Kettlebells, KETTLEBELLS, KETTLEBELLS!!!

Everywhere I go on the forums people are raving about KETTLEBELLS!

I caved. :7

I just ordered The Kettlebell Way to Your Perfect Body. :D

So, now that you've snagged me, would someone please tell me which size KB to start with and direct me to the best place to buy one. :7

Hooray, Michele! :) I think you'll really like using them! They are *so* much fun!

I started with a 15-pound Go Fit KB that I bought at Target. If you can go to a Target or sporting goods store where they carry them, I'd recommend doing so so you can "play" with them a bit and see what size will work best for you!

Here's a recent thread where we were talking more about sizes, etc.:

So keep us posted on how you like them, OK?!:D

Michele my dear, you played a big part in finally sucking me into the CC's so I felt it was my duty to return the favor. You are gonna LOVE the kettlebells! I too purchased mine at Target. I started with a 15 and now have 2 15's for double kb work and a 20 for single kb work. I suggest going in person to get the feel for a particular weight before you buy it. Ofcourse, I think Target has a pretty good return policy. Keep the box, etc and if you find it's too light or too heavy, I'll bet you'll have no problem returning/exchanging it. :)

YES!! Kettlebells rock!!

I agree with others to go to a place where you can handle the KBs a little, maybe do a few swings.

The only place near me that had them was Dick's and they were pricey for the heavier ones. I ended up getting a 8kg and 12kg Kb from Perform Better - www.performbetter.com . Their KB prices were reasonable and east coast shipping was only $14 TOTAL.

Have fun, there's so much you can these!!

I know, I'm also thinking about purchasing some..x(

The idea is to die young as late as possible

Michele, you'll have to tell me what you think about them. I haven't even been tempted yet. Enjoy!!!

Robin - Be firm and steadfast in your resolve! I'm pulling for ya! You can do it -- you can resist temptation. :p :7

Leanne - Which workout do you have? Thanks for the link to that other thread -- that was very helpful. I'm going over to Target this afternoon and see what they have. I'll look at Dick's, too.

Beavs - Just you wait! Something'll get 'cha -- HA!!! http://www.pic4ever.com/images/devil.gif

Wendy - Hehehehe...I KNEW you'd cave! I just KNEW it! Ha!! I mean, after all, you're a woman of impeccable taste so it was only a matter of time before you got caught up in the CC mania. :p :7 So yeah, I'll eat my pie humbly and I'm sure I'll thank you in the end :*

And what a 'lil dynamo you are! Wow, you're lifting heavy!

Gayle - thanks for the advice about trying a few swings. I honestly didn't have a clue about kettlebell moves or form so I watched several videos on YouTube.

Janie -- c'mon! You know you want to! :p

Thanks everyone for all your advice and suggestions. At least this will keep me occupied until STS is released! :7

ETA Hi Cuz! I'll let you know what I think ;-)

You know, I think I'm coming around to kettlebells. I think I was allowing my annoyance at the idea that a person has to be 'certified' in kettlebells to teach them sway me away from trying/teaching them. They appear to be very versatile and fun. I may have to give them a try - after I pay off my new Pavi floor!}(

Hi again, Michele! I started with The KB Way (the one you just bought) and used that a few times to get my form down. Since then, I've bought Keith Weber's Extreme Cardio workout (http://www.dragondoor.com/dv052.html) and AOS Newport (http://www.artofstrength.com/dvdworkout/tabid/182/Default.aspx). I love them both, and they really kick my behind!}( I started with a 15-pound KB, but also purchased a 20-pounder for swings.

Anthony at AOS also has some great free on-line videos that helped me review form:

I hope you really like them! :)

I would hit the stupid kettlebell smack into my head, knock myself out, and then have a horrific headache. Or smack it into my arm and break the arm. Or lose track of my surroundings and break something else! Shana and Kettlebells does not = good things I'm afraid!! }(

>I just ordered Keith's Extreme Cardio work out. }( }( }(

Oh, Wendy, I hope you like it! It's a killer -- hurts so good!}( I really love it -- and I'm COVERED in sweat afterwards!

Shana -- I was actually worried about the same thing, but I haven't knocked myself out . . . yet! ;-)
