Morning to all! Hope workouts, coffee, family time etc... is off to a great start!

I woke up so happy that I made myself get in a workout last night! I think following Tony really gave me a sense of what sticking to a rotation plan feels like in terms of accomplishment. Its a great feeling for me. I so enjoyed working out with Tony again too. He was really funny in spots in Sweat 5/6 right up until last 1 sec of stretch. He is just adorable! I will be very excited to do another X round down the road and am very happy I bought Master Series so I can still get my fix every few days.

Today is GS Chest & Triceps + Ab work + 45 minutes of KickMax
Extra Tricep work to be from SH today.

**** P e r s o n s l s ***
:D SANDRA* I feel your energy thru that post yesterday! I am so happy for you and all you have accomplished and achieved this past week! Its so motivating for me to see you always bounce back from mental/physical slumps that are a natural part of a rotation like this. You are one tough lady! Had to LOL at your warmup tho... it sounded like my cardio workouts this week. Although I am enjoying the cardio on most days I still need to be careful not to do lengthy ones... Dont want to burn away my muscles as FitnessFreak always says! I love how you look at your week* Mon-Wed= tough Thur-Sun is fun. I bet that makes each week a little more mentally do-able! Wide Leg Sit Ups + Unassisted Chins??? ^^^^^^^^5!!!!!!! Picking up your DD must feel like nothin' anymore! Have a great singles weekend!
Thank you for the tricep tip... Did it HAVE to be dips? :p FYI: My plank work is just so much more impressive these days... I owe that one 100% to your 1000.00 Planks! You should write a book all about this stuff!

:7 TRACY-X* How ya feeling this morning? Hope you made yourself a wondeful dinner & got a great nights rest. Mornings are so wonderful I think... We get to "do our best & forget the rest!" in terms of nutrition etc...

:7 DEBRA* Forgot to ask last night... How in the world did you add even more Mason Twists? Did you go into the Mason Zone??? LOL How are those obliques today?

:7 Lea* You seem to have gone from zero-100 overnight! What a wonderful recovery you've made! HOORAY!!! Drill Max right out of the gate of being sick? Oh my oh my! I love DM!!!! The time just flys for me and all the premixes are superb! Enjoy Yoga today! Again, I am so happy you have bounced back to your old self.. I can feel Healthy Lea thru your posts.

:7 Jeanette* What in heavens name are you doing up after midnight? You dont need to know anything about "more energy":+ Yet another great workout B&G Abs! and at that late hour? Thanks for seconding Sandras DIPS prescription:p! You guys are NOT telling me what I want to hear!! Enjoy your day and I'll hope the rain subsides so you can get outside and do something fun today!

:7 Monica* Hoping you have great news to report after test! You are in our hearts!

:7 DB* WHERE ARE YOU??? Last I recall you had 3 workouts to go until graduation... Are you officially an X now????

:7 Happy Saturday to Laurie, X, Steph! :7

Good morning everyone. No news yet on my test from yesterday. They said that I should have the results on Monday. So the scheduling center gave me bad information -- I did not need to fast for the test. I was seriously pi$$ed. I could have gotten up before my tests and eaten and exercised. Oh well.

Because my test took up most of the day yesterday and I fasted I had to skip my scheduled workout, Legs & Back. No problem, I did some doubles earlier in the week so I will skip Kenpo today and do Legs instead. However -- one problem. Being that I am in Week 9 of P90X, I think that I would know by now if I like the results I get from each workout. I just don't think I am responding well to Legs & Back. It is a good workout and my legs have gotten smaller in size, but I really think I have lost muscle. I would like to start getting some of the muscle back, so I think I am no longer going to do that workout.

I rarely did any subbing in Phases 1 & 2, and after sticking with the rotation I think I have a good idea what works for me. For Phase 3, I will be subbing heavier leg work, Gym Syle, for Legs & Back. I will continue with the P90X upper body work as it is working well for me. Anyway, I'm off to do Gym Style Legs and ARX.

Monica

Hi there everyone!!

I have yoga on the books today...So I will do Bryan Kest Tone and add yoga belly in. Looking forward to doing that later this morning...Just have to do a little housework first.

