Xers.....Thursday again..............

Hi all,

OK I had a bad day at work! I NEVER get mad, but today I did. Our ongoing situation with the difficult student I spoke about a few months ago is back in full swing. Just to make a very long story short, he doesn't listen and will run out into the parking lot without any regard for traffic. He did this multiple times in Sept, again last Thursday, and Tuesday. We just cannot stop him. I personally feel it is a huge safety issue and that it is unfair to put staff in the position of being responsible for him when we know this is a long standing behavior. Well, my supervisor thinks differently and we got into quite a heated exchange. UGHH.......

Anyway, on the bright side, I got out of class early, and yes as I read Wendy's post, I was spitting in my evening coffee too.

Since I seem to be spending lots of money on dvds, I'm planning to buy STS and anything Amy or Shiva produce, plus Eion and that's it!

Sandra - I basically started the X again, just to have some variety and have a few months planned out so that I didn't have to think about what I'm doing. Also, I was ready to do some more push ups, because you know I love them, so this fit the bill. Honestly though, I've gotten great results strategically using Cathe's weight dvds and I usually remain injury free. I can't say that about anything else that I've tried.

Wendy - Do you really want another child? I love my kids dearly, but there is no going back to little kids for me.

Jeanette - I use the Dome Challenge as a core workout. It doesn't have enough upper body work, except maybe as a finisher, but if you really contract the core it works.

Debra - I don't think anyone realizes what struggles parents with handicapped children have to endure. It really makes you appreciative of what you have. It took me several weeks to get over the initial shock when I first started working with severely disabled children. We have some really disabled kids at work; cp, traumatic brain injury, and lots of other unusual be debilitating conditions.

Laurie - Nothing worse than a boring meeting. I've sat in my share of them recently.

I guess I'd better go finish up the BBQ.

Hi all,

I just watched/skipped through, upper plus and abs/core plus. I think both of those have potential to use with and outside of an X rotation. They have nice innovative moves that would probably complement some of Cathe's weight work quite nicely. I am going to try abs core plus tomorrow or Saturday. There's very few crunch type moves.

That's it for me tonight.

Hi all! Hope everyone is doing well. It is a dull, rainy dreary day here. I ended up just doing 2 sections of Stretch Max (thanks Sandra!) instead of yoga....I don't know if I am coming down with something, or if I am just tired, or if it is just because of ttom, or if my body is saying 'take a recovery week!', or if the stress of XDH's visit has just left me....but I feel like I have been run over by a bus this afternoon! Well, today was the start of my recovery week anyway, so just some stretching for me. My calves are still killing me too. WTH?? Anyhoo, I did a little reading for my class tomorrow, but I have no creative juices right now...so I will just think on my presentation some more. I am going to watch Grey's Anatomy and hit the hay early tonight.

I, too, am excited about Cathe's new series...I will definitely be preordering it on Saturday! It sounds like her version of the X...and seems very well thought out. I am sure it will be a quality product...like the rest of her stuff...and I agree with Tracy...I have been able to gain lots of strength without injury by using Cathe's weight work.

Just a few personals...

Tracy...
Sounds like a tough day at work for you. How do you think the situation will resolve itself? The disabled boy we met today had a lack of oxygen when he was born..Just awful to see how a couple of minutes can change an entire life. I certainly respect what you do...I don't think I could do that kind of work. You feel bad for the families and the stress must just take over some parents. They get so used to fighting battles for their children that it takes over their lives. But at the same time, I can't imagine your end of taking some of their misplaced anger at the situation. There were a lot of kids today with Down's Syndrome, too...as well as the run of the mill minor stuff like my DD. Nope, the urine collection is no fun...We usually do it on a weekend day...but we have to kind of plan it so that we don't have much going on since it requires us to stick kind of close to home. It is amazing though how much information they can get from one day's worth of urine...They actually don't even take the whole jug...just a sample of it. And the info they get from it is incredibly detailed.

Laurie...
Sorry your meeting was boring. That does not sound like any fun....but putting on your comfy clothes and your hanging out with your DD's does! Have a good night! Go back to my Wednesday night post to see all the 'l' words I came up with for you!

