Happy V day to all the X'ers that I love so much! {{{{{{X'ers}}}}}}

Woke up to a wonderful surprise... DH got me my bike for V Day NOT my birthday next month! The cutest singing card with I'm Walking on Sunshine playing... We had agreed no presents as we are just doing dinner at home tonight (not keen on V Day crowds & prices in restaurants!) I dont even have his card signed yet.... I've always said he's a much better husband than I am wife.... He's had more practice tho- I'm his 3rd and hes my 2nd;)

Today is Tricep Day}( + I'll being having a V Day date w/ Tony for Cardio X. Its my non step cardio day:*
Triceps will be PUB, SS, CTX

My body is all a glow & toasty this week... Feeling like I need my Yoga (rest) day sooner than Saturday but we'll see. I'll base that on my performance today.

Back with personals from yesterday afternoon... YES SANDRA! We were indeed having a party on the board yesterday! CELEBRATING Monicas great news and all the X'ers being in home stretch! :+

Happy Valentines Day to all you Xers!

Sorry, I couldn't get back on to post last night. Got home, took a little nap as I hadn't slept the night before. Finished my painting of the trim pieces in the hallway and then started watching a movie "The Game", with DH.

Monica, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy for you!!! Isn't it such a relief? Must say, you held it together sooo much better than I would have.

Traci, a new bike for Valentine's Day? What kind, color, all the details please! I'm so excited for you! Did he present it to you or do you get to pick it out? We're also going to need a picture too. I'll be thinking of this all day long at work.

Got to get DH up for work now,

BBL

Jeanette

PERSONALS:

Debra- OMG Your dog has great taste.. Amys Pizza! LOL BTW: I just made Lea's Breadless French Toast... OH MY! Its weird but delicious! May be my new sweet tooth snack! I only used 1/2 teaspoon of Sugar Free syrup and it was plenty.. I'm a big time cinnamon girl so I used a ton of that! Try it!

MONICA - Oh the shopping sounds like so much more fun than Yoga!}( I am picturing you trekking in snow to shop! LOL Good solid workouts on deck for today!

TRACY X- Oh my you are indeed working those legs hard! On my sleeping, I'm also thinking that as sun is rising & setting differently now its affecting my sleep. I am awake later but up earlier??? At least I feel good- no fatigue during day anymore. Perhaps all the hormone 7 Thyroid meds are starting to kick in! HOORAY

LEA X - YUMMY on the Breadless French Toast! Dont know how I missed taht one but its DELICIOUS! Thanks for sharing the tip again. Dont worry about recall of all the posts around here! You always remember the important stuff!

Sandra- I'm thinking you might need professional help about those KM Drils! :+ Wonderful way you stuck it out and then excelled with PlyoX. I have always found that I got stronger as that one went along.... Cant really understand why you wanted to put GS Legs in and actually DO the workout on top ofthat but OK- You just go for it! You & Tracy gotta have the best legs on the planet!!! So what does one do at a V-Day party???? Spin the bottle?:+

Laurie-Jeanette- X - Steph.... Have terrific mornings & workouts or rest days! :7  :)

Oh Jeanette- So sorry , you snuck in here while I was posting! Painting completed? ^^^^^^^^5! You are such a good finisher!
LOL on bike.... It was all set up in the living room just like Santa had come! Its a Roadmaster Sport something or another.. royal blue (I had told him NO PINK!)... not a racer bike mind you... Just a great 15 speed to see if I really get into riding. It will be perfect for my CC 3 as well! I cant believe our weather just turned to 30's so there will be no test ride for me until next week when it warms up! :+ Bikes sure look different than when I had my last one 20 years ago! All sorts of gadgets & such. Thanks for being so excited for me... Its going to be a fabulous cross training for me. I really miss my Spin classes but it was just too expensive on 1 income.
Have a great workout!!

Hi all and Happy Valentines Day!

I'm home today, we are iced in. It's nice to have a day off, but I'm sort of out of food and really hope I can get out to the grocery store later. Today is sh/tri/biceps & abs. I may put in tomorrow's cardio today, since I'm stuck home. If so, I will be doing the KM blast challenge twice. Only kidding!