Traci...How is life as a single lady this weekend? Hope you slept well last night. I got to sleep until 9 am this morning...woo-hoo! Which is good because it took me forever to get to sleep last night...I was probably just falling asleep when you were waking up! Have fun with GS and Kick Max today.... I am really looking forward to this rotation being over so that I can get back to my beloved Cathe!

Monica..Sorry about the fasting yesterday..That really su**s! Hope legs go well for you today....I haven't subbed much in the way of weight training during this rotation...I have generally stuck with with Tony...but if you feel you would do better with another leg video, you should go for it! I have really enjoyed L&B..and it has worked well for me... I can see a lot more definition in my legs..and they are definitely stronger, but that may be due to the fact that I have actually done legs once a week since starting this rotation.....When I did my own thing, legs was the one workout I wouldn't make myself do every week...Now I know that I can really gain strength by adding them in! I will say that I think the X is lacking in deadlifts! I think those are a great strengthener for lower back and hammies...but it seems to be completely left out of this series. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed that you actually get results on Monday, and that everything turns out good!

Well...I'm long winded this morning! I must be avoiding my housework...

Happy day to all who follow...I'll bbl to check on everyone's workouts!

hi there..I'm back...I am usually the last to post at night, so I didn't even go back to yesterdays thread!

Traci...You were cracking me up yesterday...and probably gave the only laugh of the day!! Let me know what you come up with on 17# weights....I would be interested in getttin those too! I still can't believe you were posting past your normal bedtime!

Jeanette...DD is feeling much better today..Thanks for asking. I like Cardio Kicks because it is not as dancey as some of Cathe's other kickboxing vids. Her form is not too great... I think this must have been one of the first kickboxing ones she did...but she is having fun and says that is all that video is about. I know what you mean about subbing for Tony some.. I figure if I sub some of the cardio then I will be more excited to do his weight work. What rooms are you painting? I love having my walls freshly painted....Makes everything seem new! I really enjoy Netflix too! I have a huge number of movies in my queue!

Lea...God bless you for adding ARX after Drill Max...You really are an X grad! Hope you are feeling better and able to get back on your exercise schedule....I understand how frustrating that is!

Okay...I am really going to go and do laundry now....I have procrastinated long enough!

CL/PH3/WK2/Day6: KenpoX

Good morning,

TraciX - I'm so glad you stayed home this weekend. Very selfish of me, but hey, it's how I feel. My cardio yesterday wasn't very difficult or long. I'm keeping them on the breezy side because, as you said, I don't want to compromise muscle building. But I need the ss cardio for the fun factor, and for the way it relieves anxiety. Yeah, it's too bad about the tricep dips, I agree. I'm not a huge fan, either, but I think nothing isolates them better. It's interesting, but I think the most effective exercises are ones that use plain old body weight as a resistance, rather then machines or iron. Think pull/chin ups, planks, push ups, tricep dips, ARX core work, lunges, plyo, wall squats. Gymnasts have fantastic physiques, and to the best of my knowledge don't do any weight training. Just a whole bunch of throwing their own bodies around. And Cathe was a gymnast way back in the day. I would love to see Cathe do a workout that trained the whole body, just using bodyweight moves. And yes, that includes pull ups. How cool would that be?! I would love that! I'm going to have to view Sweat 5/6 and see this adorable Tony you're talking about. I do really really like him in the P90 Circuit 1/2 and Sweat 1/2. In the P90 series they scroll words across the bottom like CNN does. They usually echo a point that Tony has just made (eg., "Stand tall", "Bend at the waist"). It still cracks me up every time I see them write: "Don't eat cheeseburger." I find whoever writes the stuff for P90 and P90X seems to have a great sense of humour. For some reason the bit in the P90X manual about "thirdiary" not being a real word for some reason just tickles my funny bone beyond belief. I'll join you today in doing some of KickMax. You do the Combos and I'll do the Blast Challenge, okay? Anyone out there want to volunteer to do the leg conditioning drills? How nice that you are learning new things about fitness, even after all these years. Carefully planned, and followed (!) rotations are critical in helping take people to a new level without causing injury.

