Your Favorite Neutral Scented Lotion?

I want to get my friend some kind of lotion, body butter, or similar product for her birthday. The only problem is that strong smells trigger migraines for her. I, on the other hand, LOVE strong smelling lotions so I'm at a loss. Any ideas for neutral or non-scented lotions and potions that my friend would enjoy?

Thanks so much!

I, too, can not handle strong scents - or any scents at all in lotion, really. I am a big fan of Burt's Bees Fragrance Free Shea Butter body lotion. It is absorbs nicely and does not have a greasy feel, and keeps my skin soft and smooth. Incidentally, they also have a fragrance free "baby bee" line that includes shampoo and lotion that is really great as well. Good luck with the gift purchasing!

I have asthma, so try to stay away from fragrance. My dermatologist recommended Cera Ve moisturizing cream. I really like it. It has ceramides and hyalauronic acid.

Clinique has a wonderful shea body butter that is nearly fragrance free. I have used it for years, and I love it!

I second the cera ve recommendation. Is not fancy, but your friend might be forever grateful to discover it through you.

I LOVE Skin Milk. It comes in a lotion and a heavier cream and has little to no fragrance. Bonus: is very inexpensive. Look for it on a lower or bottom shelf.

I use Cetaphil. I know that it is a brand that is used in the hospice industry, as it is considered very gentle (and mine is fragrance free; not sure if the entire line is). I use it because it's very moisturizing and yet absorbs very fast, fast enough that I can put it on shortly before bed and not be bothered by it. I also use it on my face and it doesn't make me break out like many lotions do.

Be aware: unscented and fragrance free are two different things. Fragrance free means fragrance free. But unscented just means that it doesn't have an obvious strong scent, like flowers or berry or something like that. "Unscented" products often contain "fragrance" if you look at the ingredients.

I also have been using soap bars from a company called Chagrin Valley Soap & Craft. I looooove their soap, and have been meaning to try some of their mousses and butters:

Moisturizers || Chagrin Valley Soap

I haven't tried them yet but they get pretty good reviews. It's all natural, hand-made, family-owned, etc.

I don't have migraines, but I have very sensitive skin, and I ended up switching to one of their soaps (randomly, a shampoo bar :) ) to use for my face after using a certain neutrogena acne cleanser for well over a decade.

I would also add that you can make your own whipped body butter! You just throw some butter (e.g. shea, cocoa, jojoba, etc) in a standing mixer and voila! A bonus is you can custom add any essential oils that you want to add. A homemade gift might be quite nice for your friend!