Is Oxegen magazine worth getting? I used to get Shape, but found that the articles all ended up being the same after a while. I'm still on the fence about the Tosca book. Does she advocate no sugar? I can't eat the substitutes and also can't do without something sweet at least once in a while.

Traci - A new bike! How exciting. I love cycling it is so great because no impact. My BIL found someplace in Texas where he said they have like 900 miles of roads that are perfect for road biking.

Jeanette - Are you completely finished the painting? I never get anything done that quickly. It always seems to linger forever.

Monica - Just curious, what kind of band is your husband in? I have quite a few workout dvds, but sometimes when I look at it it's like not that again! I only buy a few every year. I've just been working out at home for quite a while.

BBL, off to do abs, I think.

Tracy

Morning X'ers,

Today I'm thinking of doing Legs and Back plus ABX. Going to take it easy on the back routines.

PlyoX was good last night. Found that the rock stars ended up being tuck jumps, and jumping the river is harder when you can't use your arms. It all turned out ok though.

Debra, I have been trying to find Amy's Pizza in my area, after seeing it on a news program here. Your dog has gotten to eat it before I have. x( :D

Have a great day!

Laurie

Hi Laurie,

If I had jumped the river without my arms it probably would have been like jumping a tiny stream. By that time in the workout, I was always landing with a thud anyways.

Legs and back, without most of the back should be OK. I felt a twinge several times in my shoulder when doing pull ups, so I'm sure they are engaged to some extent. Maybe you should stay away from upper body all together for a while. I went back too soon after I hurt my back and must have compromised with my hip and then had to nurse that along for days. It's not worth it.

Tracy

CL/PH3/WK3/Day3: Shoulders & Arms; ARX

Good morning, and happy V-Day to you all!

TraciX - you got a new BIKE today?! How wonderful is THAT!? Kind of makes up for all the people who wouldn't take your money yesterday! Is it a road bike or a mountain bike? What colour is it? When are you going to ride it? Oops! I just read on further and see you already answered all these questions. Now all you need is one of those pull-behind "chariots" for your dogs! Wow, 5 marriages between the 2 of you. You guys are good at getting married. DH and I have been married twice - to each other. We got married 13 years ago by a JP named Johnny Carson, and then renewed our wedding vows for our 5th anniversary - in Las Vegas, by Elvis Presley in the Graceland Wedding Chapel. Nice that you're going to work on the V on the back of your arms in honour of Valentine's Day. Enjoy!! DD (6 years old) is actually planning the party. We sat down y-day and made a list of activities she wants to do. On the list are things like "rollercoaster" (slide down the stairs on your butt) and "run around fast" (self explanatory). Cracked me up. Nothing so complicated as spin the bottle!! And of course, we will eat. I'll be making a pink heart-shaped cake on Saturday.

Jeanette and TracyX - Oh, I can SO relate about the inflatable stomach situation! When I eat, I'm like the cobra who ate an elephant (any "Littlest Prince" fans here?). Maybe this is why in Tosca Reno's book she recommends that you eat 6 very small meals a day (200-300 calories); the small quantity keeps your stomach from popping out as much. Jeanette, I'm going to take my 90 day pictures at 4:30am, too, right after I do 20 pushups, pull ups, and sit ups!

TracyX - A snow day for you? COOL! What are you going to do with all your free time? Yes, you SHOULD do KM Blast Challenge - once an hour. Get going }( I have the exact same attitude as you (surprise?). If I find something uncomfortable or difficult, I take it as a sign that I should be doing more of it. Hence, I do that darned KM Blast! I guess this means I should also be doing more floor work....(I was actually trying to do that before starting the X, and was seeing some improvements in how it felt. I'll probably put it back in once a week post-X).

Laurie - I'm glad to hear you made PlyoX work for you yesterday. Another one to cross off the list!

LeaX - How nice to see you posting so much yesterday! You must be really feeling better? Does the FitTV version of SB include the Blast Challenge at the end (3 times through the whole routine, with 3 blasts in between?). If so, then what does it leave out? I love SB, and if you get a chance to buy the SB/SJP dvd, you won't regret it. The premixes that combine the 2 workouts are stellar.