Monica - AAAAAARRGGGGHHHHH!!!! UNnecessary starvation?! That would P8SS me off to no end! Especially since I would already be irritable! I'm interested in hearing your results, so please keep us updated. I agree with you about Legs & Back. I posted a similar statement last week (also at the end of Week 9). What I concluded is that I will keep doing LB (I like the pull-ups, and I find the leg work rather enjoyable. Leg squats are money!) on Fridays, but tack on some Cathe leg work on Tuesdays, after PlyoX. If I could find the plates for my barbell, I might do GS Legs, standing, this week. It's dynamite, isn't it? Enjoy!

TracyX - ((((((hugs)))))) I'm sending positive energy vibes your way. I know what those days feel like. Men don't know what they have, in having stable hormones. Another thing - are you eating enough to fuel your workouts and the rest of your body needs? I've learned that when I start to feel depressed, I need more calories, and possibly a good long sleep.

Debra - what a good feeling to see so much improvement! It's very motivational! And I love having clean carpets. Nice! Are you a Flybaby by any chance? Given how much you love clean carpets, freshly painted walls, and clean laundry, I'm guessing you keep a well-organized, tidy home?

Lea - Oooooh, you make me want to do Drill Max! I only did the whole thing once before starting the X, and I loved it. I did the cardio-only a few times and they're fun, fun, fun! Drill Max will be one of my CoreSyn substitutes, post P90X. I'm glad you find the Reno book so beneficial. I have the hardest time eating a high protein breakfast. I do NOT want to cook 5 egg whites every morning, nor eat a chicken breast for breakfast every day. I like to eat something quick and easy to prepare (cereal, ww english muffin, etc.). I need to get more protein for breakfast, I just can't figure out what. Thanks for the banana bread recipe recommendation the other day. Do you think it's possible to make a pumpkin-muffin recipe, but substitute sweet potatoes?

Jeanette - BG bonus abs are terrific! Are you feeling it today? Is there singing in RS?! LOL! Oh yes! But you might not recognize it as such because it more closely resembles a high-pitched, endless whine. It never bothered me in the beginning, but then I overdosed on the workout and it became like fingernails on a chalkboard for me. I wonder which kickboxing workout you're doing this morning? Enjoy your painting! You and DH have such wonderful weekends, I can see why you're procrastinating on using your time to paint walls. Will you be riding tomorrow?

Today's plan is to do KenpoX, possibly followed with KickMax Blast Challenge. I may do High Step Challenge cardio-only instead. Or nothing at all. I'll see when I get there.

Have a great day,
Sandra

Good rainy Saturday morning ladies,

Classic/Phase 3/Week 2/Day 6

It was supposed to be KenpoX but I subbed a 53 minute premix of KPC that was good and I felt it. I'm pleased that my cardio ability was just fine. My legs and butt are a little sore today from Legs & Back yesterday. That workout never has failed to make me sore the next day. I know it's not the yoga I did on Thursday because that was an easy Shiva Rea routine. I subbed KenpoX because I felt I just needed to change the kickboxing around a little, you know, the muscle confusion thing. I did use my weighted gloves and got more of a cardio workout than doing KenpoX, judging by the sweat that was rolling. Am thinking with the rain, that I might not get a bike ride in tomorrow. Instead, I may take a walk around the block or something instead. Monday looks better weatherwise and it's a holiday so may get the bike ride in then. Ooooh, I just remembered, I have my last massage scheduled for 4:00 p.m. today :7. Something nice to look forward to.

I'm also thinking that with this rain, I should get started on that painting job that I spoke of BEFORE CHRISTMAS. I am a procrastinator big time, but I know that once the good weather comes, I won't want to be inside doing painting type chores. I did my housework last night so I don't have to worry about that today, just need to get to Walmart and pick up paint and supplies. Think I will just do one room per day. I hate being overwhelmed. Helps if I break it into more doable pieces.

