Happy good morning X'ers!

After 2 dinners out this weekend I officially fell off Drs wagon of no yeast, no alcohol etc... had more tortilla chips & added 2 glasses of wine to last nights dinner... OH WELL! My weekend days were clean just not dinners so I figured if I eat 6 meals a day thats 180 meals in a month and failed to follow plan just these 2 meals I still will have follwed plan for 178 meals! Now hows that for looking on bright side!

Today is Rest / Yoga day.... First one all month and still feeling like I COULD do something but I just gotta let this bod recover a bit. After yesterday unbelieveable challenging lower workout I am feeling tight and warm but no pain or DOMS. I guess that shows how strong my legs got with the X! Thats pretty cool as before X I wouldnt have been able to walk for days and I'd be popping Alieve like candy.

BB in a few with personals from yesterday!

&*&*&*&*&*&*&* PERSONALS &*&*&*&*&*&*&*&

Happy Dancing for all in final Monster Week!!!! Sandra, Debra, Jeanette.... anyone else?

TRACY X:
Incredible Kick workout you mish moshed yesterday! I bet that was a soaker! I noted it for a kick day that I really want a lot of POW out of! Thanks for idea on making LowMax more Plyo - ish.... That kinda seems to be what I have discovered for my legs in terms of results. For this weeks legs I am gong back to Tony and mish-moshing Plyo work from Sweat 5/6, Plyo Legs, P90X Legs, & PlyoX. I basically broke all those workouts into segments and will mish-mosh every 3rd day. It will also give me some variety. Will have to see how that goes.

SANDRA:
Couldnt get the You Tube thing to load - checked out a couple of links on OD that were mentioned. The Ross Training site looks good but he only has manuals and I need an instructor to kick my butt! Thanks for links on AquaJocks workout & the T Shirt Link.... You were a web master yesterday! Hope your tummy is back to normal and still feeling flat! Those are happy dancing days arent they? On the movie list... The ones I own are all the classic oldies.. Bogey & Bacall - Cary Grant - etc.... I could watch those every day and never tire of them. On my Drs Detox Diet... I have 2.3 weeks left! Its actually very doable and makes me feel great now that I'm in the swing... Weird tho- I do see now how food / alcohol trigger all sorts of unpleasantries for me. Its been a great lesson in understanding my body even more. As far as weight... sure its down a few "pounds" but I'm sure its the dairy bloat that left as my calorie intake is around 1800 of Protein & Veggies. Usually its 1300-1600 max. I am down to 2 lbs to my goal so it will be interesting to see if I can hold that if I dont re introduce all the culprit foods like a mad woman. BTW: i am the only person on the thread who has never even heard of Little Miss Sunshine! I feel so out of the loop!!!

LEA X:
Well you sounded quite motivated to paint yesterday! Is it completed? Are you starting to love the colors? Congrats on BM2! I rarely use 2 risers anymore... I find I just dont need the extra height / knee jarring to get my HR going. Never have stepped with anyone but Cathe so maybe its just her intensity that makes it ok for me on no or 1 riser. GLAD your toe is better...."cut it off" you silly girl!

DEBRA:
WooHoo on upright all day!!!! AMAZING the things we can take for granted! Hope SH & Arms burned ya REALLLLLLLY good!

STEPH:
Oh my please!!! I want Dreya Posters!!!!! Maybe we can get screen savers too!!!!! (with sound of course). About UML. I wouldnt get it just for Ab work. The format is : 1 Upper exercise (pushups!), 1 Ab move (core syn OR ARX), 1 Leg move. It goes like that thru I think 6 rounds - all different moves but if you are just looking for abs you could actually just do parts of Core Syn & parts of ARX. I'm into saving money these days tho! lolol Very cool you have strong biceps.... Next to my Triceps my Biceps are cut but not strong at all! I can only lift my 15's a few times on traditional curls before dropping to 12's. I swear I dont know how they have the definition that they do!. My left arm is even worse for some reason.

JEANETTE:
I am so happy about your dads release! What a relief for you and the family!!! I bet the homecoming was joy filled !!! FABULOUS DAY!!!
You sure DID bring it with Kenpo! ^^^5 on al the vertical punches! Hope relay meeting went well and that you also got to do a little spin for yourself! I have crossed my fingers & toes for weather to warm minus rain next week as I'd like to ride with Cardio Coach on Thursday. THANKS SO MUCH for asking your your Hardcore Friends about abs! Yes Diana Sue is amazing!! I read about her daily workouts and gotta say she wants that body alot more than I do!!! lololol. Genetics is not the only reason she is so awesome...That woman works her tushie off every single day for her body! I will look into Tracey Staehle but gosh I sure dont want o spend more $$ for ABS for heavens sake!

