X'ers...Tuesday Jan 9

Hi Sandra,

Don't forget the "X" in P90X. Extreme. For so many of us, we crave the extreme challenge yet lead normal, busy lives. It's very difficult to fit "extreme" in 6 days/week. Why don't you consider dabbling with P90X to see how you can best fit it in your life schedule?

That's what I have done. I have an hour in the morning but rarely, if ever the 90 minutes it takes for YogaX. I have come to a comfortable middle road where I am creating a hybrid to fit my needs which is fat loss and one hour per day. That means delaying the day when I can do the exact classic rotation.

Design a rotation using the workouts in a manner that is realistic and fits your needs. You don't have to do it exactly as it is mapped out. When your life allows you more time then you can enjoy P90X as written.

In the mean time I am certain you will enjoy the workouts, reap the benefits and be able to share your experiences with us. I bet you any amount of money that there's a few more people in your shoes.

Blaze the trail!

PHASE 2 / WEEK 5 / DAY 2 / CLASSIC-DOUBLES HYBRID

I didn't have the energy to exercise this morning, so I will do Plyo X when I get home from work. My abs are sore from ARX yesterday, it is a good sore. Has anyone else gotten sore in the back / lats from Chest, Shoulders & Tri? I wasn't expecting that, but I guess you do use your back in a lot of the push-ups.

I have to be honest -- I am loving the results, but I am tired of P90X a little bit. I really do miss Cathe workouts and the fun factor. I also miss using my barbell, doing heavy weighted leg work, and weighted chest work. I am going to stick with this though. I think I am tired of looking at the P90X set and I don't really like the music at all. Thanks for listening to me whine. I am going to stick it out, because as I said above, I am getting great results.

SANDRA -- I too have been extremely hungry!! You have to listen to your body and feed it. As other posted, just do what you can do. P90X is a great program, but you also have a life. Sometimes life is busier than other times and you have to keep things manageable. The folks at Beachbody probably have to always add the disclaimer that you have to follow the program 100% for results, because otherwise they would have people returning it when they weren't really using it correctly. It's just like the commercials for Zone Pilates that state you are guaranteed to lose inches with only 2 minutes per body part per day (total of six minutes). I'm sure that guarantee is only good if you follow some ridiculous eating plan they have devised. Seriously, don't sweat it. You are doing a lot more than most people -- think how many people don't even exercise at all!

I had an early morning meeting and DH kept me awake with his snoring so I didn't get my workout in this morning. I'm going home soon to do PlyoX. I've never done this one at night when my engery level is low, so I'll have to see how it goes. It is my favorite P90X workout so I should be ok.

Traci - Glad L&B is paying off for you.

Sandra - B&G stability ball abs is my current favorite abs workout. I love those V-sits.}(

Hi all,

I felt great this afternoon then when I got home the energy started to decline. Luckily once I got going I felt like I was really able to bring it for plyox. I did 15 minutes of step warmup first and a few sets of lunges, squats and deadlifts. I can't figure out how anyone can say plyox is an easy workout.

Lea - Sorry plyox didn't go well. There are lots of people sick around here. I wish I could wear a mask at work (only kidding, well, not really).

Monica - My lats are slightly sore from ch/sh/tri last night. I was having rotation stagnation last week, but I pushed through it. Even so, I've taken care of my craving for other exercises by doing them, but I have followed p90x exactly except for 1 workout. I've added in heavy leg work throughout and some extra cardio. I don't know if it's compromised my program or not but I'm happy so who cares?

Buffy I hope you have some energy. I was an AM exerciser for years and it took a while to change to pm. At first I always felt miserable.

Hi and good work to everyone else who got their workouts or whatever was a priority, done today.

No time for more personals, I've got to go cook dinner.

Sandra...I know it is hard to keep up with....but don't give up...Obviously you have a FULL life outside of exercie and diet...so do your best and forget the rest...It's hard not to take your perfectionism to the nth degree..but instead of not doing it at all because you don't feel like you can give it 100%...give it 95 or 90 percent (which it already sounds like you are doing). I certainly understand how you feel..I have had weeks where things just didn't go as planned....but I've stuck with it because the results I have seen have been great..and who knows---maybe next week will go by flawlessly!!!! Keep it up...You are doing great!!!!

Monica...I am also dealing with a little P90X burnout..yesterday I subbed yoga X with a Bryan Kest..and I was able to stick with Tony today...I get bored with doing the same videos all the time..Hence the reason I own all of Cathe's!!! I think you can substitute if possible a day a week or so to help you get over the hump! Good luck!

Lea...Yes...I am a closet hedonist!!! I like to eat what I want and drink what I want and I like to exercise frequently! I will say that during my P90X days I have limited myself more than any other time...I am really trying to follow the eating plan as closely as a hedonist like me can!!!

Tracy...Glad you felt good about PlyoX...I am sure you are having a yummy and healthy dinner!

Traci...hope you had fun with B&B..and have a great time as a bachelorette this evening!
Hi to anyone else I missed!!!