Debra - how's your chest today? Chest & Back sure makes my shoulders toasty.

Monica - well, your evening sounds like it was even better than you'd planned! That sounds like a great way to celebrate your test results. For my cardio today I'm thinking of doing the KM combos, too. Or the 4th premix of KPC (intermediate drills and combos 1&2). I'll decide later. I also have to work my biceps, etc. today. Sounds like we have similar plans. Enjoy your workout!

Well, I'd best go get this crew moving for the day (that includes myself). Have a great day, all, and I'll BBL to report on my success (or otherwise....).

Cheers,
Sandra

Good morning all! Happy Valentine's Day. My the boards are busy this am. I can barely move my arems. I did Gym Style Chest and Triceps and I did the mix and match version. Why didn't I do this before??? MOMMY!! My arms are soooo toasty. Oh, and I also did ARX. I am glad that is all done. Tomorrow Gym Style Legs, which I miss so much.

Ok, time for protein shake then coffee. BBL with personals.

Lea

Good morning ladies,

Classic/Phase 3/Week 3/Day 3 (hmmmm 3-3-3)

Today's workout was Shoulders and Arms and was a good one, went up a bit in some of the exercises. Arms are feeling pumped for sure now. Will do AbX tonite with DH.

Just got an email from my mom. She took my Dad to the hospital last night as he started to not feel well, chills, temp. He has terrible lungs and I guess a cold came on him very suddenly. He's had pneumonia many, many times and that's what it is now. He's feeling better and of course wants to come home but the doc wants to check him out this morning. I'm thinking they'll keep him. Mom will keep me posted and I'll call the hospital room this morning after he gets up.

Traci, no, the painting is not done, but the 2 rooms (living room and hallway) are completely done. Still have family room and kitchen, two toughies that I'll need bigger blocks of time to do. I love royal blue, in fact my road bike is blue. Do you have a trainer to put it on for indoor workouts? Also, if you do, you might want to buy a tire that is not knobby for use on the trainer. I'll be happy to answer any questions on setup as far as seat height, but I see you took spin classes before so you've probably got that dialed in already. Oh yeah, I got my Tosca book yesterday, but have just started reading it. Got to look up the breadless french toast.

Tracy, no, not finished painting yet, still 2 rooms to go, but what I have done is completely finished. I've picked up Oxygen a few times at the store, but it is FULL of advertisements for fat burning supplements. Not sure I would get a subscription, just pick it up now and then at the supermarket.

Laurie, glad you are taking care of your injury. Yep, I use my arms a lot for the river crossings.

Sandra, you and your DH must have quite the sense of humors to be married by Johnny Carson and Elvis! Makes my little church wedding seem downright boring and stuffy. However, the reception was fun, with a keg of beer, cold cuts, salads and our own 8-tracks for music. 27 years later and we probably wouldn't do it a whole lot different LOL. I don't get the bloated belly anymore, just water weight all over, including my arms and legs. Your DD's party sounds like fun! Bet you were cracking up!

Lea, I can't wait to get back to the GS series and see how I do on the pushups. I just have to be patient. Did you mix and match to alternate between chest and triceps?

Got to run,

Jeanette

Hi all,

I just finished PUB abs two times through; those are hard to cheat on. I actually broke a tiny sweat. My upper body was feeling kind of tired doing those pikes. I wonder how I will feel later doing sh/tri/biceps? I guess I'll find out.

Back to cleaning. I hate it, but if I get it done today then the weekend is free.

Later,

Tracy

Hi all!!! Good to see everyone working hard today, as always. I went to Whole Foods today to get the stuff to make the parchment baked chicken. I got everything, but am having a hard time finding parchment papaer. My local grocery store didn't even have it. Ugh, now I have to do some searching. BTW, I will post the breadless french toast recipe at the end if any of you are interested. But first, personals:

Traci X - Jeeze, I wrote a post to you and something happened and it got deleted, so now I have to try to remember what I wrote to you and Jeanette. Gaw!!! As if!! Sounds like a great workout today. Woo hoo. And congrats on the bicycle. That is so awesome. What does your DH get you for your birthday??? And BTW, your health is important, so I am kicking myself for not remembering.