Laurie & Monica..... Hope you are both ok this weekend and life is treating you good!

CL/PH3/WK3/Day7: XStretch

Good morning!

Oh my. Today is the V-day party. I have lots to do to finish getting ready. I will attempt to squeeze in XStretch, but it may never happen. We will have 11 children here: 2xtoddlers, 1x3yrs, 1x4yrs, 4x5yrs, 1x6yrs, 1x7yrs, and 1x8yrs. How's that for range? Think we can keep them all amused at the same time? Yes, probably while we eat cake! That's a universally favoured activity.

Traci - Ooooh, I hope your two meals this weekend don't leave you feeling terrible. I understand about your 178/180 record; that would be awesome if you were attempting to just lose weight. But given that every time you eat, you get an immediate side effect, I hope you aren't feeling too badly today (and can sleep tonight). Enjoy your rest or yoga. Your plans for this week's plyo-fest sounds intense! As someone who is not a fan of PlyoX, have, ah, fun? Your biceps are popping because you have such low body fat! You can see all the beautiful muscle you've spent so much time building. You know, I find it odd that people think Cathe can lift SUVs with her pinky fingers. She probably doesn't lift much heavier than in her videos, if at all. She's a very tiny woman with a very low body fat. My muscles are probably physically larger than hers, but not trained quite as well. It really isn't about how much you lift, but how much you lift *for your size*, and how lean you are. The numbers on the dumbells are as meaningless as the numbers on the scale. It's about how the weight feels while you're lifting it, and that's it, really. I should stop yakking and get some work done around here. You're in for a t-shirt? Cool. I'm not sure what the best way would be to go about getting them. Maybe I'll talk to someone from the Cheetahs. Rent Little Miss Sunshine if you can.

TracyX - I was only kidding about your doing that Ross-guy's workout yesterday! LOL! Of course, I should have realized that you wouldn't find it nearly as extreme as the rest of us :) Enjoy those roll-outs from the standing position. My DH is doing great with the P90 weights and cardio workouts, but is really struggling with his core. He appears to have very little strength in his hip flexors, and the P90 ab workout has easier version of the ARX in-and-out kind of stuff (bicycles, too) that really work that area. Frankly, I think he needs to be doing easier stuff. Any suggestions? I'm thinking maybe Cathe's Basic Step/ Body Fusion ab work on the stability ball?

Happy workouts everyone!
Cheers,
Sandra

Hi all of you dedicated weekend X'ers,

Today is a short intense cardio and then B&G leg blast premix. Yesterday my son and I went walking down at the river on the ice/snow. We did some A$$ sliding on some of the shorter hills and that was lots of fun! The water was beautiful and everthing looked so clean. I found the perfect core exercise! We were trying to get back up this hill that we had just slid down and I said, "I can crawl up that!" My son's like no way, but as I crawled up that slippery ice, guess what I could feel really engage? My core! Without that core strenght there is no way I could have held myslef together to get up that hill. I actually beat him up the hill! OK, so I'm a kid a heart and I hope I always will be.

Traci - Another believer in the food / mood / connection? My issues happen to be mostly the chemicals. Which even if you eat clean, some vegetables are treated with nasty chemicals. I can see a difference within hours if something has been treated. So I was bad these days off and ate a few 10-12 chocolate chips, and I already can see an emotional change; it's just not worth it. Your leg workout was killer yesterday. Yoga should be great for today. I haven't taken a full day off in a while either. I do get a total upper or lower day off every week though. I read in Preention Magazine the other day that the new idea is not to rest tired muscles, but to get them moving doing something easy because it helps the blood flow which helps the muscles. Who knows? I think no matter what you think about fitness these days you can find some article to support it!

Sandra - Glad you are feeling better. You were finding all dkids of stuff on line yesterday! I did find an interesting site with multiple core exercises. I'm going to print it and see if I can incorporate some of them. I'd really like to continue to find some more that are standing. How's the thesis coming? It's always nice to have a flat stomach:)I think that some of the plank modifications I'm using are helping. My core is pretty tight today!

Lea - I'haven't done BM2 in it's entirety yet. I have trouble fitting in those workouts now that I'm stuck on the two day split. I like that cardio, but the choreography is pretty simple and for me that takes away from the fun. It's like an autopilot workout.