URGH!!! Let me tell you what kind of day I am having today. I typed out all of my personals and when I was about to post them, deleted. I was stuck INSIDE cleaning the darn house today while it was 80 degrees outside. And I took my three year old to the doc today and now he needs to get a blood test because his iron count was low. So I say URGH!!!!!

Ok, I will try to catch up yet again. And if I miss anybody, I really do apologize.

X -I am so happy for you that your energy level is high. I had to laugh because I thought that your workout schedule for the week was the workout schedule for the day and then you were saying that you were trying to follow Traci's advice and monitor the extra cardio. Boy, I feel dumb now. I can't wait to hear how Turbo Jam was. I think that I am the crazy one in here because I love the dive bombers. I love challenges and I do them like the boys. Great job on the eating. Keep it up if you can.

Gayle - I like to switch between the bands and pullup bar sometimes. Let us know what you think.

DB - My energy has so not been there either. I think that I am officially getting burnt out. I love the results, but getting tired on the 6 day a week schedule. Hopefully I will snap out of it very soon. Great news on the Cardio X that you liked it. I plan on doing doubles in a few months, so that is something to look forward to now. I swear this program really is an addiction.

Jeanette - I am glad that your massage went well. I did not catch that cigarette comment. Have to pay more attention in the future. But maybe I am just panting so hard, that I can't hear a word that Tony says. And Oooohh let us know how the one armed push up on the toes works. Can do that on my knees now, so hey, another challenge!!

Traci - I don't think that I am goint to do the BB rotation on P90MS. I miss my Cathe so much. I feel torn. I might do a little bit of the rotation and sub some Cathe in. I don't know. I am happy for you that your 2 good weeks are here. YAY!!!

Sandra - My dear Sandra. Baby getting to you huh? I so know that feeling. It is hard. But kudos to you for trying to do this program with a young one. You are having a rough day aren't you? And here I am complaining about mine. I hope that your thumb and stomach feel better. That is awful along with a teething babe. By the way, are you following Nancy Clark? Eat when you are hungry. She says that a huge percentage of people don't get enough calories or nutrients in the am and that is why they are hungry. I eat most of my food before 12pm. So eat eat eat. Your body needs it. You are working very very hard. And please don't feel guilty if you have to miss some workouts. I swear Tony or Dreya will not come to your house and yell at you!! Do what you need to do to take care of yourself and your family. Working out will always be there.

Monica - You are so not whining. I feel the same exact way. It's all I can do to start some of the X workouts, but I do and am glad when I have finished.

Buffy - Good luck doing Plyo tonight. I hope you have the energy for it.

Tracy - Don't get sick. I am with you on the posting that plyo X is an easy workout(if that is in fact what you are talking about). I give the poster a little while to get use to Tony and his way. I know it took me a little while. The first week for me was like, huh? What is this guy talking about? Who knows. It never seems to get easy. Hope that dinner was good.

Ok, that's all for now. Yoga tomorrow. Have a great night, and boy do I need a drink;-).

Lea

Hi everyone! I'm back, and I'm happy. Thank you all so much for helping me gain a better perspective this afternoon. I knew I could count on you guys!! That will be the key to getting to the end of the 90 days, I think.

DD slept until 1pm, and woke up happy. I PlyoX'd it while she ate her lunch, and had a good workout.

I'm going to do my best to stick with the Classic Rotation, but I guess I need to reconcile that in shifting my priorities, I have to accept that I may end up changing things somewhat. X is right - my life situation right now is not one that is conducive to following P90X exactly as written. But I can do what is reasonable, and be satisfied with that.

Tracy - I was afraid you would say that you gave up your social life :) Not that mine's anything to get excited about, but I do enjoy the odd afternoon at a friend's house.

I also feel that Monica is correct in saying that BB has that "follow 100%" caveat to cover their butts when people don't get the results they expect. And they put that 100% at a pretty high standard, if you ask me. I imagine most people have a hard time following it all, all the time.

So, if I don't believe that I'll be able to miraculously change my body with P90X because I'm not following it 100%, then why am I doing it? I have to think that one through. I know I'm loving the new challenges (in a love-hate kind of way). And there's no doubt I needed to see what life without excessive cardio is like. I like it. And I love what P90X does for the core. So, there's much to appreciate about P90X. I'll work to focus on that.

Gotta go! See you tomorrow! And thank you again for all your words of encouragement and helping me put it all in perspective again. I'll say it again - you guys are the BEST!

Sandra

Made it through Plyo X after work -- It was a great workout. Kicks my booty every time.

Lea and Debra -- thanks for sharing your feelings like mine on P90x burnout. As you said Lea -- I did it and now I'm glad I did.

Sorry I don't have much time today for personals. Was a busy work day and I have to get some dinner in me! I hope that I can get my butt out of bed tomorrow before work to do Back & Biceps and ARX.

Monica

Sandra:

"Deb B - what do you mean "Week 6"? Do you mean you're two weeks into Phase 2 (6 weeks from the start)? Enjoy Back & Biceps!"

Yes, I guess it is week 2 of Phase 2, but it is also Week 6 from the beginning!
