Back again.
Wendy - are you sure you're going to the same Thailand that my parents are? No, actually, you're going to the real one, while they're in the wealthy American tourist part of it. I got a phone message from Mom yesterday, and the tone of her voice indicated that she'd either found inner peace, drugs, or was extremely tired. They're having a mahhhhvelous time, and not paying for a thing. They're currently staying in the Royal Suite in the Hilton. It's a 5000sq foot hotel room
Funny, I don't recall Mom saying anything about soaking her clothes before she went. Sub all you want for Round 2! You earned the right!!
Traci - You're looking for a core syn sub? What about Shiva's Creative Core abs? All 35mins of it is a good workout, with some similar moves as core syn. Oh, right, you sent that to Tracy, didn't you? Buy it again
Tell Wendell to keep his toe off the scale. Oh, speaking of Wendell's gut, do you recall the bit in "You: On a Diet" where he talks about omentum? Whenever I see a large belly now, I imagine all that fat curled up in there. Yuck. Oh, I wanted to answer a couple questions you asked last weekend. First, your smoothie recipe is very interesting. I would dread washing and chopping all that fruit & veggies every day, though. Does it take a while? And, ah, what was your other question? (processing.....processing....). Dang. I'll have to go back and reread. Until I get to that, I'll respond to you Diet Dilemma. So, the dilemma is: how do you get enough protein, without eating meat? Do you eat/drink dairy? If so, boiled eggs are a terrrrific and easy thing to stash in the fridge. And egg salad on a bed of lettuce or in a sandwich is yummy. There's also yogurt and cottage cheese. Stir all kinds of stuff into your plain, low-fat yogurt. Buy low-fat cheese strings and eat one with an apple, or crackers. And those edamame beans. And quinoa. Quinoa, quinoa, quinoa. Tosca uses it in many of her recipes (Do you have the Clean Eating Diet Cookbook? There's lots of good stuff in there). And natural nut butters. Of course there's soy and all it's products, but I don't know how much you eat of that? Does any of that help? I too don't plan on drinking protein shakes. I'll just eat a high quality snack/breakfast. Oh, just remembered your question: yes, my weekends are busier than during the week. This weekend coming up: Saturday - take DD to Michael's to do her craft, then drive to neighbouring small town to drop off both children at friend's house, with two babysitters to watch all our kids. Drive back to city, child-free, to enjoy a lovely lunch at a nice restaurant with friends, go to matinee at theatah (travelling Broadway version of Moving Up). Drive back to small town, pick up kids, come home. Sunday - take kids swimming at y in morning, go to neighbour's for dinner and b-day cake (toddler is turning 2).
Swift Amy - I doff my cap to you for pushing out the last recovery week. You have some determination, my friend!!!
Tracy - I like the abbreviated version of your post this morning. "And on Thursday, she rested."
Amy - Congratulations, Aunty!!! I hope the pregnancy goes well. Good work with 4DS kickbox. I'll be doing that one tomorrow; I enjoy it too. Do you do any step any more? What's your cardio of choice these days?
Teddygirl - That Ted is sounding better by the day. I like this man! What will his workout regimen be like? Will he....try Cathe? OMG I'm LOL at your post to Jeanette. I guess Tony it is, then, hey?
Debra - Well, look how easy that crown slipped off my head? It was on there quite precariously, wasn't it? Have fun making those dream catchers. Your list of pros and cons was quite interesting. As you say, it's different for everyone. Personal question: are you done having children? If you meet your ideal mate, do you want to have more children, or is that phase of your life finished with? I adore the chimichanga. Thanks for eating one on my behalf. Your hike sounded really enjoyable. DH and I used to do all sorts of day hiking. We lived in Kingston, Ontario, which is smack in the middle of some of the nicest hiking in Canada. Lots of lakes and beaver dams. Toddler stayed at the neighbour's yesterday (yay!), now it's the neighbour's turn to leave her toddler with me (payback...).
Jeanette - We watched Ratatouille last weekend. I enjoyed it, too. We still have Borat sitting here, waiting to be watched. Maybe Friday night. YAY! You're climbing aboard the X wagon! Atta girl! Dust off that Bowflex! Are you going to do Lean, Classic, or Doubles? LOL!!! I'm so glad you don't visit your children at work every day. I imagine when your kids were little they didn't encourage parent participation as much as they do now? It seems like they're always needing volunteers for something or other. I normally can't go because of the 2 year old. It's just what it is. I'm a Bad Mother for DD#1 because I never volunteer, but a Good Mother for DD#2 because I'm being a full-time mom for her. Well, except for when I'm on this computer. Then she's on her own, and I'm the Worst Mother.
Nicole - Don't feel to upset about your cardio level. CM is a busy little workout. It's fun, though.
Nobody knows what the SAS manual is? It's a survival manual made by the British military: Sea, Air, and Surface I think it stands for. Or Surface Air and Sea. Anyhoo, it tells you how to get water from a rock (squeeze really hard), etc. I'm not sure if there are suggestions on how to cut off your own arm if trapped by a boulder, though (shudder). People can find themselves in some really unexpected situations, can't they?
I went to Chapters last night and found Shiva's new Radiant Heart dvd, as well as Finn's Pure & Simple Yoga. Both are about 35 mins long. I like that; I'm more likely to find time to fit them in, then the longer versions on the other dvds. I look forward to trying Shiva's later on today.
While shopping yesterday I found a child-sized (18") stability ball and 1lb and .5lb dumbells for kids. I bought them for DD to take with her to the y this evening. We have our Jump & Pump class. Wheeeeee!!!!
Cheers,
Sandra