Debra - Still upright? Any news on the house?

Jeanette - My husband and younger son are movie fanatics. They loved Little Miss Sunshine and Taladega Nights. I haven't seen LMS, but Taladega Nights was pretty funny. My husband knows all the classics. He wishes I was a movie buff, but no luck. Give me a documentary any day.

Steph - Did you get any cleaning done? I haven't done nearly what I could have and I've been off 5 days. I just hate housework.

Laurie - What's on tap for you today?

Monica - I hope your getting your stomach issues under control. Nothing worse than not feeling good. Have you ever tried an elimiation diet? I'm so into the diet thing before meds, although sometimes it just can't be controlled any other way.

I have Cardio Toolbox (Mindy Mylrea), Step This Way 2 (Kristen Kagen), and CIA 2602 on dvd if anyone wants them. I just never do them and probably never will. Some people really like Mindy. I just can't stand her wacky form.

BBl,

Tracy

Hey Sandra -

I think starting with exercises that work the entire core or just abs might be helpful. Can he do a plank? Even on the knees? What about some of the older stuff on ab hits? They really only work the abs. Do you remember reading about the modification that I think Aquajock suggested? Doing them laying on the step with the feet on the floor? That helps to isolate the abs. I like the in and outs while laying on the back. I've been trying to add weight to those and they don't work the hip flexors. He could probably modify those and not go so low with either feet of hands. I also like the toe touches that she does in KPC with the ball. I do those except I have my legs not quite so bent and then touch my toes to the floor and then the ball. The farther out you touch your toes to the floor, obviously the more intense.

Have a great party. Sounds like lots of fun! I'd be right there with you on the cake. I made healthy bread pudding yesterday. Well,,, it was ok.

Good afternoon ladies,

Classic/Phase 3/Week 3/Day 7 (Hell Week Eve)

Today was the group bike ride, 7 of us showed up. However, lots of goatheads on the road so we had 3 flat tires. I was one of them, but got it changed pretty quickly. It was getting windy so we decided to cut it short and head back to Starbucks. Glad we did because the rain started while we were riding and also some hail. Good ride, about 23 miles total. Got a little hill climbing in there too. Am waiting to watch the Tour of California bike race at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon. DH is watching the Daytona 500 so we will be switching channels back and forth.

Was going to go to Reno to look for furniture/decorations/lamps tomorrow but decided to paint the family room tomorrow instead. That will be the big project for the day. I've procrastinated long enough. Will get my CST workout in first thing and then AbX later with DH. Will be a good day I'm sure. Actually looking forward to this next week and then Recovery!!!

Traci, glad you are taking a rest today. It'll do you good no doubt. So tough for us to do. Hey, I need to take my own advice. I usually do a bike ride on my rest day so what kind of rest is that? Just that I think of bike riding more as recreation than exercising, though sometimes the intensity is up there. Do you have DOMS yet in your legs? Dad was happy to come home yesterday. I stopped by the house before watching Grandson's event. He looked good. I did get a little bike spin in after GS's event (which was fun to watch, by the way). I so hope that you get to do a Cardio Coach workout this next week. I also ordered the Cardio Coach Press Play workout, need to download it to my mp3 player though. I agree that Diane Sue looks awesome, but I can/will only do about 60 minutes of workouts in the morning. I think she puts much, much more time into her workouts. I refuse to get sucked into working harder, not smarter. I did order the Tracy Staehle ab workout with a hi-intensity step workout. Will let you guys know how it goes.

Tracy, your walk with your son sounded really, really good to me. Sliding on your butts! All that core work is paying off for you! LOL at you guys sliding and crawling around!!! Would make a good workout video. We watched Ocean's Eleven last night. It was pretty good. Love George Clooney!!! smooch! Will put Little Miss Sunshine on the que. Hey, you're not the only one that doesn't like housework. When I had 3 days off a week, I would devote part of one of the days to doing housework. Now that I only have 2 days, it's just not on the schedule to do that darned housework. I still haven't vaccumed this weekend. Of course, tomorrow will be painting, that will be enough work. Do you have the recipe for the healthy bread pudding? I love bread pudding.

Oh my, Sandra! How is the V-Day party going? Bet it is going just fine. Are the adults using the weight equipment LOL! Re: your DH's workouts, my DH will do the Gilad weight workouts. He tries to grab heavier weights in the beginning, but later has to switch to lighter as it is more than just 8-10 reps. I like Gilad and his abwork is good too. Makes me burn as it's different than AbX. DH finds it tough too.

