rotation for just strength training, that may not be a good idea anyway. I have afterburn, trisets, supersets, butts &guts....those aren't considered strength though, are they? Thanks for input

Hi,

Have you tried STS? There is a strength training workout for it too, just check for it in video rotations. Also, I recommend only doing strength workouts every other day not to exceed three times a week. Its important so your muscles have a change to recover. I like to do strength one day, then cardio the next alternating so my workout week consists of: strength, cardio, strength, cardio, strength, cardio, strength, and cardio. Be sure to eat clean and drink plenty of water. STS is an excellent workout system and its important to do them in order because each meso cycle builds muscles to help you be able to do the next meso cycle so it builds upon each of the meso cycles of which there are three. So, for your cardio days simply choose a cardio that you like to do. Personally, I opt not to do any circuit workouts during that sort of rotation because I want my muscles to rest fully on my non strength workout days and reduce chance of injury. In short, all of cathe's workouts both cardio and strength are absolutely awesome and worth every penny so there is lots of good things to choose from. I wish you luck and success in your fitness endeavors!:)

Hi again,

I do have all of Cathe's strength dvd's and her cardio as well. All of Cathe's strength dvd's are excellent. Her 4DS is great and had cardio on there as well but it does have something like 22 different premixes and there are strength ones in that 22 premixes all are awesome and effective. Many of the strength ones in 4DS are geared for heavy lifting so heavier weight and fewer reps. Another couple of favorites are Slow and Heavy, which has three different workouts on it, Pure Strength, again it has three different workouts on it, and I remembered one more Power Hour, that also has I believe two other workouts on it you'd have to check her online dvd's for the specific info but that's what I can recall right now. All of them are great you can even view clips of them from cathe's website. I hope this was helpful info for you.;)

Thanks, Nora. I've been wondering about the slow & heavy, will look at that. I'm new to cathe, and haven't figured out what DVD to do what day. I DO know not to do strength back to back, but have mainly done chalean extreme and p90x and the schedule was already laid out. I work a few 12 hr shifts and do not work out those days, so working out 6 days a week is not an option. the premixed sound interesting, are they just as effective as the original workout? I prefer to do total body workouts and that makes for a long time when, for example, I do the pyramid upper then lower.
My schedule:
Sun: off
Mon: off
Tues: work 12 hrs
We'd: off
Thurs: off
Fri: work every other fri
Sat: off

Thought I could do, for example, the cardio and strength on alternating days I off and a circuit on Wed, since I had a rest day in between.

Just trying to figure it all out!

If you like total body workouts, then I'd suggest STS Total Body & High Reps. Both of those are GREAT total body workouts. & I also love Slow & Heavy & all the Gym Styles.

You can do strength training two days in a row, just not the same body part. I think 4DS would fit your schedule perfectly. I like to pair it up with a run or jump rope for an extra calorie burn.

My favorite is pyramids.

Hi,

I understand about having personal schedule to work around. If your wanting a schedule to follow I'd suggest looking at Cathe's Video dvd and Rotations. Cathe has listed there different workout she has done a schedule for and are posted by date. For Example, Cathe's June 2012 Rotation. They are all listed there and its absolutely free. I'd say that many of us that visit Cathe's forum do utilize that often. Just choose the one that works for you and tweak it to fit your schedule. I also have to agree with someone else that posted if you like total body workouts STS Total body is excellent and has 8 premixes and High Reps has 5 premixes varying lengths and focus for different areas. Like I've said before you can't go wrong with Cathe. Have fun and good luck on your fitness journey.;):)
