yoga and time of month

Hi,

I have recently become addicted to power yoga, and I have heard
not to do inverted poses while menstruating. Does anyone out there think it is ok to continue to practice at that time, or should I just stick to restorative poses?
Thanks,
Cari

But, I've done inversions regularly all month long as a way to stretch my low back for a couple of years without any problem. I don't do them with a class, though, simply because I haven't heard anyone prove this to be an "Old Wive's Tale."

As with all fitness warnings, the instructors cant address you personally and must make it safe for everyone.

So many warnings are aimed at a large population who might include folk who do not have the knowledge, wisdom or strength to protect themselves from injury.

My thought is always to evaluate the reason for the warning and then evaluate myself in relation to it....

(are you an Iyengar fan? your sources were linked to an Iyengar based yoga site...)

its seldom that instructions are given with comprehensive or intelligent explainations that allow us understanding....

so often people giving instructions do not supply a well founded reason for the instruction --- i have totally lost my good faith to follow instructions that dont come with a verifiable foundation of logic and truth.