Jeanette - Well at least you have two of the rooms done. Only two more to go right? Sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he has a speedy recovery. That is always hard. ^^^^5 on upping the weights today. You go girl. And yes, I did alternate between the Gym Style chest and biceps today. I would do one set of push ups, then one set of weighted chest work and then one set of tricep, etc, etc,. By the time the band work came, I was so fatigued I couldn't finish it. Now I have another challenge. Don't know if I am going to mix it up with legs though.

Tracy X - Sorry that you are iced in. But great job on the abs. Woo hoo. Too bad you have to clean today. I always put mine off and then our house gets really dusty and icky, but I hate hate hate cleaning. I am the same way about getting a subscription to Oxygen. I like their special magazines though, like Nutrition and Clean Eating. (I have noticed though that some of the articles in those magazines are the same as in Tosca's book). For me, Tosca's book breaks down the eating plain and simple. She does have a recipe for oatmeal cookies in her book. I think that she doesn't want you to eat white sugar, because a lot of the "sweet" cooking she does is with brown sugar.

Sandra - Wow, you have married your DH twice? You must really be in love. The Step Blast from FitTv only has one of the three Challenges. But it still kicks the c**p out of me. I really do want that dvd though because I have heard good things about SJP also. But I really want Butts and Guts too. Ah, if I were a rich woman. Have fun planning your Valentine's party, you brave brave woman.

Debra - Don't you ever feed your dog? First the crayons and then the pizza? LOL. How is Amy's pizza? I have often wondered. I have tried the indian frozen entree's and those are pretty good. Hope you are doing all right today and are not snowed in.

Monica - Sorry that your stomach is doing bad. But I hope that you had a good time last night and were able to celebrate the good news with your girlfriend!!

Ok, I think that is it. Hi to everyone/anyone I missed.

Oh and the recipes for those of you interested:

NO-BREAD FRENCH TOAST (from Oxygen Nutrition edition)

Ingredients:
Cooking spray, 6 egg whites, 1 whole egg, spray butter, splenda, cinnamon, sugar-free syrup to taste

Instruction:
Spray omelette pan with cooking spray. Combine egg whites and whole egg and cook in pan until done. Put cooked eggs on plate and add spray butter(I didn't do this part), Splenda, cinammon and sugar-free syrup to taste.

Lea

My work here is done :)

I completed KickMax warm up, combos & stretch. Then did Shoulders & Arms for the very last time (TOASTY!) and ARX. Only 4 more times to go with ARX! It's interesting - knowing that I'm getting close to the end, I'm definitely pushing myself harder. I figure I've been doing this for almost 3 months now, I must be getting better/stronger by now, so go ahead and try a heavier weight, or a more advanced modification. For the most part, it's working. Having a discrete time period to reach a goal is certainly motivational.

LeaX - Doesn't that GS dvd already have a SuperSet premix? Mind you, I haven't done it, so I don't know if it's any good, but it sounds like what you did was a superset workout. I enjoy those. Excellent work. I think the Mix n Match features on many of Cathe's workouts will get more use by me, if I'm going to stay with a P90X-type style of lifting. SB/SJP or Butts 'n Guts? That's a tough, tough dilemma. Uber-good cardio vs uber-good lower body toning. Get both :p Not sure I love DH all that much; we just won a free trip to Las Vegas and it seemed like a fun thing to do :D And the video is a gas.

Jeanette - I'm thinking about you and your Dad. I hope he gets through okay. Pneumonia is what killed my MIL (she was being treated for breast cancer; had no immunity left). Very sad. Do you live near your parents? One of the funniest things about DDs party this weekend is that she is calling the living room the "Parent Daycare." Parents who stick around get to watch tv, use all the exercise equipment (yeah right!!!), and munch on snacks. DH is to give out "passes" at the door, and I'm to somehow help out with the games. The kids will be able to play a computer game of their choice, and the winner gets to pick what song gets played on the computer, when they dance. Oh, I'm charging up the video camera already....

