Yoga

Hello all.

We have no instructional classes in my area at all and was wondering if any of you do yoga on a regular basis and what your favorite video might be.

Thanks.
Kathleen

I have been a yoga instructor for almost ten years. I love teaching but when I do it on my own I enjoy videos so much more than a class. I find it a lot more relaxing and enjoyable especially because I don't have a teacher pushing me. I can do what feels most comfortable for my body. I do recommend that you get a good sized mirror. This was absolutely invaluable for me. It felt like I was doing the poses correctly but the mirror told a different story. I believe my form improved a lot more quickly because of this. The videos I would recommend are Ali McGraw's yoga, Total Yoga, Yoga for Energy, Yoga for Balance, and Yoga for Weight Loss. Now I don't really believe that I am going to get any weight loss benefits from that one but it is still a really good workout. Hope this helps. You can also check out videofitness.com for reviews of yoga videos. Good luck. I love my yoga. I do it a lot of times at night right before bed. We are most flexible in the evening. Just keep that in mind when doing the workouts. Push yourself less if you do your yoga in the morning. Our muscles are a lot stiffer then. Take care, Cyndie

Kathleen,

Living Arts is a very good source of yoga videos (http://www.livingarts.com) :)

They have quite a range of videos, i.e. yoga for beginners, yoga for flexibility, yoga for strength, yoga for relaxation. I don't do them as often as I'd like but they are really great!

Thanks very much ladies...I will try a couple of the tapes you recommended. I took a short classes several years ago and was just really amazed at the shape our instructor was in...just fantastic...and it was the only form of exercise she did...and she was just a lovely person as well.

I will be moving in a few sort weeks and the room in the house I am buying has big mirrors on the closets...something I personally wouldn't have in a bedroom...but I thought for an exercise room they might work quite well.