Traci, Tony is adorable. I noticed in AbX after one hard exercise that he kind of collapsed and rolled his eyes upward, like he really felt it good. I like it when he says "These guys are working hard, I know you are too". I still haven't previewed all of Master Series, but as I said, I'm a procrastinator big time. Enjoy that tricep work today, okay? Oh yeah, I'm on the west coast so it wasn't midnight when I posted, not sure what time it was, maybe around 9:00?

Monica, bummer about the fasting not being needed. Good for you for changing the rotation to meet your needs. I probably need to do that too for my legs. I have gotten better results than what I was doing, but I think the better eating is helping with that too. I'm pretty excited about creating rotations for afterwards, using what I've learned from P90X.

Got to go get busy now,

Jeanette

Debra, good to hear your DD is better. I'm painting the living room, family room, kitchen and hallway. I need to go take an assessment of brushes and such now. I too am one that neglects legwork and that's what I need. I'm just not much for barbells and squats. My legs have improved with L&B so along that line I will follow up on.

Jeanette

Just an accountability update for me....
I just completed todays strength training for Chest - Triceps + Extra Triceps for some muscle baby.... OH C*AP. I cannot lift my arms... Literally!
I did the extra Triceps first (SH) then did GS Chest & Tri (alternating parts & Pushups) M*O*M*M*Y*     I stayed with 15's for nearly all reps & cycles - did 90% of Pushups on toes but NO WAY would that happen if I hadnt alternated parts & moves.

I finished, ate & went to grab a cup of java.... First one fell right out of hands... second one I poured liquid egg whites in thinking it was my Soy Milk Creamer.......I am cramping already (45minutes post workout) Yes delierium is setting in. TOASTY TOASTY TOASTY.
I still have cardio to do but there will be NO kick for me today- Gotta lift your arms to do that sooooo ...I am changing to Circuit Max but just the cardio parts- Probably 2x through.
Ladies I have decided to change the next two weeks to 1 body part a day and work them REALLY good like I did today. Yep- I'll get that damn horseshoe yet!:+
Will start laundry - let meal 2 digest and hit the Circuit Max... Will catch up on personals (I've read tho!) after that but MAN you guys are flying high today! What is in the air?????
:7

Okay - so I did GS Legs this morning and my legs feel so pumped -- the way they always felt after GS Legs. I only did the standing portion.

I used Traci's idea -- use Mix & Match so that I can go at my own speed easier. I don't do all the faster squats that Cathe does -- I stick with a slow count and just do less reps, heavier weight. It was a great workout. I may do the floor work some time next week as an add on.

I'll bee back later with personals.

Monica

Back to report that KenpoX is done, as well as KickMax Blast Challenge and stretch. Ahhhhhh. I love this feeling. I love these workouts. I love post-workout highs :)

Need to go shower now. I don't love post-workout smellies.

Sandra

LEAN/Phase 2/Week 9/Day 4

Hey, crazy X-er chicks! Everyone's probably out on the town having a great time, but I'll be at home tonight doing YogaX.

Thank goodness for Phase 3! It has helped the boredom quite a bit. I did Shoulders and Arms for the first time in a long time and I finally get to do new Chest and Back, and Back and Biceps. That is going to help a lot with the boredom factor, I have a feeling. Unfortunately, I still have to do my nemesis, ARX.

BBL to see what everyone's up to this weekend!
Steph

Hi all,

I’m late posting today. I went to a craft show and then lunch with my Mom. It was fun and then I stopped and bought a new waffle iron because DH loves waffles or pancakes on the weekend and my waffle iron broke several weeks ago. I was tired of making blueberry pancakes twice every weekend, although he’d probably eat them every day if I made them.

I did coremax 3 followed by LIC abs today and really felt like I was able to engage my core. I think I have a core to engage now. Then when I got home I did the warm up, first 3 segments, and the bonus combo of BM2 and then Power Strike 2 minus the warm up and stretch, I just did my own stretch. It was a great workout and I love that Power Strike. They always give a lot of form pointers and I need to be reminded.

I’m feeling better today, probably because I made sure that I ate. Thanks for the comments, the hormonal fluctuations just su#$ sometimes.