TracyX - PUB abs TWICE?! You go girl! Next time, give the Cathe ab marathon a whirl: PUB abs, ME abs, and KPC abs. That does a nice job. Then you can add on the TraciX Bonus and do BC abs }(

TraciX - you bet you stink! I can smell you from here! Oh wait, that's me :+ I'm off to the showers in a few minutes, too.

Cheers,
Sandra

Well...here I am...Late checking in today...I had a facial this morning which was great. My skin has been SOOOO dry lately. It was very relaxing which I really needed! Then I was home to shovel the driveway...not a lot of fun since we had drifts up to about 18 inches! We have drifts in our backyard of about 2 and a half feet! And my chest and back have DOMS from yesterday, so shoveling just added to that! Then I had to skitter out of the house for a showing (keep your fingers crossed so that I can move out of this snow)...Then off to pick DD and her friend who are upstairs frolicking as I type! Thank goodness today is a scheduled rest day...I don't know if I could handle anything else!

Lea...I really like the Amy's pizza...it's yummy and mostly organic. My dd eats nothing but fruit, oatmeal, and celery..so I don't usually cook dinner for the 2 of us. I like to keep these on hand...Crazy dog, though! Glad you are enjoying a return to Gym Styles!

Traci...Good job with the triceps and cardio mix...Congrats on your new bike...It's just like Christmas there! I hope you gave Santa a big hug!! And maybe a little extra something later! How are you feeling after your workout? One thing I have learned from the X is take those yoga days when you need them! I think it just keeps you all stretchy and more relaxed and centered.

Tracy...Good luck with SBT...And with the cleaning! I hate those ice storms...I remember as a kid, we used to have them all the time. I would rather have snow than ice. I just wish our snow didn't last for months at a time!

Jeanette...Hope your dad is feeling better. Keep us posted! Glad you enjoyed Sh+Arms...I really like that workout, too. It's one that I will pick up again after all of this is done. You were cracking me up about Traci's new bike..You sounded almost as excited as if you got a new one yourself! So when will you be able to tackle the rest of your painting job? It must feel great to have 2 rooms down. I wish I was there...I really like painting...Looking forward to moving so that I can paint all new rooms!

Sandra....Glad your family is enjoying Valentines..My dd got some webkinz from my mom...and I can barely tear her away from the computer now! Have fun with Sh+Arms...It's my fave!

Laurie..That darn dog! She only ate part of one side...and it was still frozen! I went ahead and cooked it anyway and just didn't eat the parts she licked. I love all of Amy's products. Sorry you can't find them where you are. They're at our large grocery stores here..and Whole Foods, of course. Take it easy with your shoulder today...Don't risk making your injury any worse!

Okay..I had better run for now...The kiddies have gotten very quiet upstairs...and I'm not sure that is a good thing. Have a wonderful Valentine's Day everyone! I'm sure I'll BBL since I don't have much of a life. Just taking DD out to dinner tonight at the new Johnny Rockets...I'm sure that won't be healthy for me....but at least the dog won't eat before I do!

Hi all,

I finished sh/tri/biceps. My arms felt tired this am and they still felt tired when I worked out. I was able to either stay at the same weight and increase a few reps or increase a few of the weights. I have a wierd feeling in the tendon that runs toward my right thumb, so I didn't want to push it. I was able to increase all of the push up numbers at the end and I was surprised.

I'm done cleaning. I hate it especially in the winter because the two woodstoves make major black dust! I usually get frustrated with the mess around March and resign myself to a higher electric bill.

Jeanette - I'm sorry about your father. My DH's father was very sick for the past year and it was quite stressful. I hope that he gets better soon.

Lea - Maybe I'll just get the Tosca book instead. I eat clean, but I know that I don't get the variety that I should. I'm cooked after doing the GYM styles too. I guess that's a good thing though. I found it really hard to push myself to the max today. I was fine on Monday, but not today. I need some encouragement and I love Cathe, but she is so mechanical sometimes. Then I'm watching her do those curl up reverse downs and I just find it hard to believe that she only uses those weights and looks the way she does.

Traci - Another good workout for you!

Sorry if I missed anyone.