Must go now and plant myself by the TV as the bike race will be on soon. I'm going to grab the remote. I wish I knew how to record the car race for DH, as I've got a feeling he's not going to want to share. Maybe we should have a contest to see who can hold a plank the longest and the winner gets to watch whatever they want. Of course, Traci would probably promise a Door Gym session later or something kinky like that to get her way. Think that's how she got the bike.;-)

Hi to everyone, Debra, Lea, Laurie, Steph, Monica!

Jeanette

Hi you crazy ladies! Hope you are all having lovely relaxing Sundays! I know that you are not going to believe this...you probably think that I am making up excuses not to exercise...but I fell AGAIN yesterday!!! I heard this big crash upstairs and then a blood curdling scream from my DD (who, let me insert here, is just fine)....as I was running in my socks across our wood floor I slipped and fell when heading up the stairs and twisted something in my back as well a hurt my ankle. DD's closet door fell off the track and pinched her finger and really just scared her to death. She is just fine though...Not even a bruise on the finger....Me...I was hobbling around all night and today! So, needless to say, I have not worked out...although I even had my DVD in this morning and my weights out...then we got a call that someone wanted to show our house...so had to hurry and tidy up and skeedaddle out the door...and now...my wrist and ankle are really bothering me...Will I ever finish P90X?!? I have felt that God must be trying to tell me something!

Okay...on to personals!

Jeanette...Maybe you could challenge DH to an arm wrestling contest for the remote..I'm sure you'd win! Or maybe just real wrestling...You could probably pin him pretty quick! Glad you got your ride in before the weather got too bad today. Let us all know how you like your new workouts. Have fun painting tomorrow...Won't it be nice to get that project done?!?

Sandra...Hope the Vday party is going well!! I'm sure everyone is having fun with the activities DD dreamed up. I don't know why you were cleaning so much yesterday to have a house full of kids today!

Tracy...Glad you had fun yesterday with your DS...It's nice to have another use for those core muscles! I guess if you can't find another workout to replace ARX, you can just go and climb some hills....Have a great time with your leg blast today. I'm sure you will enjoy it!

Traci...You definitely need to keep up with your yoga...It really does wonders for your body and sense of well being. Sorry about falling off the wagon last night! I'm sure you will do great the rest of the month...and I love how much you thought out your rationalization! Make sure to take your rest days...Your body needs them even if you are not feeling tired or in pain. You cannot gain muscle if you don't give your body time to make it!

Okay...I'm off to try and work out...I feel REALLY guilty for not doing it yet....If my wrist and ankle get too tweaky, I'll stop, but I want to at least try. Have a great evening everyone!

Hi Debra!

I cannot believe you fell again! You poor thing! I really, really hope that you don't have much soreness from it. I have no doubts you will finish P90X. We'll all be here. Who cares if you are delayed a bit. Please slow down! No more falling (please)! Watching the bike race (prologue, a short time trial) went well and I just flipped back and forth to the Daytona 500, which DH appreciated (though never expressed). The car race was pretty exciting at the end, but the driver I was rooting for (Mark Martin) lost by just a couple of feet. He was soooo close!

Sandra, can't help but wonder how the party turned out. I bet it all went really well and a good time had by all.

Jeanette

YAY!!! I am finally finished with the kitchen. I actually like it now. Now, I am going to start on the dining room. I have an entire house to paint, so you guys will be hearing about it for a while. Fun, I know. No workout today. Tomorrow I am going to do one of the Master Series.

Sorry I can't really do personals right now (I know, I am lagging), but I think I have had one beer too many to do those, so I will just wait until tomorrow:9 . I definately need to go back and read everyones posts from this weekend.

I also watched the Daytona 500, though because of my oldest DS, we root for Jimmy Johnson, oh well......

Until tomorrow. Have a great night guys!!!

Lea

Hi gang!

Oh my heavens, I can sit and relax. I would sell my entire Cathe collection right now for a glass of red wine. But that's a bad idea on so many levels. Thank heavens there isn't a bottle in the house.

Since a couple of you were kind enough to ask about the party, I thought I'd let you know how it went. I went very well. I think. The house was a chaotic mess by the end, large quantities of food were consumed by all, no one was injured (seriously), 2 out of 8 balloons survived, as did the hamster, the 3 year old escaped out the front door only twice, and one of the guests took DD#1 home with them for the night. Phew. DH and I got busy as soon as they all left, and had the house tidied up pretty quick.