Monica – Legs & back never worked for me like I wanted it and I always added extra leg work. Before legs and back I would do squats and deadlifts and also work legs 2 other times during the week; one short and one longer. I could have never stuck with just legs and back the entire 90 days. Sorry about the unnecessary fasting. It just throws the entire body off, but it sounds like you are in pretty good spirits. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Traci – My arms have been cooked this week. I’m not sure if it is the shock or doing multiple sets of the same exercise or what. I’m going with once a week for upper body parts except the extra pull-ups on Friday like with the x. The flys and bench press just killed me.

Sandra – I totally agree about the body weight exercises. They are so much more natural and I think engage all of the little stabilizer muscles and tendons much more effectively that isolation weight exercises. I never was able to do the wide leg sit ups with my legs bent; there was just no way. It’s interesting who can do what and what is hard for some is easy for others. Like Jeanette’s Dreya rolls. That didn’t happen unassisted for me either.

Jeanette – KPC is one of my favorites and I haven’t done it in a while. I went with the Power Strikes for my kickbox this rotation to shake things up a bit. I’m with you on procrastinating starting the painting. I hate to paint and it takes so much time. I really should say that I hate the preparation and clean up, I don’t really mind the actual painting. If I play it right, usually I can get my hubby to help because he prides himself on his painting.

Debra – You didn’t do legs every week? Oh my! Legs are my favorite body part to work. They respond so quickly. Glad DD is feeling better. I hope you got I in some housework, I haven’t done any today.

Lea – I haven’t done DM in its entirety yet. I guess I should try it. I do like the cardio part. Glad you are feeling better. Take it a little easy, you wouldn’t want a relapse.

Tracy

Happy end of day! I so cannot wait to go curl up in my electric blanket and go nigh-nite! I'm am exhausted this evening & its just barely 6pm! I think it could be the Yeast/Dairy/Sugar free 30 day program I'm on... Gosh I miss my morning tortillas and afternoon sandwiches! I need FIBER!!!x(

My blood sugar was off all day Thursday and I only fasted til 11am. The Dr actually had a plate of food for me once tests were over...My kind of Dr! Nothing wrong with changing up leg work if it isnt working for you! So glad you got a great pump w/ GS! I really LOVE the mix n match as I find I can just bring it so much more! Glad the idea helped!

Debra:  I am so jealous of your 9am wake up time! Sandy had me up at 4am on the nose... Even DH said the boys let him sleep until 7am at the bay today... Guess my little sweeties got her mommys genes! Fingers crossed that laudry is done for the weekend! Did you do it between yoga poses????:7

Jeanette:  ^^5 on bringing it with KPC today! Sometimes a girls gotta have a little diversity! Hope your massage was HEAVENLY! That sounds so darn delightful right now. Happy painting...what a project that is!

Sandra:  I think your assessment of body weight exercises is dead on! Heaven knows I need the variety but all the non equipment stuff always gets me real good!}( Sweat 5/6 has that scrolly stuff at bottom too! Cracks me up...I guess I'm easily amused when I work out. You are the WOMAN!!! Adding KM Blasts to Kenpo is brave & bold! I humbly bow.

Steph:  Oh girl- You are a wild woman!! Saturday night YogaX fest... is this like a "date" with MY Tony! :+ Enjoy yourself and tell my sweetoe pie hi!

Good evening ladies! I am sure that Traci is long asleep by now! I had a bit of a sinking spell this afternoon and I couldn't keep my eyes open another minute and had to take a nap...So now I am up and very perky! Did Bryan Kest today..which was great...If anyone has any other yoga they really like...Please let me know who and where you got it...I have a couple Baron Baptistes which I like okay...but I am really enjoying Bryan....I added yoga belly to the end and really felt it since I had a few DOMS from ARX yesterday....I have legs and back tomorrow...and I am thinking I will do X legs and do some other back..maybe from GS...I'll make a final decision in the morning!

Have a lovely evening...and I'll see you all in the morn!

Hi there everyone. Finally I get to have the computer to write personals. I did yoga X today and I have to say after not working out for about a week and a half, my form was so much better. Go figure.

