yikes...scale is not my friend today

The first week in January I stepped up all my workouts and started documenting everything I ate.. gained 3 lbs figuring probably from the more intense exercise.

Then I decided to try 4 weight days a week instead of 2 mentioned in other posts and I gained another 2 pounds. I know I didn't gain all that in muscle and I know I'm not over eating.

Bleh...so frustrating.....stupid scale!!!!!

It's no consolation when people tell me this, but what the heck? I'll tell you what I am often told...
When you increase the length or intesity of your workouts, your body will retain more water. That is the reason for the increase you see on the scale. Chances are, you will still lose inches and the water will eventually work itself out.
Do you feel better?
I never did.:)
Hang in there!

Thanks muffin top.

Haha...it only makes me feel slightly better
I appreciate your response.

Yeah...its like I know I know but I'm trying to lose weight x( x( :-( x(

I've heard all the stuff -- muscle weighs more than fat -- blah blah blah...

I know what you mean... my scale hasn't budged in 3 weeks.

Sometimes when you start a more intense exercise schedule your body will protect itself by holding on to fat because it thinks you are starving it. You may be eating too few calories so you are storing fat instead of losing it. That being said do not fill those extra calories with junk. Try adding 100 calories and see if your body lets go of some of the weight. Also, drink enough water.

Hope that helps,
Nicole

How often do you jump on the scale? I know for me, it was less stressful and discouraging when I decided to stop getting on every single day. Which I know you're not supposed to do, but it was like I had some kind of weird addiction to the scale, esp. when I was trying to lose a few pounds. Now I try not to get on except maybe once or twice a week at the most. Then the weight gains/lost didn't seem so bad. I did experience the working out and eating good, but the scale just wasn't budging. I did eventually lose the weight, but I think it would have been more bearable if I didn't jump on all the time. I know how you feel though. Just hang in there and with consistency and patience, the weight will come off.
