yawning and wt training

I am not sure why but when I weight train (especially heavy) I seem to yawn constantly. It is so annoying, anybody else have this problem or know why it happens?

Me too! I am well rested and ready to work out, but when I do straight weights I yawn continually. Not at all with cardio, or circuit training.

I do too, maybe it's because I'm tired (usually don't sleep well ) or it could be that with weight training it's at a much slower momentum vs cardio that the mind/body kind of slow down with it.

Of course I am purely speculating here

I've always heard that yawning is a sign your brain needs more oxygen (don't know if that's true or not). If so, maybe pay more attention to your breathing during weight training. You may be inadvertently holding your breath.

That happens to me when Im not fully wake or should I say, my brain is not as alert as it should be. Yawning means the brain needs oxygen. Proper rest and hydration should help you out. I usually have a cup of coffee and two glasses of water before my am workouts. HTH

Good luck.