Traci X }( - Ha. I can't wait to try the Master Series. I am glad that you enjoyed it. Sorry that the 30 day program has got you down. I hope it won't be so bad for too long. Sorry that your arms are so toasty. Or, are you enjoying it???

Monica }(- Sorry about the no news. How very frustrating. I love gym style legs and the results that it gave me pre-X. Go ahead and sub away. I can't wait to get back to that one this week.

Debra}( - I am so jealous that you got to sleep in this morning. Urgh!! But I am so use to getting up early, so I don't think that will every happen. I am glad that your DD is doing better. Hope you had fun with laundry. It never ends, does it?

Jeanette }(- When you are done painting your rooms, would you like to come over here and paint. I am trying to build up enough stregnth to start painting my kitchen. And no way do you need extra energy. You have enough!!! I hope you get Tosca's book soon. I am getting a lot of recipes from the Nutrition magazines. They even have one for a ziploc omelette that I love. No work what so ever. But the eating idea is so simple, my body is responding well. My pants are even falling off of me now. LOL

Sandra }(- LOL. You have me laughing at the 5 egg whites. I am so loaded up on eggs now, it is ridiculous. Tosca has me eating so many eggs. The pumpkin-muffin recipe with sweet potatoes sounds really yummy. You should try it and let us know how it was. I hope that you enjoyed Kenpo X today. I seriously do not miss that one for some reason.

Tracy X}(- When did we get to the point that getting new kitchen appliances was exciting? I got a waffle iron for Christmas and was soooo happy about it. Glad that you got one. Sounds like you had a great workout today. Way to go on the abs.

Hi to anyone I missed. Have a great night.

Lea

Hi all,

Just got back from my massage....heavenly as usual! This is my last one I think. I'm going to start getting my hair touched up and highlighted with the money I'll save on massages. I did love my massages though...sigh. I was hoping to come home and just relax all night, but DH wants me to go pick up some Chinese food. Both sons are here so maybe they'll do it instead.

I got the ceiling painted on the living room this afternoon. Feel good about that. Will finish the walls tomorrow. I'm thinking that now I don't want to put up my same old pictures and decorations so maybe some new stuff is in the future for that room. Hmmm..

Sandra, I agree the body weight exercises have been absolutely the best for my body. Singing in RS? I don't remember or recognize it as singing but I did hear some banshee type stuff in Butts and Guts Stability Ball stuff. Don't really like it. Actually, no DOMS today. It was a good workout, but I probably should have added more on to it as it wasn't as tough as AbX, just different. Not sure if I'll be riding as it's been raining today. We'll see at 10 a.m. whether or not there will be a ride. I'll be looking for a break in the drizzle though. I was thinking I could do a Cardio Coach in the house, but I left my other bike and trainer at the Garage Boys Fitness Center. The painting did go well today. Looking forward to putting the color on the walls and finishing it. Then I'll still have the family room, kitchen and hallway to do. Wow, KenpoX plus Kick Max!!!

Traci, sounds like your workout was a real doozy. I think tomorrow you are going to be very, very sore. I like a one body part a day workout myself. Good going on the cardio today. Sounds like a real sweaty time. Have a good sleep tonite.

Monica, I like GS Legs myself. I'm going to have to get reacquainted with the remote for mixing and matching more. Got to get more creative with my workouts.

Steph, glad this phase is helping with the boredom. I'm not bored with the weight work, just the PlyoX and Kenpo stuff. I know how good they've been for me, just need to hang in there for a few more weeks.

Tracy, mmmmmmmm.... pancakes and waffles! Don't think I even have a waffle iron any more. I'm changing jobs soon (different department at work) and they are giving me a going away sourdough pancake breakfast on Thursday morning. Sounds like you are getting in some real good workouts since the X.

Hi Lea, painting is not my favorite activity at all, but know I've got to do it as DH doesn't paint. Painting the kitchen is probably the least favorite as I have to contort my body into nooks and crannies. I also need to have DH re-silicone around the sink, faucets and such. I'm looking forward to Tosca's book. Are you losing weight with this new eating? Wish something would work for me.

Oh, I have to go pick up the Chinese food now :-(