Sandra...
I am sure you are making the right decision to take it easy on the elbow. I don't blame you for not wanting to create a worse problem than what already exists. As far as Squeeze goes...I usually use it on days where I don't want to lift heavy, but I want a tougher workout than yoga (or at least my version of yoga..lol). It would be great to tack on after a short cardio but I don't think you would want to do it after lifting heavy. You are going to be surprised at how hard parts of this workout are...the burn is incredible in spots. I have never done the short version, so I cannot answer that one. But the individual segments are the same. I really enjoy this workout...I like Tracey's personality, and I have DOMS in spots I don't normally have them after doing it...so something must be working. I am sure you will find some segments easy.. like the push ups and triceps sections...Don't expect any bi or back work really, but shoulders, abs, torso and glutes get me pretty darn good. There are also some nice stretches dispersed in between. I just can't believe you haven't heard effenheimer...another one of those cultural differences in our interpersonal communication! Read my post to Tracy about the details about DD's urine collection if you are so inclined. They have not mentioned any long term effects due to this condition besides the kidney stone issue and damage to her kidneys. I am hoping that she grows out of it. They don't really know how or why it happens...so the drugs they use to help the condition don't fix it, just trick the kidneys into not being able to take out as much of the calcium. Weird, I know. She is also on a low salt diet...which let me add is kind of hard to do with a 6 year old...and she is supposed to drink lots of fluid..which is a tough thing with her. UGH. But obviously, there could be a lot worse things wrong with her, so I count my blessings. How is your DD today??? Is she feeling better? LOL about DH and his 'convention'! What a big fat liar!

Okay..I am caught up...and surprisingly enough, I am feeling better than I have felt all day...except for the darn calves...I am hobbling around like a little old lady...I am sure that will go over well in my class of teenagers tomorrow.

Hi,
Got my hair done tonite. Bet it took 5 years off of me. She said it was 1" of growth in 6 weeks. I was very ready for a haircut last Wednesday but due to her flu bug, rescheduled for today.

Lea, sorry about the heart murmur. Hoping that it's nothing to worry about. Keep us posted on the ultrasound, okay?

Traci, bet you are in bed already. What do you do, get up at midnight to get ready for the 3 a.m. client? I thought I was crazy! I put in my request at work today to work the straight 8 hour day. We'll see what the new boss says. I met him officially today and he seems very nice and implied he's not going to be shaking stuff up. I think he's retiring in a couple months. LOL about the Super Bowl party that Wendell's hosting. I think that's hilarious! Yes, only 3 more weekends of bike riding to get up to 40 miles. If it's nice on Sunday and the roads are clear, I'm going to do a 40 miler or so. I've got to go check out the STS notice.

Debra, glad your DD's appointment went okay. I hate having blood taken but only because my veins roll or collapse. I get all dizzy. Heck, while having my first mammogram, I nearly passed out. They have to use a tiny needle to draw blood from these veins. That was good that your DD was brave enough to ask about the disabled boy. So many kids would feel that was way out of their comfort zone and want to get away. So your legs got rubbed by CB? Maybe having my legs rubbed by my DH would be motivation for me to work them harder. Naaah. Your meal of brats, onions, peppers, potatoes sounds like something I would make for our camping trips. Seriously, that's about the only time I cook any more. DH had a very nice chicken soup made by the time I came home from the beauty parlor. It was good! What are you doing this weekend? Antiquing? Football game? Partying? You lead a much more exciting life than mine.

Sandra, sorry you are getting away from doing the X with us, but I totally understand. Why do something that is making you hurt? I do exercise because it's good for me, but also because my workouts are fun and keep my mind somewhat occupied. What will your new rotation be? I remember I had great results going from P90X Classic to a Slim Series/Jari Love rotation. My muscles got leaner when I did that. I did enjoy my workout with a short fairly intense cardio and then some yoga. Perfect. I wore my heart rate monitor for kicks during HIS and burned 198 calories. I'd be very suspicious of that "work convention" again. LOL! LOL re: bribing DD with a chocolate donut. Worked didn't it?

Tracy, glad to hear DS is having a good time at Jackson Hole. I would love to go there sometime. Sorry about the bad day for you. Takes special people to work with the disabled. My Mom loved working in a rest home with the geriatrics. She'd come to the dinner table at night with a story from the day, "Mr. Jackson finally had a BM" or something like that. All of us kids would groan. Hope tomorrow is better and hey, it's almost the weekend!

Laurie, sorry the meeting was a snoozer. Did you flex them a bicep shot when you told them you were "Lifting Laurie"?

I'm going to go check out small dog breeds. Just a little research for Mom and Dad. Now Dad is wanting a puppy.