Tracy

Jeanette: Prayers & hugs being sent your way... I'm sure you're feeling thrown off course. Stay positive and hold good thoughts as I sure will! Please keep us posted & let me know if you need anything.. you've got my email. {{{{jeanette}}}}

TRACY X - Nice job on workout today! Not sure I "brought it " on my triceps but weights felt like they were way heavier than they were! Cardio X felt like Imax Blast Mania to me... I only have 3 days left in rotation til Rest/Yoga (easy one) so I think I will just push thru it. Tomorrow is Chest, Abs & a short Step but with no riser. Hopefully I'll feel stronger after a good nights rest. VERY strange about the tendon pain... You are smart tho on not pushing it.

DEBRA: Funny you said that about getting Yoga in... That first 15 minutes of CardioX is Yoga and man did I KNOW I hadnt been doing it! Your day & evening with DD sounds like pure joy for you! Enjoy every moment! LOL on your activities for REST day!

SANDRA: LOL... I agree we give 150% to the "last time" workouts! I think Tony knew we would!! Great workouts today!!!!! Almost there girl- almost there! LOL on the marriages... My first was when I was 18-20 (too long ago to count it I think!) ... Dh married his HS sweetheart- lasted 10 years til she turned "CULT-ISH w/ her faith" then his second marriage was kinda strange. His girlfriend of 5 years found out she had cancer... No insurance so they married (before the days of "pre exsisting condition" clauses... She ended up recovering fully but they agreed they never would have married except for that... On 1 hand they kinda were fraudulent I guess but on the other hand I thought it was sweet of him to marry her for that reason. Interesting tales we all have eh????

LEA X: OMG I bet you are fried from GS! I love that & SH the best of all Cathe! She's just gotta come out with more spluit workouts! Thanks for posting the recipe!!! You are so sweet - I know you have your hands full at home!

DH just called- on his way home already! 3 hours early! 3 guesses what he wants for Valentines Day! I KNEW that bike had strings!!!!!! lololol

Graet afternoon to all! Be sure & flex today- its good for your health!:7

Debra - Just think how strong you are going to be shovelling all of that snow. Good luck on the house though. I'm pulling for you. How did you get you dd to eat fruit, oatmeal and celery? I mention the word healthy and my DS's throw up. LOL.

Tracy - Isn't it funny how we start noticing the negative things about our fitness guru's like Cathe or Tony after doing them over and over again? Thank goodness there is variety. Please take care of yourself. You are right in not wanting to push it. But hey, thank goodness the cleaning is done right?

Sandra - LOL on the DH front. I'm glad that you enjoyed your trip. You know you are going to have to post that wedding video don't you?And you know, I have no idea if the GS dvd has a superset premix. I'm so mechanical usually. Get up, put the dvd in, push play and go. I'm gonna have to check that out. I totally agree with you about buying both dvd's, but DH just got me the Master Series, so I have to spread my fitness purchases out a little. Maybe next month:+ .

Traci - I have no idea what you are talking about. Bike having strings? Are you guys going to put on a puppet show or something?:+
Well I hope that you have lots and lots of fun. And I mean LOTS}( .
Guess we won't hear from you until tomorrow then huh?

I think that is it. Better go and pay attention to my kids. Have a great night everyone.

Lea

Hi,

I'm back checking on everyone.

Debra - I don't envy your snow. They have already called school for tomorrow here so I have another day off. I guess I'll go to the grocery store because I blew that off today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and selling the house. Where do you plan to move?

Sandra - I already think I've lost ab strength since I stopped doing arx. As boring as it got, it sure was effective. I think I'll try the ab mish mosh you suggested. I wish I had a multiple dvd changer.

Traci - DH home early. It's amazing what they can manage to do when they want to! I ended up not doing any cardio today; just no energy. I may have to add some carbs in tonight. I think that I'm going to be at some of my weights for a while because I'm right at 8-9 reps.

Enjoy the holiday,

Tracy

530pm gang... YES there were strings, YES we had fun and 2 hours later we are done with fun, done with dinner and talking about SLEEP! LOLOL:+ Thank goodness we are on the same wavelength & have our priorities straight! Happy V-day gang!
