Xers.....Wednesday......

Hi all,

Today was L&G step mania or something to that effect, then I added a few more squats, deadlifts, and lunges, at about 50%of my maximum, yes I stayed with going lighter. Then I walked for 50 minutes because I had to take the dogs out. I'm intent on this cycle for 3 weeks which basically is for legs; lighter circuit Sat, heavy legs/ 50 minutes cardio Sunday, legs off Monday, DM or total body Tuesday (at least 25 minutes of cardio), easier hour of legs Wed, off Thursday, cardio Friday.

Traci - I am so sorry about the card. Ughhhh on the technology. It's great when it works, but when it doesn't it is ugly. You did persevere, so good for you.

I have to go find something to eat.

Tracy

Ok, I'm back for a minute:)

DH took the boys to cut firewood so I'm all alone:D

Tracy, You and those legs:p I find any excuse to not work mine and it sounds like you are just the opposite. I'm sure that's why you're so much smaller than me too. Glad you escaped the meeting and took the dogs for a walk. Is it a bit warmer this week? It's been chilly here but I'm sure it would be the Jamaica to you. Hope you got something yummy to eat:9

Traci, My, my, what a day you had! It is so embarrassing when stuff like that happens. I used to have to call the bank and let them know I was going on vacation. They would put a hold on my account when I would start getting gas while driving across country. I guess in the end it's nice to know they are trying to keep people from stealing our money, right? I don't know if I can give up my coffee. I figure it makes me go to the little girls room so much it at least has to be keeping the bloat down:p I have strong reactions to my glycemic levels as far as cravings go so I have to be careful. Sometimes my resolve is strong enough to stave off the hunger but for those times it's not I'd like to know what triggers those reactions. Today I was definitely TMing it. I hope I can catch up with Tony one day:)

Sandra, All I have to say is, Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! I don't know how you stand it! How do you even go out? Are they pretty good about road maintenance there? I'd be hold up living on beans and weenies:p SA is a good one and I always feel so pumped when I'm done. The Upper Body Plus workout makes my arms feel like jelly and I don't know which I like better. I guess we'll see in four weeks when i earn my XX status. I hope I can still get it even though I'm finishing the last phase with the Plus rotation. Let me know Sarge:D

Latrese, It sounds like you had a rough night:( {{{HUGS}}} I'm glad to see you're making your workouts fit for you. You are always welcome to vent, I know it feels good:) Enjoy the DOMS!!!

Jeanette, Sure hope your "aunt" came to visit today! You really are a Christi Taylor fan, aren't you? I like her too:) I am looking forward to getting all kinds of fun cardio in during the STS series. That is the best part is picking our own. I'm with you on the coffee. Traci said it does mess with your glycemic index:( I guess I'll worry about it come summer but for now it's too cold:)

Laurie, Oh my, sounds a bit cold!!! I see though that there are benefits, i.e. a clean house:) I hope your girls had it spotless on your return home. I bet you wish Cami was one of those wimpy dogs who don't like staying out in the cold, huh? Have you purchased the Plus workout? They are killer for sure but the good thing is that they are shorter but that doesn't mean easier, that's for sure:p Hope you enjoyed your Starbucks:9

Wendy, So glad to see you pop in! I can't believe you would have to live in Thailand for two years to make adopting a baby from there easier. I guess that wouldn't be easier, huh? Can't wait till you get home!

Christiane, Sounds like your trip yesterday wasn't exactly as planned but you made the best of it:) I hope German lessons today went well. My hat's off to anyone that can out in the effort to learn a second, third or fourth language. I think in America we don't have as much of a pressing need to learn various languages so it makes us passive about it. I really need to learn Spanish since I live so close to Mexico.

Kim, Glad to see you pop in even with sick kiddos. Hope they feel better soon! I can't even fathom it being cold enough to get frostbite here. I am spoiled:p

Swifty, Go easy on those ACE books:) Are you getting closer to the end? We miss seeing you everyday.