One of the guests is from a Chinese family. She brought with her two bags of party treats: lobster chips, and sweet lotus seeds. The lobster chips are made from "lobster flour". This is a whole new realm of ingestibles to me! Our British neighbour informed me that they have something called "prawn crisps" in England, which are very similar in taste. Mind you, I didn't try the lobster chips because a) I don't like to eat sea urchins; b) they are fried; and c) they look like orange pieces of styrofoam. Very unappetizing.

The sweet lotus seeds look like macademia nuts with some kind of white coating (sugar? honey?). I'm thinking they might be good, but I haven't opened them yet. Check out these nutritional numbers:

1/2 the package (about 3oz - looks to be about a half of a cup) contains 245 calories, 1g of fat, 2g of protein, 1g of fiber, and 58 g of carbohydrates! 40g of that is sugar! Ya think these are gonna taste sweet? Okay, I'm going to try one now. Here goes......oh. The bag is really hard to open. I need to get the scissors. Hold on.....Okay. I have one now. Odorless. Hmmmmmm. Soft. Mild earthy flavour. Tons of sweetness. Turns powdery as you chew. Huh. Not great, but not awful. Would I buy them? No. Will I finish this bag, even just eating one a day for the next 3 months? Probably not.

I haven't done XStretch today, and have given up even thinking about it. I wish I were starting the final intense week feeling better fueled and more motivated. Hopefully I'll have a decent sleep tonight and feel a bit more like my normal self by tomorrow. I feel quite detached from normal life right now. Too much sugar for me today!!!

TracyX - great story about the hill climb/core workout! I'm sure your kids are impressed by their mom. What website did you find? Sparkspeople.com has an extensive archive of exercises for each body part. They might have some good suggestions for standing core work? Thank you for your suggestions about DH's ab work. I'll think about it a bit and see what I can come up with.

Jeanette - my goodness, rain and hail during your ride today? Sounds miserable!! DH wanted to watch the California race today, but they don't broadcast it here in Canada. Funny, the adults didn't even ask to use the exercise equipment ;) My DH and 2 of the other husbands are planning to do a triathalon relay this summer, though. DH will do the bike portion. I gotta get him in shape now for sure!! Nice idea about the plank contest! I have a strong hunch that you will win!

Debra - my dear!! I can't believe you fell again! And this one sounds like one of the worst. Are you okay? How did your attempt to workout go?

Lea - happy painting! I can't wait until I'm a P90X grad and can pick and choose my own workouts again, depending on how bad my hangover is!

Have a great day!
Sandra
- thinking we never found out what "project" TraciX helped her DH with yesterday

Hello ladies!!!

Sandra...Glad the party went well...and good for you for trying new foods! I'm really good about that..I'll try anything once! So will my DD...she actually likes octopus from the sushi place...I think it's just exciting for her. I'm assuming the 3yo didn't get away completely even though (s)he tried to make an escape...And also thankful that the hamster survived the evening.

Jeanette...Glad you got to watch at least part of your race..and I'm sure your DH was appreciative of your sharing the tube..even if he didn't express himself well!

Lea...Congrats on finishing your kitchen! I'm sorry I'm not there to help you paint the rest of your house...I love painting! We could knock it out in a couple of days!

Just to let you guys know...I did workout today....I did Sh+Arms..and was able to either raise my weights or reps on almost everything. Woohoo!!! I did have to modify a couple of moves...My wrist is still not at all right..so I did not attempt the dips or side push ups and subbed overhead presses for both tricep moves. I did a Cathe ab workout instead of ARX..I didn't want to strain my back any more...so wanted to take it easy on that part. I will modify the rest of week 11 since I feel like I'm behind...So, depending on how my ankle feels tomorrow I'll either do Kenpo or Legs and Back...I will just skip yoga this week...I can't do planks or pushups with my wrist. I also don't think I can do pull ups with my wrist..so if I do Legs and Back, I'll do Tony legs and add Cathe back. So then I can start week 12 on Wednesday! Okay...I'm done for the night....No plans to teach DD's school this week....so I think I'll try to get in a massage...and maybe even a pedicure...

DD and I went to see "Bridge to Tarabithia" which was really good, but not at all what I expected...Had to answer more questions than I anticipated. Keep me in your thoughts this week since DD has a sleepover at our house on Friday night..with a very cute, but very high maintenance girlfriend of hers...I am already dreading/looking forward to Friday.
