A friend of my dd's borrowed her white shirt and it is stained with nasty yellow under sleeve. Is there anyway or anything that can get this ou?. Tried bleach..that doesn't work.
No advice here. My workouts clothes get stained like that after months of wear. I can't get the stains out, so I just toss the shirt and get a new cheap one to workout in.
I think the yellow stain is actually due to an aluminum salt found in deodorant. You might try soaking the area in vinegar, a weak acid, to see if you can displace the aluminum ions. No guarantees though--just using my chemistry skills.
This may sound odd, but my grandmother places all white's like undies, socks and undershirts in a pot with bleach and water and brings it to a boil (on low heat). That always works for her.
I have never tried this, but I heard that it works. If you take a soaking bucket and fill it with HOT water and put in a double scoop if OxyClean and some laundry detergent and let is sit for a good week. Then next time you do laundry, you just throw the entire bucket contents in the laundry and the yellow stains in the armpits come out.
I'm a sweaty, and lots of my white shirts have the awful yellow stains... I haven't found anything to remove them, so would love to hear if anyone has any good ideas for treatments that are effective, yet gentle on the clothes.
Make a paste out of Cascade powdered dish washer detergent and bleach paint it on the let sit for 10 minutes and wash . ***This is only for white clothes.
I'd suggest an oxygen-based bleach or WHITE vinegar (not cider or colores vinegar, which you might have figured out for yourself, but just in case).
Or better yet...make the clean-up the responsibility of the girl who borrowed the shirt (or her mother, who may have some experience with her daughter's pit stains).