Off to make a meal:9

Jeanette - I hope TTom comes soon. I am so miserable when mine is late. I would suggest the April 06 rotation for a month mainly because it's a no brainer just to follow the rotation. I think that really helped my legs tremendously, and by the last week, I felt like no leg muscle was left un touched. Cathe thought this out well, and the intensity just layers on with the choice of workouts. Then if you have time before the cycling season, you could do the June o6 rotation or what I'm doing now. You don't necessarily have to do the exact cardio, but stick with the weight work. I like doing each workout twice, because it allows you to really fatigue the muscles before moving on and you can accurately choose the best weight. If that's too boring for you, then Traci came up with a leg rotation. I can fill in the workouts for you with what you have. I'm trying to build strength and endurance, plus continue to shape at the same time. I'm sure there is some literature out there that says that's not possible, but I'm going to try anyway:) I think if it were me, I'd use the April 06 rotation and go as heavy as you can, then recover a week, and then start the next month with something a little more moderate. It is hard to keep up that intensity for weeks on end, even though she says you can repeat the month. I was reading today about training for cycling and most of the articles suggest to train heavier in the off season, then go to lighter/endurance then maybe none during the actual riding season. If you train heavy now, then the weights that you can easily use for endurance work should increase and your power should improve. They all emphasized a strong core as essential to utilize leg power. If I find anything else interesting, I'll pass it on. Just some food for thought:)

Doubles/ Phase 2/ Week 5/ Day2 Plyometrics done.

Jeanette- That's so sad about your BIL's relative. Your so right about living life to the fullest, my dad died 5 months before he retired at age 60. So many plans he had for when he had the time.
That's great that you're trying to motivate your sister but some people really just aren't interested in serious exercise. Does she have a lot of weight to lose?

Wendy Great to hear from you! Enjoy the rest of your trip!:)

Tracy Did you get a chance to walk the dogs?

Traci- That's so interesting about the caffeine. So if I really want to get rid of belly I need to lower my caffeine level??? Oh no on the credit card. I had a similar thing happen last year when we were in Florida on vacation. I spent 90 mins at SeaWorld on the payphone in the rain, for Mastercard to tell me that they had cancelled my card because they thought it had been compromised. What a pain!

Sandra- Of course I did a tm run it's like minus 48 out, I don't think even Traci would believe Canadians are that crazy.;) Even though I did just deliver flyers in this weather so ds could earn $7 that's like $3.50 each except he doesn't pay me. I did used to run outside all winter I used my sponge hockey shoes, very attractive! But DH took pity on me and bought be a treadmill 2 yrs ago for an anniversary gift.
Woohoo on bumping up the weights!!

Laurie- That was sweet of your DH to bring you a Starbuck's!

Teddygirl and Nicole Enjoy? your DOMS! WTG on the hard work!

Debra- That's nice that you got a break from doing your presentation. I was just thinking that we needed to get Valentines cards bought and done soon. At least the kids are old enough to do most of it on their own.

Hope everyone had a good day! Kim

Hi all,
Tonite was a Garage Boys session. 60 minutes of "No Mercy". Tough one. Actually, the length is 1 hour and 56 minutes (if I remember right), but I stopped at 60 minutes. It also had 3 sets of squats where you hold for about a minute each. Those came at the end my workout and were burners. The GB's invited me to come down in the team van (along with my Ironman girlfriend) and start the ride with them. They'll be going super fast I know, so I probably won't ride with them at all. My Ironman girlfriend may want to ride with them though. There is another fella that isn't as fit as they are that I think I could ride with for the 55 miles. I'll just have to pace myself. Showers are predicted that day so that will be a deciding factor. Chico, CA is about 2 hours drive from here and in the warmer valley, so hard to tell what it will be like down there.

Oh yeah, Aunt Flo finally came today. Enough said.

Latrese, that's neat about your middle name. I've never heard that one before. The Garage Boys is just the name for a bunch of bike racing guys that get on their bikes (attached to trainers) in the winter and pedal and train to Spinervals. I went probably about 8 times last winter, toward the end and just started back up with them again. I'd been able to ride all winter up until now. We have snow and ice on the roads so no way you can ride, but you can spin on a trainer and keep some decent cardio going. Anyway, that's the story on the Garage Boys.

