Good morning!
Oh, I'm so relieve Thursday is finally here. Yesterday felt like a reeeeally long day. Obviously I never made it back for more chatter. Who knew carving pumpkins can take so long? If I'd done the old-fashioned toothy grin, triangle eyes, I'd have been done in a flash. But nooooo, I buy the stencils and mini-electric-carver and have to go to town. The results were worth it, though. I did two pumpkins, and they looked really nice. I'm not sure if DH took photos or not.
Did anyone else have to take their younguns trick or treating last night? How'd it go? The two-year old caught on to this candy-gathering expedition right quick. She was even willing to put up with the annoying costume that impaired her vision. She was cute, though. I kept her out for a half hour. Then DD#1 and I kept on going with her friend, for another hour. DD#1 now has 3 large salad boxes full of candy. Why do we do this to our children??
Tracy - Can you believe this round of workouts has no floorwork whatsoever? Obviously, it's not necessary! Doing the leg work before the kickbox cardio might be another way to warm up, I would imagine. I think the cardio would feel harder, too.
Traci - Happy Holidays to you too!!! For me, Nov 1 is a day to take a deep breath and relax for a bit. Thanksgiving and Halloween are over. Phew. I need to start present shopping now. Shouldn't be too hard, as DD#2 was already pointing at something on the tv this morning, making it clear that she would like to have it in her possession. I checked out the Nov rotation, and can't say I was moved. She just repeats the 4 workouts, as produced, for 4 weeks. Then throws in SH Legs in Week four. I was hoping for something that used the premixes, at least. I know she suggested we add if we like, but I figure I'll just go ahead and make up my own. But if you're looking to be disciplined, then I'm here to cheer you on. Go Traci! Go Traci!! And yeah, what's up with all this teaching nonsense? She could easily make more workouts every year, if she'd just stop trying to do everything!
Wendy - I've bookmarked your blog. I'm ready to read! Make sure you let us know if you bump into two Canadians looking lost and confused. They'd be my gene pool.
Teddygirl - DrillMax is truly one of my favourite Cathe workouts. It has the fun factor and intensity factor all combined into one. Hey, what's this? I thought Tracy said that our workouts will eventually become uninterrupted from children. She lied! So, is DS still with you? Ah, I see he is. Maybe he just likes to spend time with his mama?
Jeanette - What an interesting description of the camps. Is DH still liking his new job, btw? Enjoy your day with DS and girlfriend. Very funny about the "cream of the crap".
Debra - Ah!! Sending leftover candy to work with DH is a super idea. I'll do that. I hope he doesn't just stash it in his office and keep it to himself though.....Okay, what am I saying about myself when I admit that this meez is my favourite? That's me all the way, baby. XDH is dating already too, huh? Sounds like now is a good time to tell him about the lawyer. Will you be staying in the house, or planning to move some time in the near future? The housing market in the US appears pretty dismal right now; not sure I'd be wanting sell.
Laurie - I felt the KB workout in my back today. I was very stiff, especially in the middle. LIS took care of that, though. Adding on the KM LCD?!?! Are you insane?! Well, yes you are....you did P90X 2x in one year

And I reluctantly agree, it would be a great combo. Now stop putting ideas like that in my head, because I don't want to have to do them

Ah, Lutherans do confirmation, too. I did not know that. Wasn't Brad Pitt in Se7en, too? Is that where they met (they were engaged for a while)? I've never seen the movie, btw, but that shouldn't surprise anyone here.
SwiftAmy - I feel your frustration about the workout interruptions. Good on you for persisting. 2 unassisted pull ups is still 2 unassisted pull ups!! You're doing so well, I can't believe you're already almost done your second round. I bought their icing this time, because I was really short on time. That was a very smart idea you had to fill premade cupcakes with an icing bag & tip. Did they turn out good?
Carol - So, how'd the Tracey workout go yesterday?
Nicole - You were a busy girl yesterday. What yoga did you do? Ooooh, caramel apples. That's twice this week they were mentioned...I need to find a recipe. Is the chiro going to help you rehab your back? I hope you get back in the groove really soon, but no sooner than when your back is ready.
Amy - You have a new Peanut! Lovely. I've been wanting one of those, and we'll maybe get one in a year.
Tess! - Welcome!!! Did you do Chest & Back today? What did you think? What rotation are you doing? Classic, Lean or Doubles? What results are you hoping to get from P90X?
Cheryl - So, what did you think about the Nov rotation? Are you going to do it?
I just reviewed yesterday's post, and can't believe I typed "Brenda" when I meant "Lorraine." Obviously you all don't read my posts, because no one said anything! tsk tsk.
Has anyone tried the cardio/weight circuit premixes? They look very interesting. Also, with the weights being divided in rounds as they are, it would be so easy to make a variety of cardio/weight circuits, switching out the rounds that are used. There's a lot of potential with these dvds, I think. Another workout I plan on trying is to alternate the HIS/LIS step combos (HIS #1, LIS #1; HIS #2, LIS #2, etc).
There is a newly published, large scale research project that looked at the link between many forms of cancer and bodyweight/obesity. What they found is that even a small amount of excess weight raises the risk of some forms of cancer. They're recommending that people stay really lean: eg. 135lbs for a 5 ft 8 inch person. That's skinny, if you ask me. It also makes me wonder whether the connection between weight and cancer is causal (as they imply), or spurious. By spurious, I mean, both a person's weight and their cancer risk are determined by, say, genetics or some other cause. As such, if you're lucky enough to be "naturally thin", you're also lucky enough to have lower cancer risk, but aggressively dieting yourself down to a low weight will not effect your cancer risk. Good researchers will have addressed this issue, and if I knew where to get a hold of this 512 page paper, I'd be able to see for myself. I'll have to check out the CBC news website and see if there's a link.
Have I prattled on long enough? In case I haven't, I'll share that I did LIS this morning. The step choreo is certainly fun, the music is great, and I had a good time. The shoulder work is intense, the calf raises burn, and the core work gets in there. I've now done all of the workouts but BootCamp (tomorrow's plan), and so far I can say that I like the intensity of the weight work, but the cardio doesn't last long enough to take me to where I like to be. I will be doubling up on the cardio the next session out, I think. It sure is fun, though!
Alright, time to go. Have a great day!
