You think you are in shape when.........

Ok, I thought I was doing pretty stinking good. I've been working out very regulary and all has been going well. A bunch of us moms from my mom's group that I am a member of decided to join a volleyball league. Since we had all played before, we decided to go into the 'power league', which I LOVE! We had our first game on Tuesday night, and I am SORE! My hitting arm is sore, my fingers are sore from setting, and even my FEET are sore! My legs are fine though....'Thank you Cathe'.

I can't even imagine how sore I would be if I was not working out. I saw some of the other moms at play group today and they were much more sore than I was, so I guess that makes me feel a little better. I guess I was just hoping that I wouldn't get sore at all, but I know I was using muscles in a different way....just wishful thinking I guess! Anyway, just had to share!
 
Well Robin I think it's awesome that you joined this league! What fun! Yeah for the strong legs! I think it's fun to engage in some good sports activities besides all the regular workouts.

Think how you might have felt if you didn't already do all the workouts you do? :)

That doesn't necessarily mean that you are out of shape! The moves in the game are just hitting your muscles in a different fashion than the ones in your workouts.

I agree though...good thing that you are in great shape or you'd be a heck of a lot more sore ;)
 
I agree with Christine. How fun!

Now you have me nervous because a bunch of couples are getting together to play football this afternoon for an hour. Oh boy, I'm hoping for no sore muscles too. I did do the standing portion of GSL this AM and those slow motion lunges always get me. Feel the burn!}(

Hi Robin!! How are you? V ball sounds like fun but it sure is getting cold now!

I know what you mean. I raked leaves a few weeks ago and my lats were so sore from it! I kept thinking omg if I never exercised I would be on the couch with a heating pad now lol.

GOOD FOR YOU, joining a league! That is great!!!!

Don't fret!!! You are in great shape! You just did something you are not use to doing! Take my DH, for example...great shape but if 9God forbid) he cleaned the bathroom for me, he'd me limping around for a week!!!
 
Thanks ladies. Yes it is a blast. It is an indoor league and we play every Tuesday night until the end of January. My soreness is much better now, but my feet muscles are still sore! :) I guess I'll just have muscular feet when the 'season' is over!!!! LOL :)
 
lucky you the only other activity i do is "play" tennis with hubby. we stink so bad but get a good cardio workout chasing after run away balls LOL. at least we try to find something. we go for hikes on occasion but soccer and volleyball its on for me. }( very competive in high school with these sports

I know what you mean, Robin!!!

Our bodies get used to being worked in a certain way and when you throw a NEW form of exercise at them, they get all confused and go "WTF!?!" LOL ... thus, major DOMS, etc! }(

This is one of the reasons why I am afraid to try running even though I know it's probably the most effective cardio work out one can get!