Laurie, way to go on getting in the dog walking and workouts before work. Just takes planning, doesn't it? Did those girls get everything done on the list today? Was the house sparkling? Years ago when my kids were home, I swear the kids got out the vacuum cleaner like 10 minutes before I got home from work. It was still warm. They had all day to get it done but would procrastinate. Wonder who they took after. Kids! Not sure if it was an aneurysm or not that got my BIL's cousin's wife. So tragic. I got an email last night from a friend telling me the status of another friend of ours. She's only about 52 or so and has Alzheimers. They didn't even expect her to live this long. Her DH still goes and cares for her every day. God bless his heart. She was the most "with it" person you would ever meet. An executive for a very large phone company. She was one of my horse riding buddies years ago. She got Alzheimers about 5 or more years ago. Her DH said that without God's help, he could never have handled this. Again, life can be short so enjoy it NOW. Hope you got your car all fixed today and nice of your DH to bring you a coffee.

Debra, glad you didn't have to do the presentation today. Hope you got some good rest. A Valentine's party? You are a better person than I! Your diva is a very lucky girl to have you. Oh yes, I LOVE that Tim McGraw song and never get tired of hearing it. Nice pics of you and CBL! He is a cutie patootie! The little hideaway was nice. Your DD is so photogenic! Got any plans this weekend? Yep, my aunt came today so now maybe the bloat will leave. What a pita. I love coffee, it's such a comfort drink for me, especially in winter.

Sandra, great going on losing that weight already! Must agree with you. -20 degrees? Well the good thing is that when it warms up to zero, it seems very comfortable. 50 degrees would feel warm after all the 30 degree days we've had. I was hoping it would be warm enough in the valley to wear shorts on the bike ride, but the high is predicted to only be 50. Probably have to still wear tights. Got to be better than pedaling in 30 degree weather.

Nicole, waxing shoulders? Yikes!! Glad everything is going well now. You are enjoying your workouts too, so nice.

Latrese, good job on the burn in C&B! Way to go!

Traci, oh my gosh, girl! What a disastrous shopping trip! You prevailed and it's all good now! So sorry that happened. Talk about a time waster for you. I'm sure those people behind you were tapping their toes and grinding their teeth. Glad it all worked out for you.
Oh well, a character builder.

Tracy, glad you could get out with the dogs for a walk today. Thanks for the suggestion for Cathe's April 06 rotation. I'm going to do it. Think I have most of the DVD's or can find equivalents for the ones that I don't have. Really looking forward to it. When you say to do each workout twice, does that mean in one session? I also have heard to work the legs harder in the winter for cyclists, then ease up once the more serious cycling starts up. Not sure how hard I will be hitting it this year (remember, I took up golf too?), but I don't think it can be a bad thing to strengthen the legs.

Kim, glad PlyoX is done for you today. Good job! That one was never easy for me. My sister is short, 4'11" and almost 51 now. Think she weighs 137 pounds, which is too heavy for her. She also has never been very strong, catching lots of colds, tired a lot. Us shorter people just cannot get away with very much weight on us. She also has short legs and arms. I think if she did more cardio, she'd start feeling more energetic. I'm so sorry that your father passed away while still young. My Dad is starting to have more and more health issues. He is of the generation where the only exercise they did was of a more productive nature. Like building fence or stacking wood. Right now he has a cold and was wheezing tonite when I stopped by. Hoping the cold doesn't go into pneumonia for him. It quite often does and is so scary. Maybe someday I'll get a treadmill. Do you ever do any Cardio Coach workouts? Coach Sean is great!

Got to go now,

Jeanette

Debra, I am so out of the loop! I saw Jeanette's comments to you and I had to hurry and scan back through the posts to see what I missed. We must have been posting at the same time:) Great new pictures! The cabin looked comfy cozy and just perfect for snuggling together. It looks like Julia enjoys CBL's company. Love the "happy" pictures:D Thanks for sharing!
